    @fractalsauce Jumper wire for series mod worked excellent! Thought to share as no one has commented on testing with the 4 cable method with this mod. My Helix Floor digital effects through the loop now is awesome with my 2007 3Ch Dual Rec. Best results I found was setting the "Loop active output" level pot on front of amp to 2 O'Clock. The "Send level" pot on back also to 2 O'Clock. Make note: If you have a Helix effects through the loop in 4 cable method, be sure to have a FX loop block in your patch before your delay, modulation.etc. Your volume knob on the Helix will also be your amps subsidiary volume with wet effects. Master volume on amp at 1/4 volume as a start point. I am going to install a small 9 post toggle switch to enable both series and parallel options. Cheers!!

    This is great. I have several mesa amps, and my 2005 triple rec was my least favorite. there was always a flabby quality in the low end I could never quite dial out. I tried eq's, boosts, compressors etc, but always preferred my Mesa mark series for the tight and punchy sound. Time based effects never sounded good in the loop.I did this fx loop mod tonight and can't believe the difference. Using a six band eq in the loop actually works now. Totally took the blanket over the speakers mush tone and now this thing can compete with my mark iv for tightness. Really the only reason I kept the amp is it was my first "good" amp, but really it just sat unused, now this thing rips and I'm finally happy with it lol.

      So glad to hear this! And yeah I know exactly what you're talking about with the low end mush. Shortly after I did this mod I got a Wampler EQuator and put it into the FX loop after the gate and it's almost like an entirely different amp now. Still that same Dual Rec tone but dialed into a tighter, punchier modern feel. I love it. Really happy this mod got you to love your first good amp again! Awesome!

    Big thanks to you Fractalsauce as well as to Warped pig for sharing your knowledge. My Dual Rec is now silent even with the volume cranked and with massive gain.
    Extremely pleased with the results of this mod!

    TY greatly for sharing this! This also worked on my triple rectifier just now. I am not great at soldering and was able to complete this mod. Side note, if anyone is into the synergy modules, this mod made mine work with the mesa loop too (not a problem in other amps with serial fx loops). Super awesome!

  • @maxleinenbach2737

    Nice work! I was wondering if it is required to bridge the two remaining cables after the one cable was removed? If i set the mix poti to 100% the resitance of it is nearly 0 OHM anyhow.

    • @fractalsauce
      @fractalsauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry I'm not sure which 2 cables you're referring to?

    • @maxleinenbach2737
      @maxleinenbach2737 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fractalsauce ah sorry my bad I am referring to the two ports which you connect with the black wire. I have removed the wire (right position) but did not touch left and middle position. It works as described, send and return need to be connected, and mix poti at 100 % ~ 0 Ohm. Any thoughts about that?

    • @fractalsauce
      @fractalsauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxleinenbach2737 Are you referring to the 3 gray wires I cut? From left to right they are pins 3, 2, & 1. Take a separate 22 gauge (or higher) wire and solder it to pins 3 & 2. The original gray wires that were connected to it should not be connected and are no longer used. It basically makes the mix pot inactive, so regardless of if it's at 0% or 100% all of your wet signal should head to the power section. I hope that answers your question!

    • @maxleinenbach2737
      @maxleinenbach2737 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fractalsauce Yes i was referring to the pins (gray wires). I removed the wire from pin 1. The mix pot is now only connected to pin 2 & 3. Setting it to 100% should send only wet signal to power section or am I mistaken? A cleaner soluiton is obviously the one in your video bypassing the pot (resistance). Just curious if there is a downside to not bypassing the pot? It works like the presented solution.

    • @fractalsauce
      @fractalsauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxleinenbach2737 Oh I see so all you did was remove the wire on pin 1 and kept the wires on pins 2 & 3 instead of soldering a jumper wire to them? Gotta be honest with you I don't know much about electronic schematics or how everything in the amp is wired together and what affects what. I just happened to find a solution online, tried it, and it worked so I made a video since I couldn't find one.
      With the method that I took, setting the mix pot to 100% or 0% makes no difference and 100% of the wet signal is always sent to the power section. If your method is working and you're not hearing any phasing issues, then by all means more power to you!

    • @fractalsauce

      This was a while ago but I know it was 22 gauge. Most likely stranded tinned copper wire, don't think it was braided aluminum

    Hello, I have the dual rectifier multi watt, the problems is that the loop is always on, I switched of with the controller and always sounds, recently the power tube located behind the loop pre amp tube burned, It smell very bad, I replace and the amp power on and works but with the loop always on, what I have to do.?>

    • @fractalsauce
      @fractalsauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fractalsauce Thanks! I just did it today. It was super easy. There is definitely an improvement in sound but I'm still having phasing issues with my TC Electronic Sentry. That's okay though because I have an old Decimator that sounds better anyway.

    • @fractalsauce
      @fractalsauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brianbowersox8392 Just saw your comment, congrats! Glad you were able to get it taken care of. I don't have any experience with the TC Electronic Sentry, but I know of the Decimator. Personally, I use the Fortin Zuul noise gate pedal (which is similar in functionality to the Decimator) and it's perfect. The amp is dead silent when I'm not playing. No preamp hum whatsoever it's glorious.

  • @davidlajeunesse2168
    @davidlajeunesse2168 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wanna do this mod because my preamp is noisy. With this configuration, is it still possible to use the fx loop? I wanna use the send of the fx loop and send it into the In of a noise gate then out of the noise gate and go in the return of the fx loop so it kills the noisy preamp.
    If this works, it means that you'll always need at least a 1/4 jumper in the fx loop, right?

    • @fractalsauce
      @fractalsauce  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is exactly how I use my setup and was the precise reason I decided to do it. Yes, if you put a noise gate in the fx loop it will kill the preamp noise, and yes you always need and least a 1/4" jumper between the send and return of the fx loop. Good luck!

      @@fractalsauce Man, thanks a lot!
      Really appreciate it!
      There is something make me scratch my head tho. I've seen a lot of people that solder two wires of the mix pot together then solder them on the middle terminal. Do you know why?
      Wait! Here's what I've read:
      1: remove grn wire (short) between fx send ctr. terminal and fx mix pot.
      2. Move long grn. from board to fx send ctr. terminal (from fx mix pot)
      3. Solder orange from fx return jack to red on ctr. of mix pot
      4. Loop will now be series, fx send level pot still active, fx mix pot not.
      I don't know if you understand what that means...

    After finishing this mod, is there a quiet signal Like string noise and such that you can hear when the gate is shut or it’s completely silent?
