My 1985 vintage -61 has no cyl hole, no pitting or scoring. Compression is ~155. These older -61s are such a total workhorse. They're like the small block chevy of saws; so easy to mod! Yes, the gas/oil cap o-ring seems susceptible to weeping even if regularly cleaned. The saw shown here is a later version with the plastic chain brake handle; original -61's had a metal handle. Enjoyed this video. thanks.

Ooot and aboot- Canadian Eh? After watching this young lady mechanic I get this dude filling in for her. Definitely sounds like he knows what he is doing, but on the fence about it all 😂. Informative explanation from a highly skilled technician (s). Great channel if you own a saw, no matter the brand- seems like they do all that arrive.

No, not a big deal - I didn't have them in stock at the time of the video or I would have captured that as well, thanks for watching!

No need to cut the pump gasket, if you pressurize it and then tap the needle and it looses the pressure you don't have a false reading.

Ever see a jelly like substance in the fuel system/lines of old saws that used to run non-ethanol fuels? Might find on the carb screen or in the carb itself. I think the ethanol releases residue in the tank or maybe it relates to moisture.

I'm pretty sure it says somewhere in the Husky repair manual not to use Stihl branded tools. ;-)

They all come in for service -all brands, all models. It really depends on how big of a saw you need and your application.

@@marriedwithsmallengines They do indeed. I love Made in Japan, Sweden and German saws. None too keen on any other places of manufacture or assembly. I've been using and restoring/repairing saws for 50 years now and I have a garage in Australia that is saw heaven! I like your channel and I wish you both all the best for 2024.

We store it in 55 gallon steel drums and it’s gets picked up by a waste company.
