Yesterday was my daughter's high school graduation. I had on a long chiffon Ralph Lauren dress. I was given so many compliments, yet so many side eyes, was actually told, "You overdressed for this, didn't you". I was about to reply UNTIL I observed my surroundings. THEN replied, "If I was in a strip club, your opinion would be fact" As a woman and mother, I was mortified and embarrassed at majority of the women attire.
My mom spoke LOUDLY might I add, "she know she don't need to have that on at a graduation"
Of coursed I agreed but ask her to keep it to herself, I can fight 1 or 2 at the same time but you gone get me killed, it's a whole damn stadium full of these bums, I can't protect you from all of them!!!
Why would you embarrass yourself and your child, you're a representation of each other. Shuler is right, sad to say but a picture tells a 1000 words and unfortunately this one is yelling only one good word. CONGRATULATIONS (to that baby)

I went to a friend of mine granddaughter's high school graduation. Her sister had on a black one piece. I'll admit it was nice looking on her but, when we got outside, I didn't know it was that clear see through. I'm looking around like, "Am I the only one noticing this?" This was something you couldn't help but notice.

I am an older woman. I have taken the brave step of speaking to some young people, men and women alike, about their inappropriate attire. I do so in a grandmotherly manner: “ Child, come here. Now I know you can tell me to shut up. But I’m just gonna tell you. What you’re wearing is just inappropriate. Blah, blah, blah.” Not once has any one of those young people sassed or disrespected me. They just say, yes ma’am. I think that we adults have to really take our stand in our communal village. Shuler: I know you’re having a positive impact on the nation. Someone must be the voice of reason, and you are one of those voices. Big thumbs up!!!

There are still enough examples of decency floating around that the little ones can pick it up and know when “ it don’t feel right” even if they haven’t found the words for it yet or live in a house where telling truth is equated to talking back. Yet it cute when they cuss. Good help these babies. Thankfully not all of the new generation are like this.

I had a friend back in the day who literally transformed into a dude.
Cut off hair, sagging, tattoo, earrings, muscles, mannerisms.
She loved her son so much.
When her son graduated from High School, she did the wig, the dress, the make-up, heels, purse, nails the works.
    She looked so freakin Beautiful.
Her son said that's all he wanted bc she was such a good Mom. He wanted to see how she use to look.
We all cried, took pictures had a great evening.
We couldn't wait to help her take all that ish off and be herself.
That's what mothers do for their children.
She didNOT want to embarrass him.
To this day, he don't give a flying f what you think about his mother.

She showed up and we really don't know her reasoning for dressing as she did. We can criticize and speculate as to why she didn't fully cover, but to be honest, she is top covered, bottom covered, no coochie or cakes hanging out ( I guess cakes could be questionable) from what we can see. So she deserves a point for being there for her son. If her manner of dress is inappropriate to you, just look away.

I am hoping that we as black people will get back to putting family first. Even if you are 16 when you have a child, your life as an adult has just begun. Your main priority "should " be the child from that day forward. What you need or want "should" become second in priority and choice. When parents put themselves first only they benefit. When parents put kids first We All benefit from it! Better parenting produce better kids, better kids are better adults who are better assets to the community.
