The windows don't roll up automatically so you don't amputate a body part. The steering can be stiffened up with steering stabilizers and tie rod ends.
I have a 2018 JL Rubicon and one thing learned from my godfather is that if you filled the tank when is halfway empty you will consumed less gas than waiting until the vehicle is empty. He worked for Toyota for over 40 years as a mecha 14:28 and he thought me many tricks and I do it all the time and it works for me.
I was gonna say, I'm listening to that motor rev up, and trans shift down constantly during this drive, so between those 35"s and that shifting, there goes your mileage.....take yer foot out of it and drop to 33's, or just love stopping for fuel, grab a drink and enjoy the drive.
Is the transmission constantly shifting? It sounds very unpleasant. I'm dying to get one for road trips, but I think a mini van would be better as a camping vehicle?
I have a minivan (Grand Caravan) and a Jeep (JK). By far, the minivan excels at everything except, of course, technical terrain. I prefer the minivan for camping due to the spacious interior and comfort while driving. My short wheelbase jeep, combined with the solid front axle, is tiresome on long highway drives.
Also the road noise is horrible in the jeep (just like this video). I added sound deadening material throughout the tub and passenger compartment which helped a bit. But the drone is annoying.
Mileage is around 16 to 17 mpg with 35's and 4.88 gears. I think I lost 1 to 2 mpg with this setup. Going smaller tires with the new gears would kill fuel mileage.
Another person commented much earlier about gearing but I want to ask. Did you adjust the speedometer and odometer for the 35 inch tires? Your fuel economy numbers don't add up. 75 miles per day for 3 days is 225 miles. 225 miles divided by 15 gallons is 15 mpg not 17.5 and that is if the tire size is true to the miles. I agree about the fuel tank size. I have a ( 4 door which in YHO is not really a Jeep) and my fuel tank is 18 gallons because I have the diesel engine which requires a 5 gallon DEF tank. So, is the smaller tank a 2 door Wrangler thing? You have 35 inch tires that are much heavier than stock tires. You have it lifted which means poorer fuel economy. You may not be displaying the correct miles and speed driven because of the larger tire size. You have had it 15 months and have only been off road about 4 times? Sounds like you need to have smaller tires for a daily driver. Just MHO.
A few questions to unpack...for adjusting for tire size, yes. I used the Tazer to adjust for the larger tire size. For fuel tank size, every time I run it down to where it says 0 miles to empty I can never get more than about 15 gallons in it. To be fair, I've never run it empty where it quits running so maybe it'll keep going a good while when it says 0 miles to empty. As for tires, yeah, I could have kept the 33" tires but I think proportionally it looks a lot better with the 35's. I daily drive this Jeep and have no real complaints about the 35" tires. As for wheeling trips, well, I wish I could go much more often than I have. I have three Jeeps and I don't always take the same one. Headed to the Trail Hero with my buggy next week. Haven't wheeled the "green goblin" since March.
Great content, I use my wrangler as a "daily" drive to work as well, although I do not go to work everyday. Agree with the gear issue, I found out a cheap "cheating" way to solve the gear issue. When you want to cruise on highway, just switch to the manual mode, and put into gear 8. Wrangler will keep in gear 8 unless speed decreases significantly or you switch by yourself. The only catch to this solution is do not forget to put it back to drive gear if your speed will change significantly or you are going to go uphill which requires a lower gear for more torque to keep the speed of your wrangler.
Good ear…when I made the video I was on 35” tires and had not re-geared. The Jeep drove fine but would search between 7th and 8th gear. I’ve since re-geared the axles and am now running 4.88 gears. I really love how it drives and wheels now. As for the exhaust, I deleted the muffler. It really isn’t bad but certainly louder than it was with the muffler. In 8th gear you really can’t tell a difference. When accelerating from a stop it is a good bit louder. I removed the muffler because I was landing on it when off road.
Not every Wrangler has this issue. I can drive my 2-door 23 Willys Sport totally relaxed, one arm on the highway at 80 - no problem. My buddy has a Rubicon, 21 model (all stock), and driving his jeep creeps me out. Not sure if it has anything to do with the type of front axle (33 vs 44) or the factory quality control, but this is the second time that I hear a Rubicon owner talking about lose steering.
I have a 2 door 2021 Rubicon and the steering definitely had me paying extra attention on tight 2 lane roads for awhile 🤣. I must have gotten used to it though because I don’t even think about it anymore.
@@slavakuznetsov4966 My 2021 Gladiator Rubicon doesn't have any steering issue. And its a very nice, comfortable, smooth-riding long-distance road-trip vehicle...been on 3 of them already (TX/NM/CO). The tank is supposedly 17 gallons; however, I’ve never gotten more than 15 at fill ups. I’ve run it down to where the computer says 0 miles to empty and still only get 15 gallons in it. I’ve never run it dry so maybe there is an additional 2 gallons. Depending on fuel prices it usually costs between $40 and $50 per tank.
@@caseycrawls4466 I get the impression you aren't very "mechanical" (not a put down) When I lifted my Jeep and changed tire sizes, I changed the ring and pinon to adjust the gearing. Then when you said Patagonia tires (cheap Chinese tires) it was over. I only use Cooper tires. That's Dick Cepek or Mickey Thompson or other brands on my hot rod Mustang, Jeep or truck. I also did brake work. Bigger tires really affect braking. Big heavy tires are big heavy flywheels that require a lot more force to slow down than the lighter stock tires.
2L Turbo is so much better now then V6. Averaging 20/23 city/highway. Got 27 once at 55-60 MPH. But what really matters is that the crappy eTorque is now a part of V6 drive-train, not 2L T- main reason I opted for it. Thanks for the feedback and am glad you are enjoying your Jeep. I just hit 51,000 in mine and am still enjoying it. Love the V6. Gas mileage sucks but has plenty of power, especially with the new 4.88 axle gears!

Just found an error around 7:30 minute mark...the V6 has about 270ish hp, not 370! Oops...wishful thinking. Believe it is about 220 to the ground.
V6 has 285 HP

That makes no sense unless you’re making a joke? Fuel consumption rate has nothing to do with how full the tank is.
You are fully correct about the power up one touch feature is a ridiculous missing feature
Interesting comments. I agree on the window thing. Why not do it right
it would cause saftey issue ( pinch point ) some people have kids & some are just clumbsy

The fuel mileage really doesn't bother me. It's a fun Jeep, especially since regearing to 4.88! I really like the 35" tires on this little Jeep.
My 2021 3.6 V6 Etorque takes 5.5 quarts of oil, 5 leaves it a little under. Fox 2.0 steering stabilizer fix my steering.
Thanks, I’ll check out the steering stabilizer.
A lot of the steering play is the Patagonias they only ride on the center tread on the highway

Yeah, it hunts for gears a bit since increasing the tire size. A regear is in it's future to fix that.

The giant wheels and tires will decrease mpg by at least 4 mpg. If you do rarely take it off did, might switch them back to stock.

Any corrosion issues. I have been hearing it is pretty common on later models around the hinges. And the hood

More oil capacity is usually better for the engine. Longer life, more lubrication and cooler. Less isn't better.

It’s small but I’ve sat in it and, while not overly comfortable, it’s not bad. My 16 year old son has sat in the back and does fine.
