I'm glad to year you haven't had any issues with yours....hopefully I have the same results. I've had it out a couple times since posting this video and man do those things sound great! We're supposed to have a couple of nice days here coming up...I'm hoping to get out for a little bit.
I have an 03 Vulcan 1600 Classic with the same Cobra pipes on it. They sound soooo good. 🐍 Stock doesn’t sound bad, but the Cobras are a noticeable difference! Your bike looks & sounds great.
I've got a question then. Don't know if you guys have the FI version or not but I just picked up an 05 1500 classic. It's FI with a cat and I was wondering if this exhaust bypasses it and if you guys tuned yours or not. I want to get this exhaust but I don't know if it'll pass inspection in ny with it
@@Rusty_Fenders motorcycles don’t have to be inspected here in Georgia so I’m not the best person to answer this. I’m assuming you mean emissions inspections.
@Chris Davis so, I did a little digging and actually found my answer. Apparently it's just a resonator/ another muffler so I should be good to go. I appreciate the response, though!
@Chris Davis and NY does safety inspections on ALL vehicles. Not necessarily emissions but my Jeep for example can't even have a check engine light or it will fail instantly and you'll have no inspection sticker. I have to get out of this crooked ass state🤣
sounds great. those pipes look a lot like the ones on my 2007 vulcan 1500 classic. I just bought the bike used last week in fargo. nice scooter. i'm so glad I bought it. they gave me the stock exhaust to take home with me. i'll probably never put them back on though.
one thing i noticed is the sound of the cobra's 'hides' the annoying whine most 1500 vulcans make, including my '92. the cobras sounds and looks great.
@radcop4u I did not add a Power Commander. The general consensus at the time was that if you were changing only pipes it was not needed. Pipes AND air intake would need a PC. I didn't have any issues. Seemed to run good and sounded great.
@boer83 They are how they came from the factory...I didn't add or remove baffles. If you read some of my other comments you'll see that the camera I was using didn't represent the volume differences between stock and aftermarket correctly. It got the way they sounded perfectly, but not the loudness. These pipes are significantly louder than stock...not even in the same ballpark, but not obnoxious either. They sound very nice.
@SSGPops The 2007 model is fuel injected, so no jets. If I had also replaced the air intake I would have had to get a Power Commander or some other fuel controller, but with just the pipe change nothing was required.
@Powerball39 No, I didn't notice any difference in my mileage. The bike seemed to drive ride the same as before the pipe change....just sounded a hell of a lot cooler.
I have a question Feisty....would these pipes fit a 99 Drifter 1500? I have researched different brands but none seem to seperate between Vulcan or Drifter. I know it's the same model basicly but I plan on possibly seling my Triumph & getting the older Drifter I think it still looks good. The pipes leave much to be desired though.
@Markel125L It wouldn't let you reply to my post because I deleted it right after I posted. I over reacted. My fault. The camera I used in the video seemed to almost level out the volume differences between the stock and Cobra pipes. The difference in tone was noticeable in the video, but not the volume. The pipes sound really good. At idle there's a nice loping rumble and when you get on it they really open up. No louder than most other bikes out there though. Take care man.
Great sound - I too have an 07 and am looking to upgrade those pipes, were you able to remove or just disconnect that pesky exhaust collector/muffler on the underside of the bike? I have concerns about that thing, I don't know it's function and/or if new pipes will need to go through it? What did you do? Looks like you're disconnected...do tell :)
@jfeisty there saying that you won't be grandfathered in. But the city north of us issued tickets last summer and they're being fought, because of the way cops measured the db level and the fact that there was already traffic noise around. So, I'm just gonna wait and see. Thanks for replying.
@manuelsantiba I added only the exhaust...but mine was fuel injected. I'm not sure if that matters or not. I was going to point you to the kawasakimotorcycle-dot-org forums to ask them if all the extras are needed, but the site seems to be down.
@xxprogressxx Yeah, I hear ya. I was actually faced with the same dilema. I ended up paying off the 1500, sold it, and bought a Victory Kingpin. This 1500 sure was a great bike though...no complaints. And the stock pipes WERE quiet. This video doesn't seem to highlight the actual difference in volume between the stock and Cobra pipes. Good luck in your decision.
hey i just got my 1998 man, its nice but its not nearly as nice as yours. Hey man do you know how to get rust off the bike? Its been a little neglected but i wanna fix her up a bit.. thanks man.
did yo have to install a power commander. i have a 2007 fi and wanting to put on some vh longs or some mac fats but everyone is saying i need a power commander or else ti will run to lean and mess up the motor did you have any problems ???
@vac0002 Man, I have no idea how many decibels they are....I just know that they're a lot louder than stock. If you put them on now will you be grandfathered in if/when the new law goes into effect?
thanks bro.. the sales rep kept trying to push the dyno.. saying the bike came from factory already running lean and that it will run even leaner causing backfire and engine damage.. pheww that looks even better on my budget do u still have ur bike.???
Her in South Dakota the home of the Sturgis rally most everyone runs straight pipes because they have no muffler laws, no inspection laws , no helmet laws etc.
Mine are in the fedx truck on their way to papa. Yes, whoever designed the stock exhaust should be fired, what were they thinking putting that" pork belly", MUFFLER!! design on this fine machine. They must have some skin in the aftermarket product's
Donald Woodford After Installing mine on a 07 FI. I noticed the Bike Backfire on Deceleration. I purchased the Cobra Digital Fuel Tuner "recommended". This should solve the problem, I'll will post results when it is installed.
Unfortunately it's still to "wintery" for me to take it out...so 0 miles since the exhaust change. These pipes have a full length heat shield, though, so the pipes themselves will probably blue you won't be able to see it. That was one of the main reasons I bought the Cobras.
You always have to wonder how much they're just pushing for the sale, ya know? I rode mine for about 10k miles with just pipes and didn't seem to have any problems. I ended up selling it and getting a Victory....so no, I don't have it anymore.
Hey what back rest do you have on that bike i believe i have the same exact one. as well as the same exact looking bike haha the reason i ask is because i want to get a luggage rack.
@dickdiggler2 You're right that they're basically the same bike, but I couldn't tell ya if pipes made for an '07 Classic will fit a 99 Drifter. The only thing I can suggest is going to kawasakimotorcycle-dot-org/forum or vulcandrifterriders-dot-com and asking the question there. Good luck! The Drifter definitely has personality.
Those sound great! I just purchased a 2001 Vulcan Drifter 1500 and I am going to put a pair of them on it! Thanks for the video !!

getting me some for christmas...

do the new pipes make any difference in your gas mileage? I have the same bike - same color...
nice video. Great sounding pipes. I love the vulcan classic, it is a sweet machine

So you did no change to the carbs?
These will sound amazing with my 05 1500 classic. Was there any issues with yours or is it just a bolt on and go?
No issues whatsoever...if I can do it anyone can. And man, these sounded so good in person.

@BCkayakcamper Yup. Makes it sound like a totally different beast compared to the stock pipes. I'd buy them again.
I've got a 2005 Vulcan 1500 and considered getting the same pipes...worth the money in your opinion?
@vac0002 Man, I have no idea how many decibels they are....I just know that they're a lot louder than stock. If you put them on now will you be grandfathered in if/when the new law goes into effect?

Get the reed valve block off plates. No popping on my 05 1600 mean streak. 👍
I have Vince Hines straight pipes. They look just like those. I burned my leg one time with those. They get super hot. They sound great though.
sweet bike!

Pretty sure that was the Kawasaki Fire & Steel backrest and luggage rack
@hollynator70 Yep, get rid of it. Aftermarket pipes will not route through it. Gets rid of about 20 pounds.
Thanks. No, never had my wife tell me it vibrated worse after installing the pipes. Doesn't seem right...hmmmmm.
O damn, I think I just shot one. Nice bike LOL :D
