What is quite interesting is that watching this 4.5 years later, both went to college but Wolf is now the superior prospect, at 140 in the rankings and rising fast, while Brandon Holt hasn’t had nearly as much success. Wolf has developed massively physically compared to this video, his legs are huge and he serves and hits much bigger now. While Holt still seems to have the same weight of shot now as he did then. Wolf will likely break top 100 this year: Holt still has a lot of work to do to even get close to winning Challengers.
Watching this after they just played each other in the Dallas Open 2023. Crazy to see them duking it out on the ATP tour years later. And kudos to Wolf for stepping up his game to ridiculous levels. Would love to see him push towards top 20 in the world.
ball at 2:11 was in. its annoying, seems desperate, and also unsportsman-like to celebrate EVERY point won. i really wish young players (Wolf) would stop this.
td866 why would you not celebrate a point if you won it? It's about positive reinforcement. Sadly with him I believe it also lead to a level of complacency!
Wolf got his fist pumps from Djokovic, his forehand with the feet wide and bum backwards from Djokovic. Backhand from Djokovic. Serve is different though. But yeah, clearly he copied a lot from Djokovic
It was a good match but both guys need to work on finishing points when at the net. Most of the volleys from both of them were weak and allowed the opponent to get back into the point.
@@prestonsmith7279 No need to get offended. It was a very reasonable comment - their volleys are disproportionately bad compared to their groundstrokes.
Remember watching this video when it came out and seeing all the comments against J.J. Wolf, Not this dude is 21, world number 144 and has already won 2 ATP Challenger titles.
I seriously hope Holt's development has been slowed by injury and not by a lack of size or pace on his balls. He is an incredible college player but his results on the Challenger Tour are not very inspiring
yeah wolf hit too many loopy balls and only occasionally flattened them out, but you cant really attack with spin unless you have serious rpms, holt took advantage and really ripped what wolf hit to him especially in the first
Wolf struggles with depth on his backhand. He looks (and probably thinks) like he’s playing hard and hitting big shots, but it isn’t effective. Volleys need some work also. Pretty good feet, good serve, and a solid forehand.
Some are commenting that Holt is just consistent and doesn't go for the killer shot. Why? If you're playing and winning without taking big chance why take those chances? It doesn't mean he can't, it just means he's able to beat his opponents without having to completely extend himself.
Wolf is the kind of player where it seems like he's hitting hard because of his huge wind up, but his shots actually are really weak. Like there's barely any penetration cause he hits so much spin. His style of playing won't get him very far in college tennis
+ucdlin Actually he is 27 in the junior ranking. He played two G1 in this year and won one, and in the other one he reached the final. You must see more junior tennis to say those things!
That feeling when you think you're a pretty good tennis player, then you watch a couple of kids tear the cover off the ball on TH-cam.
How old are they here?
They are like man kids
@@stevenmorrison5703 JJ was 17

nice!
What about the mullet?
holt just beat fritz!!! and wolf just beat rba
They're both in the US Open now. Crazy
now holt caught up. almost 3R of us open beating fritz in the first round
Quite different demeanors these players possess. Holt is so calm while Wolf is throwing his emotion into every point.
Something goes here... Difficult to say what is better... I think it depends ob your personality, but the second one can get you in far more trouble
Wolf is like 200 atp now while in college sick
Which is why holt destroyed
@@curiousgeorge6921 ikr
Doesn't matter wolf is 200 in atp rankings
Both are really good but the whole time I thought wolf was winning until I looked at the score in the back
Q Squared so true lol
same
Q Squared
This is a highlight. They don’t show most of the mistakes and UEs
Q Squared be attentive dude
Q Squared lol wolf is better nowadays.
Love the style of mr light blue!!
George Lin don't we all? he's so relaxed it looks like he's barely even playing, yet he's actually destroying everyone

crazy how they both became the two best college players in the nation
ball at :33 was in, clipped line
If it did, it was by a millimeter because to my eyes, it was out.
I thought maybe it was in too. Very close. Surprised light blue didnt flinch about the call.
Obviously in. Don’t know wtf you are looking at.
Wolf is now 83rd in the ATP rankings. Crazy
You’re cute
0:34 out??? Is in
That is totally in
@@silentquartz1124 yes was in
No it's out. Watch it in 0.25 speed
And serve at 0:38 was out
I love Holt! He is such a calm guy
JJ wolf ( dark blue ) is currently ranked 147ATP ranked.
Brandon Holt ( light blue ) is currently ranked 613ATP.

Karma that he lost.
I agree
2:12 ball was in
JJ Wolf is now in the third round of the us open while Holt is nowhere to be seen. Crazy turn around
Holt beat fritz at the us open last year brilliant stuff
I remember seeing holt in Wimbledon but I forgot which one
Please tell me Holt won, I like his game and personality so much more.
Yes, Holt won.
6-1 6-7(5) 6-0
Check description. :-)
Bryan Gregory he won 6-1 6-7(5) 6-0 it’s in the description
Holt won 6-1 6-7(5) 6-0
Bryan Gregory though now wolf is the better player
@@tommyrooch4195 in case u guys didn't get it the first three times, Holt won 6-1 6-7(5) 6-0
ur welcome
It seems like Wolf has a bigger game, but Holt was playing smarter. He was picking his spots to be aggressive.
A Djokovic imitator vs. a Murray imitator?
James McLoad no I don’t think holts copying Murray really, Wolf is definitely a Djokovic imitator though lol
Wolf got his fist pumps from Djokovic, his forehand with the feet wide and bum backwards from Djokovic. Backhand from Djokovic. Serve is different though. But yeah, clearly he copied a lot from Djokovic

Agreed/ Both fantastic players from the baseline. Volleys are really abysmal. Like truly terrible.
DrumWizard16 should probably see more of Holt now that he's in college. Really improved his net game.
It's a common weakness for junior players. Even Federer has pointed out there are a lack of next gen of players with competent skills at the net.
bad volleys but their both playing D1 college tennis while your at youtube comment section university....
@@prestonsmith7279 No need to get offended. It was a very reasonable comment - their volleys are disproportionately bad compared to their groundstrokes.
And now Wolf is slappin bombs, clappin moms, and he made it to the 4th round at the Aussie. Insane growth !
what's the point of one whole lineman?
there are two but we can't see the other one
I think there's only one because at 2.20nhe is complaining to the linesman on the opposite end :/
@@risiateb he’s complaining to the chair
I love this angle! Nice footage Colette!
Remember watching this video when it came out and seeing all the comments against J.J. Wolf, Not this dude is 21, world number 144 and has already won 2 ATP Challenger titles.
nobody is against him? they just saying his fist pumping not his skills
What's he complaining about at 2:18?
He thought it was out, but thanks to the video quality these days we can clearly see it actually bounced INSIDE the line!
but it was in....
The bounce at 2:12
Both of these guys play a similar game, like watching a clone of each other. Holt slightly more consistent apparently
Wolf now plays #1 for Ohio State men’s tennis
And has now made it to R3 at the US Open
Now 4th round of the Australian open
0:48 how did they not call that out?
Dark blue is the token “fist pump after every point” guy 😂
problem is, the length of the strokes. they are way to short.
somebody likes Djokovic
Wolf’s forehand is a direct copy. Lol.
2:19 was in WHATS he talking about!!
Was talking about a previous shot in the rally but it looked in aswell lol
He was talking about 2:13 or 2:14 opponent backhand comes off the line...
lol, the second point was IN not OUT. I played it back in SLOMO
At 2:18 . Who are you trying to fool ?
Did Brandon ever go anywhere? Can’t find anything on his tennis career. Lots on JJ
Brandon just started on the challenger tour last year. He went the full 4 years at USC.
Too much emotion from Wolf. Needs to calm down.
0.35 ... I may be half blind due to old age, but boy, that was in!
They're both playing at the us open as we speak!
2:16 the ball was so in
What’s the difference between an “open” and a “closed”
Does this guy have 2 second serves?
What strings and tension does Wolf use??
I seriously hope Holt's development has been slowed by injury and not by a lack of size or pace on his balls. He is an incredible college player but his results on the Challenger Tour are not very inspiring
Holt plays like Andy Murray
George White I see Federer in him
A. Thunder same
Looks like a more aggressive version of Murray IMO
He has a forehand like federer but point construction like murray
No his forehand back swing resembles Djokovic
Did Holt get bored in the 2nd set?
yeah wolf hit too many loopy balls and only occasionally flattened them out, but you cant really attack with spin unless you have serious rpms, holt took advantage and really ripped what wolf hit to him especially in the first
indeed wolf saw more success with flat shots. He he used spin, he should've at least went for better placement
Wolf struggles with depth on his backhand. He looks (and probably thinks) like he’s playing hard and hitting big shots, but it isn’t effective. Volleys need some work also. Pretty good feet, good serve, and a solid forehand.
the second point was in but they put it like it was out ( 0:33 to 0:36 )
The red/orange guy is like a very weak Coric
00:34 that ball wasn´t out.
Some are commenting that Holt is just consistent and doesn't go for the killer shot. Why? If you're playing and winning without taking big chance why take those chances? It doesn't mean he can't, it just means he's able to beat his opponents without having to completely extend himself.
Wolf wins points when he hits deeper. He has a solid forehand but if he can consistently hit more deeper regularly, he can win quite easily.
Holt with good bloodline (Tracy Austin is his mom, boy did she have a pure backhand)
This match is between Mr. L. Blue and Mr. D. Blue.
Wolf played Medvedev in US open round 3 this yeat
5:38 out.
That looked like a really good match!
Wolf exploded after this season! He’s a complete powerhouse now!
dark blue top guys has a sort of similar backhand swing to Djokovic
no comment on Holt's mother?
Wolf is the kind of player where it seems like he's hitting hard because of his huge wind up, but his shots actually are really weak. Like there's barely any penetration cause he hits so much spin. His style of playing won't get him very far in college tennis
+ucdlin he's a 5 star blue chip on tennis recruiting...to classify his shots as "really weak" is beyond laughable.
+ucdlin Actually he is 27 in the junior ranking. He played two G1 in this year and won one, and in the other one he reached the final. You must see more junior tennis to say those things!
wouldnt call m weak but they lack penetration fs.
Let's also not forget that Wolf was around 16 years old..... Crazy that he got this far
What about Rafa?
boys huh, this is really impressive.
At 0:34 the ball was in it was just on the line
FIGHT!!!!
Wolf is now top 200 in the world. And Holt is the number 1 singles at USC and top 500 in the world
Holt is not number 1 at USC Daniel Cukeirman is.
Great footage!
You should only celebrate a point when it is important ... Not points like the first in the match
jj wolf is really solid but the dude can't volley lol
0:34 was in idgaf
0:33 was in
Now in Us Open Btw
This is so cool to watch nowadays
Was in!
Fun to watch!!!!
copy of Novak Djokovic

Muy buen nivel. Me gustó el partido.
2:11 its IN
his motion looks like djocovic
Pretty obvious holt was gonna win, way more effortless of a game style
kid in white cap too powerful.
Excellent tennis.
Tracy Austins boy all grown up 💪💪
0:32 Clearly in to me
2:48 was to big for wolf
They are almost better than some of the female players lol
they are.
Ron Hernandez
They would give Naomi Osaka and Jelena Ostapenko a run for their money.
Pre mullet
0:33
When Brandon becomes world number 1 I can say I knew about him first
🤣
No serve and volley and not hitting on the rise for a majority of shots and need to stand inside the baseline when receiving serve.
Mans just fist pumped on an unforced error. What a chach
2:11
Good play but Wolf was playing balls in the service box to much.
The two netflix male leads fighting:
0.33, ball was in
Both are awesome players tho
Wtf. 0:36 was clearly in
0:34
Work on those volleys Wolf.
Great tennis

Those serves were very sketchy
