Did you use the furnace cement because you didn’t have a gasket between metal surfaces?

@miamigogreg The cement is used for an air tight seal so the smoke doesn't leak into the house.

I understand. Did your stove have a place for a gasket where parts meet, or was it metal against metal with no gasket?

@miamigogreg these antique stoves never came with a gasket. It's metal on metal.
