    Thanks, Buck! My sister-in-law's 2012 GMC Canyon was doing this. Sometimes it started just fine; sometimes nothing. She had been trying to use the reset procedure in the owner's manual with little success. We gave this a try and it worked first thing. Much appreciated!

    NICE. This happens to me about once a month. Doesn't matter if I use the fob or not, or even if I lock it or not. Stopped for gas this morning and it wouldn't start. While I was waiting the 20 minutes I found your video on my phone. Tried it immediately and it worked. Love my 2007 Colorado (119K miles) and have no problems except for this one freakin' annoying problem. ...until today. Thanks Buck.

    • @randomperson623
      @randomperson623 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It probably worked because you waited. Mine did this twice today and I've had to deal with this for two years. It turns over but doesn't start. If this happens I look at the flashing red lock on the dash for exactly 10 minutes with the key in the on position. After 10 mins the lock goes solid red for around 10 seconds. after the light goes away turn it off then try starting it. Ps if this doesn't work you have to start over. If it's cold ,raining or at night it likes to do this. I will try the method in this video hopefully it works

      It didn't work for me. My problem is slightly different. It turns over and doesn't start and a red light flashes for 10 minutes then stays solid red for 10 secs then I turn to off and restart. If it doesn't start I repeat the process. Ps if you unplug your battery the 10 minutes starts over lmfao

    I've had this happen three times on my 04 GMC Canyon in the last year and a half, no rhyme or reason as to why it does it. First two times, the 10 minute trick worked fine, the last time it wouldn't start, I tried the ten minute trick twice without prevail. So searched it on the ole TH-cam and found this video, worked like a charm, thank you!

      @@opera93 knock on wood, it hasn't happened in the last 2 years or so. But these trucks are notorious for electrical issues, only my driver's power door lock works with the remote or button on the door. The other 3 have to be unlocked manually. The dash lights flicker intermittently all the time, or just go completely off. The other issues I'm having is the evap code and misfire code on cylinder 2. Which I had the head redone at a machine shop on this motor and the last motor. GM should have had to replace the heads on these no mater the age or milage. And several people should have lost their jobs because of these trucks

    2006 I-280 Isuzu Truck. That Passlock was intermittent driving my son crazy. Would not work with the 10 minute wait. I was going to try the ole blue-white wire cut but came across ole Buck. Tried this trick from Buck Wilkins and it worked first time. You do not need the chimes to work. My chimes are gone due to after-market radio install (that is another story). Turned ignition to ON and dash lit up as normal. After about 5 seconds, some of the lights went out. I waited another five seconds and tried to start the truck.....Bingo! I think ole Buck came through for a lot of folks. Thanks Buck!

    I have now written down this procedure on a 3x5 card to go in my glove compartment in case it happens again.
    I used this simple procedure over 1 yr ago when it happened first time on my 2005 Chevy Colorado. I think it happened again 1 or 2 times during the next few weeks too. Then I didn't have any problems at all for over 1 yr until last Saturday. I knew what was happening but could not remember the procedure so I called AAA for a tow home. 20 min later, while waiting for the tow truck I tried again and it started - sheesh! Cancelled the tow and drove home.
    WRITE THIS DOWN and put it in your glove box even if you're not having a problem. If your passlock system fails, it's going to happen when you least expect it. On one side of the 3x5 card I wrote "Suddenly won't crank -or- cranks but won't start". It's happened both ways to me. On the other side I wrote
    ----------
    With door open and key removed:
    - Insert key
    - Count 6 quick dings
    - Immediately turn key to "On"
    - Count 5 slow dings & watch for dash light test to finish
    some dash lights go off
    - Immediately turn key to "Start"
    * Should start right up
    ----------

    This video worked on my 09 Colorado at the gas station last week and got me home. Also Happened to me 4 years ago at home. Both times, put wd40 on my key several times and ran it in and out of keyhole several times. Lot of black stuff came out. Clean key. Stop applying wd40 after several efforts, just insert and clean routine. Repeat several times until black stuff quit coming out. No problems in a week. As U said 4 years without a problem, first time I had no start, no crank.

    OMG, Merry Christmas SIR!!
    Your solution worked on the 2008 Isuzu. Matter of fact, I toggled the remote a few times, locking and unlocking. It gave the telltale beep or double beep, but it never actually actuated the lock. Heck, I don’t even care about the remote locking. Your solution worked. I can now drive this truck! Thank you for caring enough to post.

      Thanks, how is your **Colorado, crank/nonstart doing now?… Interestingly, my 2007:CANYON //no remote;/no power lock or window : has been doing this ***rarely for several year’s ( maybe few more last couple years) :: no,SHOP SIGns , Or repeatable …. Thouhg finally figured out Ten Minutes ++ wait *& starts .. ALSO, ***Interestingly, my Canyon been shutting off fan speed 3 & 4 randomly:: SECKND TIME IN SHOP,: diagnosed to:” replace Fan”, I finally replaced FAN RESISTOR a few weeks ago, waiting on Fan motor Replacements………primarily, due to $800..00 charge for new Alternator, & Interstate Battery *& multiple Diagnostics( old INTERSTATE one.a year old ONLY)……….frustrating.

    This didn't work for my '04 Colorado.
    This issue crops up when it's cool and damp out.
    I wonder if the issue stems from the aftermarket chimes module/harness that was installed when I had the aftermarket radio put in. But that was 9 years ago. Hmmmm....
    Do those module/harness combos wear out?
    I guess I just have to wait the 10 minutes.

    We do not have an original key to the truck any longer. It starts most of the time but occasionally does what everyone else's does. How come it turns on at all with the plain key?

    thumbs up for posting. was looking at a low mile 2007 Z71 Colorado but thinking that I will pass on it. was going to get it for deep off road four wheeling but don't trust this vehicle now and don't want to be left stranded

    2005 Colorado with same problem, many times I got the no start, I finally got mad and just stopped using the remote and resorted to using the key to lock/unlock it, it was a pain at first to use the key every time but I eventually got used to it and its no big deal now, and I realize that my alarm is not activated when I don't use the remote but at least it starts now every time and has been fine for 7 years now, I did forget once and used my remote to lock it and sure enough I got the no start again, so I removed the remote from my key chain

    6-19-24 my chime feature doesn't work, so I'm going to try using this method by counting (first set of dings) then turning ignition on and waiting for the lights to go out (second set of dings)🤞. Passlock hit me twice this morning, leaving for work, then at the gas station. Thanx in advance for the video/info, excellent job sir...👍👍
