So glad to share this with you all and I hope you find some value in what I've put in my kit! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thanks for the tip about Open Sound Meter. I'll be downloading that a little later.

which sdi barrels do you use we bought some in the pass but they weren't the greatest!

@@nathangoh834 There are some Neutrik ones which are sweet but pricey... As long as you double check they are 75 ohms you should be okay.

Would love to hear any more details on the bone conduction headset. I know you mentioned doing a video, but even while you're working on that would love to even know which headset you actually wound up using.

Sorry for the trouble with the Premiere, seems like TH-cam shit the bed on the scheduled time. I'm still watching the comments, and I know Spencer is keeping an eye on them too, so please leave any questions you've got for him here. Thanks again & sorry again for the bogus premiere.

Small note on the tinySA Ultra - natively it's specs are only intended to go up to 1.8GHz, it has an 'ultra' mode with calibration up to 6GHz and observations up to 12GHz (without cal) via bypassing an internal filter, however this mode is known to generate harmonics, so don't drive yourself crazy chasing ghost harmonics that don't exist!

      Thanks for the great info!

    • @spencerhalse

That's right. Didn't want to get too technical here to keep things nice and concise. I like being able to get *some* idea of what's happening up there in the spectrum as I'll occasionally be coordinating wireless video transmitters around the 5GHz zone.
But yes you're absolutely right. In fact you can see those harmonics creeping in on the close up shot of the device scanning up to 6GHz.

Gotta check some prices on some of those tools, the RF explorer alternative, router, and would love to see a little 'how to' on the clearcom headset mod.

Even some artists I work with have toyed with the idea of using mainly wedges but having click and cues in bone conductions. There’s just no quality wired models yet

I recently added a similar laser to my kit. Makes adjusting delay lines a ball. Especially in larger talk/conference events in less than optimal venues in which I have up to three delay lines.

Great video Spencer! I'm up in Sydney and I'd wager our Aliexpress order history looks identical! I also recently built up my own Bone conduction comms kit using a cheapie headhones kit and a lav mic. What model headset did you use for your conversion, I love that it has a proper boom!

i have one of those GL-iNet routers, the beryl, very handy, the ammount of times its saved the day when someone has forgotten to put a router in a work case, and the flex mini, i just brought a three pack, if one ever gets nicked i always keep a spear in the glove box of a vehicle im working from

    • @spencerhalse

They are really nifty! Didn't mention in the video, but those GL-iNet routers are great for hotel wifi too - allowing you to use it as a repeater and connect multiple devices. Million uses for a bit of kit like that.

Fab! Ordered the Bosch laser tape and a version of that multimeter. Now, launch your TH-cam career by doing some onsite AV/event tutorials where you undoubtedly would have great interest in seeing your processes and behind the scenes look at how you implement your kit and event problem solve. Thanks much!

@@spencerhalse I have a Leica Disto but has developed a frustrating "feature" of depleting the batteries while being stored. The Bosch looks good and from what I'm told, is sitting on my doorstep as we correspond. Please consider doing some onsite tutorials. As elementary as it may seem, many would appreciate your knowledge and real world experience. Best!

    • @spencerhalse

It’s a Pelican 1510 with foam dividers. And the lid organizer is the pelican branded one.
I did however upgrade the wheels on the pelican case. DCSoundOp has a great video explaining how to do that if you’re interested.

@spencerhalse Wow great kit! couple questions: what antennas do you use with yout tinySA? Can you share some more details about your bone-conducting headset? I've been looking to build one myself for some time

    • @spencerhalse
      @spencerhalse 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Will make a video going into detail about the headset very soon!
Antenna wise, the quarter wave BNC antennas are the ones that come with RF Venue DFins. Also got a 2.4GHz wifi SMA antenna, and the wideband one that came with the unit. Got a few BNC attenuators to so I can plug into an antenna distro unit if needed.
