If you notice, two blinks you have locked the car, one blink unlocked (turn signals)

Jeez Will, clutching at straws there. Gotta agree with you on the general perception of the Boxster. A couple of my mates were straight onto the hairdresser's car thing, as soon as I told them I was considering buying one. One mate drives a 70's Landcruiser and the other a crusty old Toyota Hi-ace. Real car experts, the pair of them. Needless to say, after making them both wait weeks before I took them for a spin, they have now been properly educated. One of them screaming "code brown, code brown" as I tore down my favorite section of country road.
The key doesn't bother me, as my baby never leaves my sight. Except that I am accidently popping the bonnet/frunk/boot when I pocket them. First world problem.
I couldn't care less about engine accessibility, not my job.
Haven't had any issues with my switches, that surprised me. Might just come down to previous owner and general wear and tear.
Keep up the great content, I enjoy your vids.

Hi Shaun Thanks for watching. Yeah hard to think of 5 things i hate tbh. Love this car and as you say, people who know about cars know how good they are.

That key is an after market one and is so much nicer than the original grey plastic key!

Heater switches are common. They're are a 30 mins DIY job to change. Cost about £35 to replace (Spyder, on ebay etc). Plenty of tutorials on TH-cam. Also, when you lock it the indicators flash. That'll tell you it's locked.

Thanks for watching. I'll have to give those switches a go. That helps with the indicators took me a while to figure that out 😂

I fixed the temp and fan buttons on my old car. Quite a simple job.

Nice little video, here's my 2 cents :
I bought my 987.2 S almost 1 year ago and I'm very happy I got myself a 3.4 flat 6 from Porsche at a "reasonable" price and relatively low mileage (+/- 82000 km - 51000 mi). The price jump for the 911 was just unjustifiable for me. For the same money I was getting twice the mileage on older cars.
There will always be "little things" to pick on for any car but the 5 you point out are really minor...
1 - Yes, the key could use a glow up but it's a key from its era and it's just fine as it is. For your "I'm not sure it's locked", look at the blinkers when you press the lock button - 1 flash it's open, 2 flashes, it's closed.
2 - Switches can be replaced although they're a little bit on the expensive side for what they are. Check out "La Rose Porsche" video th-cam.com/video/7xCs0-bvsoI/w-d-xo.html
3 - That's how it is... pretty sure if you do it yourself quite often you'll get used to it. Hopefully, it doesn't go in "service mode" too often.
4 - Not sure how it got that reputation (surely Clarkson is partly at fault) but yes, there's morons everywhere... it's also the car that saved Porsche from bankruptcy in the 90's. It has a great weight distribution and storage both in the front and back.
Ultimately the car is for your own enjoyment... I really struggle to hear any complaints when the roof is down and enjoying my way up to 7000 RPM...
5 - All cars have their issues and indeed it seems that this IMS and bore score is being blown out of proportion on the internet but it's understandable that people on the second hand car market pay attention to that (which is also partly why I went for a 2010 987.2 S version)

Anyone who thinks it's a hairdressers cars has either never driven or been in one and is just showing their lack of knowledge. Or maybe just because they heard Jeremy Clarkson say it once.
Maybe a little blast around a few roundabouts might change their mind. 😅

Thanks for watching. Exactly my thoughts. Shows a lack of understanding of how great these cars are. :)

It's often just jealousy unfortunately. Such folks are best ignored, you can't argue with stupid / ignorant people, they,'ll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience 👍👍In the days of the front engined 924,944, some people used to be exactly the same.

I find all people saying something negative about boxsters or Caymans have all one thing in common: They do not drive a Porsche, 100% of the time. Smile and ignore😊

    • @SpencerF6
      @SpencerF6 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@Nachtwind7 For sure. Many 911 drivers started with a Boxster or Cayman and only ever have very positive things to say about them. One guy told me after 10 years of driving boxsters, he upgraded to a 996 C4S. And hated it. Thought he'd made a mistake at first but did get used to the different driving dynamics of a 911 and grew to love it. He still misses the "chuckability" of the Boxster though. 😁

The 987.2 has a better coating on the temp controls. In terms of access, same issue with the 911 and even worse on newer models. I go into the top of the Boxster engine once a year to check the power steering fluid and every second year I change the air filter. Oil changes are no issue and I can check the belt from underneath. Most sports cars have panels on the bottom side and only one needs to be removed for an oil change. I rarely have had anyone comment negatively on my Boxster vs. a 911, it’s more fun than a 911 and looks better as a convertible than a 911 convertible.

I have had the same car for over 7 years and still love it...the best advice i can offer is to apply yourself..get a few tools and learn how to change the oil ...and change it as often as you can.I have it down to about £50 including the filter etc.Carry on getting the service history stamps if you need to of course.

And what about fuel consumption? I live in the mountains. Great for driving, but it's expensive...

Other things I hate: small cup holders, rear blind spots, rusty wheel bolts, cloudy headlights from UV damage (like I see in yours)

did you see this new thing (in the UK i think it is) where they're adding a new anti-pollution zone thing and going to start billing people in heaps of metro areas crazy amounts of money. I saw autoalex do a video on it recently, while I have no idea if thats the same area that affects you (as i'm on other side of the world) I thought i'd put it out there and see if you knew about it.

Hi mate thanks for watching. This Ultra low emission zone (ULEZ) doesnt effect me luckily as I am not that close to London. My nearest city, Oxford is trialing something like that but not come into action... yet. This shouldnt effect how im able to use the car though.
