Up until looking up the meaning of the Portuguese just now, I thought it might be similar to the English, but no, its like a totally different love song
That you have with many songs translated into english. Usually the english version is very flat and more shallow in meaning lest to irritate the general audience with some cultural originality.
I don't know what either of you are talking about, but the English translation of the lyrics is artistically as close to the original version as possible -- the lyrics of the original song itself were never as "deep" (in comparison) as you pretend. The rhythm and syncopation were what made it particularly interesting.
@@StarWarsSudooku you have no idea what you are talking about. Firstly, the original version of this song has the same meaning as the English version, with the English lyrics of the Portuguese piece being written by the same man who wrote the original version and being a rehash of the first verse and bridge in Portuguese. Secondly, changes must be made across any langue when translating -- that doesn't inherently make the song 'shallow". There are just as many examples of when an English version added depth to the piece. Take "comme d'habitude" -- a song "translated" with completely new lyrics by Sinatra himself that completely transformed it. I (as a francophone) LOVE "comme d'habitude"-- but lyrically, it is a standard "falling out of love" song. " My Way" is, comparatively speaking, a MUCH richer and deeper song, lyrically speaking,, in terms of meaning. And that's just one example by the very same artist in question.
I'm from Brazil and my native language is Portuguese, Portuguese is a very rich language, in Portuguese we have words that are not found in English, this makes the translation superficial.😅

No doce balanço, a caminho do mar
Moça do corpo dourado
Do sol de Ipanema
O seu balançado é mais que um poema
É a coisa mais linda que eu já vi passar
Ah, porque estou tão sozinho
Ah, porque tudo é tão triste
Ah, a beleza que existe
A beleza que não é só minha
Que também passa sozinha
Ah, se ela soubesse
Que quando ela passa
O mundo inteirinho se enche de graça
E fica mais lindo
Por causa do amor
"The Girl From Ipanema"
Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking now
When she passes each one she passes
Goes daboo-du-daa
When she walks, it's just like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes
Goes daboo-du-daa
Oh, how I watch her so sadly
How can I tell her I love her
Yes, I would give my heart gladly
But instead, when she walks to the sea,
She looks straight ahead, not at me
Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I go
The girl, the girl, the girl
From Ipanema, from Ipanema...
Oh. how I want her so badly
How, how can I tell her I love her
Yes, I would give my heart gladly
But instead, when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead, not at me
Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile,
But she doesn't see.
She ain't looking at me.

That swing so cool and sway so gentle that
When she passes, each one she passes goes

How can I tell her I love her
Yes, I would give my heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the sea

Muito good!
A versão original em Portugues é bem melhor, nem se compara.
Negativo, essa versão do Frank sinatra com o Tom Jobim é a melhor de todas, 2 cantores extremamente fodas cantando uma musica extremamente foda.
Belleza mesmo!
