My family and I lived in Tangiers in the late 1970's... (I was not a fan of LAMB) I was invited to a Moroccan family's house for break-fast during Ramadan one year, and they served this... PHENOMENAL! I couldn't help myself... I ate much of the lamb at the table that night! A favorite dish and one that I will try to make myself now with your recipe! Thank you and RAMADAN MUBARAK to you and yours! Thank you for the SWEET MEMORIES.
Thank you for sharing your memories ❤️. Lamb cooked like this is just heavenly! Wow Tangier in the 1970s, that must’ve been very interesting. Let me know how the lamb comes out. I’m here if you need anything. Ramadane mobarak 🌙🌙🌙
@@SarahDawood-ce3bc Awesome!!! Once you get comfortable with spices, it will be unlucky a whole other cooking level 😊. Cheering for you from Hamburg !!!
@@ligilu I’m biased of course but I think Morocco is worth multiple visits. So much to see and so much food to enjoy 😄. During the 4 hours of slow cooking make sure to baste the meat or flip it so that it’s doesn’t get dry 👍🏼
We eat it with bread. Couscous normally comes with own vegetables and meat normally and it’s not used as side as some restaurants can make you believe 😄. I would replace lamb with beef but not chicken. This kind of sweet and savory would not work well with chicken!
@@KuzinaWithSimo definitely a video about ras al hanout - the mixes you get in Middle Eastern shops is usually all wrong, at least here in Brooklyn. It's really spicy hot.
If you put a whole rack, yes. If you cut them, they will over cook. So I would cook the entire rack and play around with the decoration. It should look nice 😊
Thank you for the recipe. Can I cook this in a slow cooker? Can Chicken be used instead of lamb shanks for this recipe? I am also interested to see a video about ras al hanout, please.
This definitely can be made in a slow cooker. If you use chicken instead of lamb, don’t cook it for too long and think about transferring it into the oven for a quick 10 min (high temperature) roast, just to have a nice crispy skin. Read meat tend to fit better that sweet and savory mix but i but the chicken will taste good as well 😊. If you need anything, just leave me a comment 😊. Happy cooking !!!
@@KuzinaWithSimo Thank you for the prompt reply :-) I have my Moroccan friends coming over for dinner ,during next week. I would like to add this dish to my table. I will use lamb cubes in a slow cooker. Can you please guide me through it. I appreciate your help.
@@shabmoradik2590 should be exactly like the recipe then. If the meat from a young animal, 2 to 3 hours in the slow cooker should be enough. If the meat is from an older animal I would say 3 to 4. Just keep checking in on it once and a while. Don’t let it get dry. Add a little bit of water if you need to 👍🏼😊
3-4 hours on low temperature. But if you go for 8 hours it’s also ok. The meat will probably start falling apart which is also nice 😊. Lamb, especially from a young animal, can be ready quickly.

What is the name of the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamon pods, star anise mix/powder if I want to buy it ready?
If you find something called Baharat, it will be close to it. But I don’t know of some mix that has exactly these spices.
Thank you for the recipe. Will give it a try. But 1 whole star anise is too much
You can go with half. 😊
Yummy!!!!!!!
Great recipes !! Was wondering which Dutch oven you use Bcz I don’t see any stains on it :) I bought le creuset and it stained in one week .
I use a cheap one called ProCook, I just scrub it extra hard for TH-cam 😄. The creuset is probably better !
My shanks are just marinating. Cluld I cluld them in a slow cooker that has a searing function. And if yes, how long do you think. Thank you
