    • @dotcom2471
      @dotcom2471 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're as crazy as Jordan if you think Nico is one of the best drivers on the grid. He'd struggle to make top 5. Maybe even top 10.

    • @arrrgee
      @arrrgee 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe I am, but he's going to win a world championship this year unless something dramatic happens so it's hard to say he's not good when he's won 9 GP's, and I'm not a Nico fan, you just can't dismiss that ability even though he's in the best car you still need to be good to do that.
      Teams nowadays want two hyper competitive drivers in their cars to push each other on, so firing Nico or Lewis for a racing incident like Barcelona is just not going to happen if you want to keep winning championships.
      Look at recent F1 history, Vettel/Webber, Hamilton/Alonso, Massa/Alonso, Ricciardo/Verstappen, Schumacher/Barrichello.
      Teams like having two drivers who are competing more with each other than other drivers on the grid so that they get the best out of them.
      Ricciardo and Verstappen I see as being one for the future, they get on okay at the moment but there is a definite rivalry forming to be number 1 at Red Bull which is why they got rid of Kvyat, they didn't threaten each others position in the team so much.
      And I'd say, in no particular order, the best drivers (based on individual skill and longevity or ability) on the grid today are, Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen and Verstappen. Ricciardo and Rosberg would be just outside that group probably with Button and Massa.

    • @dotcom2471
      @dotcom2471 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not saying he hasn't got skill. He's one of the top drivers in the world. But he hasn't got anywhere near the skill or natural talent of the previous champions, at least since the turn of the century. The closest he'd be is probably to Button, but when the car suits his driving style, Button can turn in results just as well as any one of the champions. He's also the unquestionable king of changeable conditions as he showed in Austria.
      Honestly though, aside from Ham/Alo, and Ric/Ves, none of those pairings are hyper competitive pairings. Barichello and Webber were repeatedly kicked in the nuts by their respective teams as they weren't the "Number 1". Massa is nowhere near Alonso's level, but I agree he is still one of the more underrated drivers along with Button.
      Ricciardo and Verstappen's relationship is a bit like Alonso and McLaren's I think. Outside of the car, they pat each other on the back and are chummy, but in the car, there hasn't been one occasion while Max is behind Daniel where he hasn't complained about Daniel being too slow. Maybe he thinks thats how he'll assert dominance in the team, but externally its just petulant and childish. Getting results over Daniel is how he should assert dominance, then the psychological can start.
      Alonso is still unquestionably the best driver on the grid IMO. He's honestly such a wizard, in that he can just randomly pull out so much more pace from a car during races and do the impossible. Spa and Malaysia and USA are just like "WHAT?". I feel like Carlos Sainz is quietly becoming his spiritual successor, because you look at his drives in Canada this year, or his start in USA last year, and he slices through the field just like Alonso, and is horribly underrated. I can't stand Verstappen fanboys who make it their full time job to bash Sainz every time, out of what it seems like is just insecurity. Those fanboys make it hard to like Verstappen, though I am still a massive fan of his talent.
      Top 6 Best drivers imo (in order):
      Alonso
      Hamilton
      Ricciardo
      Raikkonen
      Vettel (He'd be higher if the state of his team didn't affect his driving so much as in 2014 and this year)
      Verstappen (he'd be higher if he made fewer poor choices and mistakes, but that'll come with experience)
      Button (His quali's hold him down)
      Sainz (Would be higher but for the mistakes caused by his frustration with the poor 2015 unit. His move on Alonso in MEX was way out of line)
      I really want to see Alonso and Hamilton paired again. They have tremendous respect for each other and they consider each other their only real threat to be the best on the grid. To see them slog it out in equal machinery may bring another team to it's knees like it did to McLaren in 2007, but it would be an absolutely spectacular thing to watch. Hamilton and Ricciardo or Verstappen would also be a fascinating pair as those guys are cut from the same cloth. Phenomenal natural racing ability paired with tremendous outright speed.

    • @arrrgee
      @arrrgee 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      An interesting read, all I'll say about rivalry between Vettel and Webber as team mates is 'Multi 21 Seb' !!
      Although Vettel was clearly the better driver they had a fierce rivalry for a couple of years, very similar to Lewis and Nico now.
      Alonso's form this year has been exceptional, he's really been outperforming Button all season and finishing higher than his car deserves, the mark of a true racing genius.
      I'm hoping 2017 will mix it up enough that there are plenty of competitive teams.
      If next year there are three or four teams in close proximity in terms of performance we'll hopefully get to see some very competitive driving, and the resulting driver rivalries and race drama!

    @Eddie Jordan may be annoying and bit closed about Spa 1998, but he does have a comedic talent. What he meant by social media was the focus on this by Hamilton. So actually, the main reason for his loss were not technical problems: It was his own head, while Rosberg had the exact opposite direction to go.

    the only reason why Nico will win this year's WDC is because of bad luck on Lewis' part. It has nothing to do with too much snapchat, partying or holidaying Eddie. Of course, the darker paranoid in me believes that this year's WDC has been a fix.

    • @Zacks1603
      @Zacks1603 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol because Nico is ahead? So Shamilton being ahead is how it should be then?

    • @davepastern
      @davepastern 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      he's only ahead cos of mechanical issues/bad luck on Hamilton's part. If it wasn't for that, he'd have fuck all chance of winning this year (like the last 2 years). Hamilton's had Six engine failures so far, whilst NO OTHER Mercedes driver has had a single engine failure (there's 5 other drivers using Mercedes engines just to clarify). Sounds a wee bit funny doesn't it ;-) yes, I'm suggesting a race fix by Mercedes and FIA,

    • @Zacks1603
      @Zacks1603 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hardly doubt a top team would sabotage their own driver. If this was the case, Nico wouldve won in 2014 and 2015. But, its just bad luck for Lulu. Youre probably a Shamilton fan and cant see that but anyway, Lewis is a smart, yet idiotic cookie and he'd hang up his helmet if that was the case.

    • @tristandoran601
      @tristandoran601 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      mrtheoden So for the record, you are saying that Nico Rosberg doesn't deserve to be Driver's Champion because Lewis has had problems?
      Buddy, the Formula One Driver's Championship has been decided like that on more than one occasion. Let's start with Lewis, he only became champion in 2008 due to Massa's misfortunes in Budapest and Singapore. Then in 2014 Nico had ERS failure which gifted Lewis his 2nd Championship and in 2015 if Nico hadn't got it wrong in Austin Lewis wouldn't have passed and the title fight would have gone on to the next race in Mexico. So you see even Lewis Hamilton has gained success off the misfortune of others.
      Other so-called 'undeserving' Champions - I call them that due to the logic you use and not my own opinions - just to clear up any confusion - Sebastian Vettel 2010 (Ferrari shadowing Mark Webber's strategy and Fernando getting stuck behind Petrov's Renault).
      Jenson Button 2009 (Double Diffuser).
      Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006 ( Kimi's unreliable McLaren & Renault using a Mass Damper System).
      Michael Schumacher 1994 (Lots of speculation on this one. Though basically Schumi was driving a damaged car and Damon should have passed at a more appropiate opportunity).
      Alain Prost 1986 (Mansell's huge tyre blowout in the last race).
      James Hunt 1976 (Niki Lauda's life threatening accident at the German Grand Prix was a major boost for Hunt's championship campaign then in Fuji Lauda retired due to appalling conditions which left James needing 3rd or better to win the Driver's Championship).
      I could go on but surely you get the picture by now.

    • @davepastern
      @davepastern 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      uh huh. Hamilton has had far worse luck this year than any of the other drivers you've mentioned. Most of the press seemed to feel that Nico is only in with a chance of winning this year's WDC because of Hamilton's reliability woes.

And when he should continue driving straight he turns in front of Lewis like what he did in Spain. Britney be like, oops i did it again tried to mess everyone's GP up because I'm a fucking dipstick. That is pretty far from the truth. Mechanical issues happen in racing, that is something that needs to be accepted, Lewis has had opportunities to regain the lead and he hasn't, and his form in the opening races was pretty average. You cannot blame it all on technical difficulties as they are only part of the reason why he is not leading the WC.

      Bryce he did regain the lead. His engine failure at malaysia fucked him over and gave nico a podium. without that hamilton would still be leading the WDC.

      Well you could also argue that his fucked up pole position starts did lose him several points and that he would have the championship without that.
      Bringing it down to a single event mostly doesn't fit the bill. You win championships over the whole year, not in a single race.

    • @patrickpelletier6315
      @patrickpelletier6315 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea Lewis was unlucky, and Nico did what he had to do to make the most out of whichever situation he was in (so did Lewis obviously) and its unfortunate Lewis missed out like that.
      he came so close after all that bad luck. but it happens. and he's been on the lucky side of that kind of season aswell. im glad for Nico however as he achieved his life long goal, sad he retired but i understand it. and earned it aswell no question about it

    • @patrickpelletier6315
      @patrickpelletier6315 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      sultanabran1 Lewis was pretty much given the win at Monaco, but we all know Nico isnt as confident or quick in the rain. If you have the impression im biased towards one or the other then you're wrong. I dont have a preference between the 2. In 2015 the team including Hamilton made a mistake and he pitted when he shouldnt have. Ultimately it was Lewis's decision to pit and he said he did because he saw what he thought was Nico pitting when it turned out to be a replay.
