    I liked the test. Great video.
    I would love to see additional tests / comparisons between the X32 and the Wing.

      Thanks Thomas, let me know what other stuff you’d like to see compared. Appreciate the feedback.

      @@DcSoundOp I'd like to see comparisons between the Wing and the X32 in terms of PreAmps, maybe even effects and compression
      And it would be cool to see the same comparisons between the latest mixer models Wing - A&H SQ - Presonus

      @@Thomas.Hoermann71 Thanks Thomas, I’m trying to get an SQ in for comparisons in the near future. Dave Rat has some SQ videos coming up soon I think comparing them to the M32 and X32 & I’m excited to see what he thinks about it all.

    Interesting. I would vote for the Wing as having the better sound as the X32's high pitched oscillation could be noticeable at lower levels.

      Thanks for watching Rob! Even though it is buried, it was surprising to hear that extra noise on the X32. I'm curious to test the other X32 models to see if it's unique to the rack version for some reason.

      @@DcSoundOp Yes, the sample is so amplified but it does make you wonder. I look forward to any followup you post. Thanks for the hard work.

    What you can do, if you have a „calibrated“ (or at least known) low level sine source: record at max gain (where effective input noise generally is lowest) both the signal generator and the termination resistor.
    Then you could quantify the effective input noise in dBu and also create noise spectra in V/√Hz.
    Personally I think the tones are not too critical, especially for PA use, as they are comparable to the noise level after all, wouldn’t want to use them in a studio with low gain microphones, though.

      Thanks for the message Christian, I saw your other one too about the XR18. Hopefully we can get one of those in for testing in the future too, I’d be curious to see if it’s similar to the Flow 8 I have here.

    it sounds like the stagebox and wing have pretty decent noise. the x32 rack has alot of weird noise now i need to test mine

    The Wing and the stage box seem to be identical in the test. The noise floor for all three are about the same. The X32 has something else going on that's really strange. I know this is 80db down, but what is that noise?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was surprising for sure how similar the S32 and Wing are, still digging to figure out what's causing the noise in the X32 and if it's common to all models or just the rack version. Thanks for the message Dale & thanks for watching.

      Most likely candidate is LCD backlight or LED PWM. See if adjusting the lighting levels changes it.

      @@DcSoundOp yes, definitely. And different input jacks may have different signatures in terms of coupled in tones from power supply, motor faders etc… I still have a small XR18 in a rack, and those preamps are much worse, and vary a lot: the middle ones (as placed on the front panel) have much less interference, also the ones with „High-Z input“ (Guitar DI, as opposed to normal Line level) are even noisier.

      @@DcSoundOp I had an X32 Rack at one time I used for small wedding gig and it was problematic. it did some strange stuff and I had to factory reset it every once in a while. I have had a few x32 and m32's and never had any of the problems out of those that I had from the x32 rack.

  • @devjay6949

    What do you recommend to remedy the problem? Thanks by the way.👍🏾

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a problem as such, or something you would go about trying to fix on gear like this. Every piece of audio gear has a unique noise-floor, and modern digital mixers like the X32 and Wing have very low self-noise. In situations where you do find yourself needing even less noise (amongst many other possible reasons) you'd want to step-up to the pro-level consoles, like the Midas Pro 2 or 6 and their accompanying stage-boxes etc. I think Dave Rat has some comparisons between the X32 and the Midas M32 over on his channel, so you can get an idea of what the difference would be like on those.
