big reason why i bought the 2024 forester instead of waiting for the refreshed 2025 or buying a 2024 outback it looks cool, but it's slow/laggy and having physical knobs is just so much more convenient
The issue with touch screens is that their flat, monotonous design makes it nearly impossible to develop muscle memory. Additionally, most touch screens are slow to respond. Using them often requires taking your eyes off the road or constantly shifting your focus between the screen and the road, which is a recipe for an accident. Carmakers are choosing to overlook the fact that things can go wrong in the blink of an eye.
100%. People change radio, play with Ac and volume. All the rest of this shit is tech that makes cars cost 35k instead of 23k. They need a ludite version of thier wilderness version for those of us who don't want more crap that breaks.

Subaru people are largely simple no nonsense people who are value and reliability driven, 2 things that more tech on the long run is not. And or older people who have no use for huge tech screens.

I have a 2022 RAV4 and paid extra for the AWD model. Still had some slippage and lost control a few times on mud up in South Dakota this past year. $41K for such a boring basic car. Car prices are ridiculous. It seems manufacturers are determined to suck out the money as much as they can from consumers, since the “chip shortage” era.
They pack in bells and whistles we aren't even asking for. Like is anyone asking for a giant iPad? No. Bring back simple base model with knob controls!
Just buy the base model if you don't want all the upgrades. Simple. Car prices aren't ridiculous, it's just inflation. The dollar isn't worth as much so it seems like they cost more. Wages have stagnated too which makes them harder to obtain for the average person. They have plenty of brand new cars for 25k-35k which is inexpensive by today's standards
Just picked up a brand new 24’ Outback Onyx Edition with the turbo 2.4L. It has all the same tech as the Forester as well as the Jumbotron center display unit, but it’s a MUCH more satisfying driving experience with the turbo four and it’s not as boxy and formulaic. It still looks uniquely like an Outback, until the next generation at least..
@@forkthepork You may not know but that doesn't change anything. Subaru can't even work on them at their own dealerships. CVT's will not be in any brand that does actual work.

@JaggedMercenary If the previous generation was very reliable, how will this be any different? It will have the same reliability!
