For anybody wondering about the 60 ohm resistance on these: It still sounds really good just plugged in a phone! It has room to improve even more when plugged in to amps that can drive it harder.
Resistance is just one aspect that determines how hard is a headphone to drive. The other factor is sensitivity, and at 101 dB/mW these are quite efficient, so you can use them with basically any source without issues.
It's crazy that the price has gone up as much as it has! I used to get these for $7.99 at Kmart and Sears from 2011-2016. Still a great deal all around though.
@@zpolt yeah I got them for that price used. New costs $43 on ebay. I first heard about them from Dankpods and after may reviews I watched and read about these said they sound comparable to $100-$200 headphones. The earpad and headband quality are noticeably cheap, but that's totally fine for the price.
Since the drivers of my Porta Pro died for some reason I replaced them with Ksc75s and couldn't be happier. Compared to the clip-on style the bass has more presence because of the pressure from the porta's headband which I actually prefer soundwise.
I still use this for 2 years now. My first ksc75's driver was broken then I bought the mass drop edition and replace the pads. Everytime I browse for another headphone for the same price, this headphone always hold me to buy new one. if one day it break, I'll either repair and mod it with mmcx or find a replacement.
I excitedly bought a pair of KPH40 s and was immediately disappointed by the boomy soggy bass and lackluster presence and detail. Even with EQ I wasn't happy. So I bought a pair of KSC75 s, did the MMCX conversion, and popped them onto the headband of the KPH40 with Yaxi pads and now I can't stop listening to them. Oh yeah, I gave away the KPH40 drivers.
Are gaming headsets good enough for hi-fi music? The Asus ROG Delta for example has ESS 9218 Quad DAC built in, but I wonder how it's tuned. Appreciate a review of this headset. Thank you.
Philips SHP9500/S = Horrible treble grain. Below average soundstage, mediocre imaging. Poor detail. Sharp 6k peak. Incredibly overrated by people who haven't heard better options in the price range like KSC75, Porta Pro, and CAL.
@@LateraL1ty Great choice. KSC75 = Above average soundstage, good imaging. Amazing resolution/detail that beats anything under $100 and good tonality to boot. You could buy these and never feel unhappy listening to music. Recommended mods are Yaxi earpads and the compatible Parts Express headband.
@@andresvr8357 Porta Pro = Above average soundstage, great imaging. Basically a warmer and darker KSC75. That's the stock Porta Pro and I prefer the stock KSC75 stock over the stock PP. However... ...the Porta Pro drivers really shine when you put them on a Parts Express headband with Yaxi Pads. My favorite Koss mod.
i have an earbud, an iem and a headphone but i keep coming back to my clip on headphone that i bought in 2007, why? i think it's because i could feel the sound, headphones has a muff that both insulate and absord the vibrations of the drivers, iem and buds has a small drivers but a clip on with-out a foam(mine's long gone now) can give you that sensation on your ears, like it's being massage, it's that tactile connection that gives clip on(no foam) an extra dimension
I got a pair of these and recently the cable snaped near the headphone. The cables are complete trash, they are way too stiff. So i soldered a new cable, they are very easy to repair.
Whenever I get new cabled earbuds or headphones, I use an old friendship bracelet knot I learned as a kid to wrap the rubber casing all the way down and reinforce it. You think that’ll help here, or should I just replace the wires anyways before I do that?

In stock earclip form, no you can't, the reason they have less bass is due to them barely touching your ear, its a major design flaw. The only way to fix it is to either bend the clips to make them tighter, or add a headband. If you use a headband, I have heard from reddit that it can only handle a few db increase until distortion. Headband and Yaxi pads increase bass significantly without EQ so IMO not worth it to EQ. (I think with headband and Yaxi pads the bass is just right)

Although open backs are hard to use outside, I must say that personally I've never had problems with isolation when at home. Simply because when I'm listening to something at a decent volume it covers outside noise, and even when I listen at low volume my mind just tunes out further away noises.
