Yukon ATR-42 - Dawson to Whitehorse - Takeoff and Landing - Air North

Air North ATR-42 flies from Dawson City, Yukon to Whitehorse, Yukon. Departed at 4:10pm and landed an hour later.
Took off from Dawson's gravel runway
Made the ride from Dawson City to Fairbanks a couple of years ago and that take off was so smooth, beautiful flight!!! I loved it.

I flew on the ATR-42 once with American Eagle back in 1992. I noticed that it was somewhat less noisier than most turboprop airliners. My girlfriend had given it the nickname, "The Whisperprop". It appears to have thicker cabin insulation, which somewhat muffled the low pitched drone that's produced by the props at high RPM.

I just saw your outbound flight to Dawson in the 737-200. That flight also took 1 hour. I expected the ATR to take a bit longer on the same distance, since it is slower. Anyway. I noticed from the ATR's landing in Dawson, that it does not have spoilers, or at least they were not deployed than. Although I expect them, if present, alsways to be deployed. So I guess it does not have them. I have seen ATR 42 and 72 very often. I even worked at a maintenance company that maintained ATR's ! However I was the IT system administrator there. I have also been on board one of these several times for the short 220 km hops from Maastricht (EHBK) to Amsterdam (EHAM), and back. Nice aircrafts.

I've always liked the intimate feel of the turbo prop "puddle jumpers". It's a different experience than say...a 777-300ER.

Those atr aircrafts are dangerous they fall off the sky when little icing occurs

Yes quieter and more powerful. Generally agreed it is better.
