Remember watching Alan back in the 2019 Motion+ days, I still remember how good that EQ sounded before I forgot my motion+ in a park one night. I currently ordered 2 regular jbl encores the non essential ones want to see how they perform in TWS not many reviewers that tested it in TWS, JBL and a lot of reviewers advertise the battery to last 5-10 hours. but Im currently reading that for some it lasts only 3 hours at 50% battery that is disgracefull if you are coming off a motion +, motion boom and a lot of other speakers, if it is actually that bad ill have to return them and go for 2 StormBox Blasts and apply a Alan Ross EQ to it as a finisher haha keep up the quality videos. you have to be the best bluetooth speaker challenge out there in my opinion.
ignore the marketing bullshit, just look a the battery size in watt hours to know battery life. the encore has a small battery and the essential even smaller.
Btw, i noticed something new on the jbl app lately. The eq is looking different than before, still 3 band but between the bands theres a dead line . I think it might be a sign of 2 additional bands that jbl are working on. A band between the bass and mids, and between mids and highs. Potential 5 band eq is maybe in the future. I know it has nothing to do with this video, but still xD
The determining factor for me when I purchase both of these speakers was that the anchor product does not sound good at all in warm climate. I had experienced on several occasions where I was using my motion boom outside and when the passive radiators get hot in direct sunlight the bass makes them flop around as if they're broken. They make a bottoming out sound effect that sounds horrible. The passive radiators on the tri-bit are definitely more well-built and definitely sound more defined when it comes to bass. I live in California so our summers get pretty warm and that was why I chose the tribit because I did not like that sound when this motion Bloom is used in hot weather.
Because of weight I decided to go with The Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. I needed a speaker I can lug everywhere. Too much lugging is required with the Tribit StormBox Blast. Call me cray 😜
Totally understandable, the tribit is huge and honestly hurts my shoulder a bit to move around! I use it as a home speaker for the most part so I'm not carrying it much, but if I was out and about with it I would opt for MB+ because of weight and dust resistance
Motion Boom Plus serves me well since I always walk with my Dog and MB+ is much lighter in weight. And I am more on Quality than Loudness. But if your purpose is mostly for Outdoor and Loudness go for Tribit.

So, Alan. Ages ago I bought a pair of Denon 250bt's, you were partly responsible for that. You made me aware of the battery drop off over time but it didn't put me off. Well, it's been about oh, 2 years nearly now, year and a half at least, and I'm finally coming to turn on dead speakers. I have to say, I have used them so regularly in different parts of the house that the battery issue really wasn't an issue. But again tonight, I've come upstairs after a sauna to have some music in the shower... And I can't! 😩 I think that for some time now I've been so bloody tired that I just want to get done what I need to and collapse on the sofa, or in bed, I just haven't been using them much at all! I also used to have loads of micro USB cables knocking about and now don't seem to have any upstairs anywhere... It's all USBC and iPhone cables up here!
Just got the Soundcore Rave Party 2 (120W). (seems like a cross between the Partycast (80W) and the Rave+ (160W). It looks a lot like the Partycast, but is a bit larger and definitely a bit heavier. It's way more portable than the Rave+, however, with noticeably more umph than the Partcast. I'm liking it a lot. Have you seen/heard this speaker yet? I finally got a tribit stormbox blast and I have to say I'm full happy with it. I do find myself going back to the classical eq preset. I've used yours and made my own and I still usually find the classical preset most pleasant. Usually around 60% to 80%volume. Have you given this preset a serious listen?

Another wonderful detailed review i've been hoping to see, both are good with different tunings for different occasions/scenarios, while boom plus is good at outdoor, parties...the blast is good for indoors, little verandahs...you can't go wrong with both depending on what you want, I'd go for the blast(s) since i'm all about that deep, warm full bass, unfortunately the logistics of the blast is way high to ship to my area, almost same cost as the speaker itself
Brother Alan, I hope all is well. It seems you are on a little hiatus after the flurry of vids after the Motion Boom Plus and Tribit Storm Blast vids. I just realized two new speakers from Soundcore...Rave Neo 2 and Rave Party 2. Two interesting additions that we would like to hear your take on them. I am interested in the Party 2 but not sure if it had enough DEEP BASS. I have two MB+ but I'm gonna give one to my in-laws. Wondering if the Party 2 is good enough to be my go to speaker. Hopefully Soundcore will send you both new speakers.
Hope you're well Alan. After almost 5 months of playing the Blast and Motion Boom Plus every day, across many genres of music, I'm always drawn to the Boom Plus. Its sound is more detailed and layered. Instruments and their depth, textures and nuances come through on the Plus but are absent on the Blast. The Plus is just a much more pleasing listen. And in spite of having a smidgen less lower bass than the Blast, the Plus certainly has quite enough to fully satisfy and is overall much more immersive.
I will disagree as well. I bought a motion boom plus, ran the updates, tweaked the EQ to multiple settings and played multiple formats with multiple file types at multiple bitrates with multiple genres of music. The music may have been more detailed at times, but the Boom Plus could not keep up without distorting at higher volumes. The Soundstage is great if you're facing it, but the sound does not fill a room like the Blast does.
It's touch and go whether I buy a second, primarily for the TWS mode: I'd have been easier convinced if I hadn't already paid £200 for the first unit! (..which incidentally was already £20 cheaper than the nominal UK launch price)
Just correct me if im wrong. Motion Boom Plus has more Quality but Tribet is Good for Outdoors and is more louder. So if your looking for Base and Outdoor Sound go for Tribit. But if your looking for Quality for Indoor but also not bad for outdoor then go with Motion Boom Plus. But I go with Motion Boom Plus because it's purpose serves me well. I go outside and walk my Dog and Motion Boom Plus is not that Heavy and has an Arm Sling while Tribit is kinda heavy without sling. And not only that, with Motion Boom Plus I can place it inside the Ubox of My Scooter because it's much smaller than Tribet. So it really depends on your purpose.

Hey Alan, thx for your recommendations, had an Soundcore 2 for ~5 years,which now looks pretty battered and unfortunately buzzes because the magnet in the middle has come loose. Anyway, i´ve bought a Soundcore Boost and it´s amazing for my purposes and a nice upgrade. Basically paid the same for the Boost as for the SC2 back then because it went on Sale tho. Hey Alan, I had a wild idea for you. Why don't you test out older Bose Acoustic Waveguides (small one and big one) against these Bluetooth speakers? The big one has a good sized woofer in a waveguide system. I think it would be worthwhile. Thanks bud! Good work 👍.
nice, was waiting for this, and ngl i though i was gonna hear 2xTSB w'da been softer then 2xmb+, but with more bass kinda like a effect you get from the boombox when it looses in loudness, turns out it was the opposite, still fine though i think 2 of these win against the bbx3 already execept mb on really deeper bass( around the 50hz mark).
they win everywhere except below 50hz, that is where the boombox 3 and 2 have their strength. but the amount of bass will go a long way to make up for that, you just dont get the low end rumble the bb3 can give.
What ver firmware are you using in motion boom plus, I have .39. But I liked .36 better clarity, I have both pairs as well, the stormbox blast, and motion boom plus , I prefer the motion boom plus in stereo mode over the stormbox blast

I got the blast for 120usd now it's gone up to 135. I'm planning to get another one. I don't use the app straight out of the box it is fine for me. I'm not an audiophile but would you recommend 2 extreme 3s from jbl or 2 blasts? I'm eyeing a bit the extreme lately but it seems jbls are not good without the app. I'm just a simple raw guy. Extreme 3 is 175 here currently by the way. Just 40 more from blast.
Just a noob question. My 2nd blast just arrived. My first 1 is still v2. 2 firmware which I never updated. The new one came with v3. 1 And my golly the difference is galaxies apart. The v2. 2 is a lot better. The new one just arrived with new firmware. Should I update the other one to newest version to just get mushy sound on both? Or keep one prestine and banging?

Making measurements is a long time learned skill that gets adapted to your own needs and setup, there is no way i can explain it in a single video. Outside of that i think i do explain what portion is bass, Treble and mids.

well i could but i would just get bogged down in stuff that doesnt matter at the end of the day as these are all-in-one speakers and thus how it sounds is all that matters. with separates you have a lot of gear matching to do so those specs matter more.

Bought a second Stormbox Blast during the cyber monday sales and 2 Rave Neo 2s as well as a motion boom plus during black friday sales. For some reason I can't pair the Neo 2s via TWS. However, party mode takes literally 2 or 3 seconds to link they sound pretty decent when they're paired with the boom plus through party mode. I'm interested to hear how 2 neo 2s compare against 2 blasts, but if the 2 Stormbox blasts sound as good as I think they will then I think I am going to send the soundcore speakers back :p Can't wait for another classic Alan Ross review that hour long video you posted was really really really really good :)
@alanrossreviews for the life of me I can't get these neo 2s to pair via TWS and I'm following the instructions from the soundcore site. It says hold the bluetooth button om both speakers for 2 to 3 seconds until they flash white, but that's not happening no matter how long I hold the buttons for they only pair together through partycast. If I can't get these Neos to pair via TWS and only through partycast then 100% I'm sending them back for sure.
@alanrossreviews Daaaaaaayum two Stormbox Blasts paired together sound absolutely incredible. I think I gotta send the soundcore speakers back now, lol... I'm set with 2 Motion Booms, 2 Stormbox Blasts and a partridge in a pear tree 🌳 but if I do get a speaker in the near future it will probably be the W-King T11 Edit: It's due to them being Rave Neo 2 SE models for some reason they don't support true wireless stereo and the firmware is up to date on both Rave Neo 2s. No where in the manual does it show you how to pair them via TWS only party cast, which sucks but oh well, c'est la vie :p on the bright side these Stormbox Blasts sound incredible and I'm thrilled that I bought a second Blast.

Not sure if any of you have a "Razer Phone 2" but the Dolby Atmos app on that phone is far better than any eqing app provided by tribit or anker. I literally still use my razor phone only to stream music to my Bluetooth devices because the Dolby Atmos EQ is better than any EQ I've ever used on a phone. This is coming from a person that owns a s22 and a s21 ultra. The Dolby Atmos EQ in the Razer Phone 2 is King.
well this was the only time soundcore had contact with me. one time to send me the boom plus and then second time to send me one with fixed passive rads. even the headphones every channel seems to be getting offered never came my way 😝

how to make a party of out of the 4 of them. Have at least a smartphone with dual audio or dual bluetooth and set the TWS function on each speaker to the same speaker brand.
I have to say in default EQ the Tribit sounds a bit grainy while the rendition of the mids & highs are much clearer on the Boom Plus. I wonder how would they compare when on custom EQ?
Personally, I disagree with Alan on how stock tuning sounds on the Blast, the highs are too boosted to my liking. If you add the 5.5 khz dip to boosted treble, you're in for a weird sounding speaker. Taming the highs down makes the dip way less noticeable and the speaker become more enjoyable 👍
I had the motion boom plus but returned it for the tribit... they both sound pretty good but I wanted more bass so opted to keep the tribit instead. Only thing with the tribit is that it's like 6-7 pounds heavier than the motion boom plus otherwise it is great!
So apparently LG just released some new speakers, the biggest one of the lineup is XG9 which apparently has 2 woofers and a horn tweeter, LG claims it packs 80watts. I’m really curious to see how it sounds like.. even though their past speakers were utter shit
Unfortunately the Blast isn't available in Canada right now and it never dropped below about $250 cdn either. Amazon in the US looks to have them but at $179.95USD plus almost $50 shipping I'd be over $300 canadian. Too much. Tribit has been a little weird with the pricing lately. I have a hard time with the looks of the blast as well...can't get past those ugly racing stripes lol.

there is no best speaker. there is a speaker for each scenario and taste. indoors i listen to several speakers depending on what kind of sound i am in the mood for. best value is the blast. but i love lots of speakers even the seldom talked of Marshall stockwell 2.

i use my own neutral setting with an upper bass push mostly. on a quick listen didnt like the presets.

Another wonderful detailed review i've been hoping to see, both are good with different tunings for different occasions/scenarios, while boom plus is good at outdoor, parties...the blast is good for indoors, little verandahs...you can't go wrong with both depending on what you want, I'd go for the blast(s) since i'm all about that deep, warm full bass, unfortunately the logistics of the blast is way high to ship to my area, almost same cost as the speaker itself

Hope you're well Alan. After almost 5 months of playing the Blast and Motion Boom Plus every day, across many genres of music, I'm always drawn to the Boom Plus. Its sound is more detailed and layered. Instruments and their depth, textures and nuances come through on the Plus but are absent on the Blast. The Plus is just a much more pleasing listen. And in spite of having a smidgen less lower bass than the Blast, the Plus certainly has quite enough to fully satisfy and is overall much more immersive.

I will disagree as well. I bought a motion boom plus, ran the updates, tweaked the EQ to multiple settings and played multiple formats with multiple file types at multiple bitrates with multiple genres of music. The music may have been more detailed at times, but the Boom Plus could not keep up without distorting at higher volumes. The Soundstage is great if you're facing it, but the sound does not fill a room like the Blast does.

Just correct me if im wrong. Motion Boom Plus has more Quality but Tribet is Good for Outdoors and is more louder. So if your looking for Base and Outdoor Sound go for Tribit. But if your looking for Quality for Indoor but also not bad for outdoor then go with Motion Boom Plus. But I go with Motion Boom Plus because it's purpose serves me well. I go outside and walk my Dog and Motion Boom Plus is not that Heavy and has an Arm Sling while Tribit is kinda heavy without sling. And not only that, with Motion Boom Plus I can place it inside the Ubox of My Scooter because it's much smaller than Tribet. So it really depends on your purpose.

Hey Alan, thx for your recommendations, had an Soundcore 2 for ~5 years,which now looks pretty battered and unfortunately buzzes because the magnet in the middle has come loose.
Anyway, i´ve bought a Soundcore Boost and it´s amazing for my purposes and a nice upgrade.
Basically paid the same for the Boost as for the SC2 back then because it went on Sale tho.

nice, was waiting for this, and ngl i though i was gonna hear 2xTSB w'da been softer then 2xmb+, but with more bass kinda like a effect you get from the boombox when it looses in loudness, turns out it was the opposite, still fine though i think 2 of these win against the bbx3 already execept mb on really deeper bass( around the 50hz mark).
they win everywhere except below 50hz, that is where the boombox 3 and 2 have their strength. but the amount of bass will go a long way to make up for that, you just dont get the low end rumble the bb3 can give.

What ver firmware are you using in motion boom plus, I have .39. But I liked .36 better clarity, I have both pairs as well, the stormbox blast, and motion boom plus , I prefer the motion boom plus in stereo mode over the stormbox blast

I got the blast for 120usd now it's gone up to 135. I'm planning to get another one. I don't use the app straight out of the box it is fine for me. I'm not an audiophile but would you recommend 2 extreme 3s from jbl or 2 blasts? I'm eyeing a bit the extreme lately but it seems jbls are not good without the app. I'm just a simple raw guy. Extreme 3 is 175 here currently by the way. Just 40 more from blast.

Just a noob question. My 2nd blast just arrived. My first 1 is still v2. 2 firmware which I never updated. The new one came with v3. 1
And my golly the difference is galaxies apart. The v2. 2 is a lot better. The new one just arrived with new firmware. Should I update the other one to newest version to just get mushy sound on both? Or keep one prestine and banging?

Making measurements is a long time learned skill that gets adapted to your own needs and setup, there is no way i can explain it in a single video. Outside of that i think i do explain what portion is bass, Treble and mids.

well i could but i would just get bogged down in stuff that doesnt matter at the end of the day as these are all-in-one speakers and thus how it sounds is all that matters. with separates you have a lot of gear matching to do so those specs matter more.

Bought a second Stormbox Blast during the cyber monday sales and 2 Rave Neo 2s as well as a motion boom plus during black friday sales. For some reason I can't pair the Neo 2s via TWS. However, party mode takes literally 2 or 3 seconds to link they sound pretty decent when they're paired with the boom plus through party mode. I'm interested to hear how 2 neo 2s compare against 2 blasts, but if the 2 Stormbox blasts sound as good as I think they will then I think I am going to send the soundcore speakers back :p Can't wait for another classic Alan Ross review that hour long video you posted was really really really really good :)
if doing tws dont have partycast enabled. they have quite a different sound, my preference is the blast which is really really really good 😝
@alanrossreviews for the life of me I can't get these neo 2s to pair via TWS and I'm following the instructions from the soundcore site. It says hold the bluetooth button om both speakers for 2 to 3 seconds until they flash white, but that's not happening no matter how long I hold the buttons for they only pair together through partycast. If I can't get these Neos to pair via TWS and only through partycast then 100% I'm sending them back for sure.

I'm set with 2 Motion Booms, 2 Stormbox Blasts and a partridge in a pear tree 🌳 but if I do get a speaker in the near future it will probably be the W-King T11 Edit: It's due to them being Rave Neo 2 SE models for some reason they don't support true wireless stereo and the firmware is up to date on both Rave Neo 2s. No where in the manual does it show you how to pair them via TWS only party cast, which sucks but oh well, c'est la vie :p on the bright side these Stormbox Blasts sound incredible and I'm thrilled that I bought a second Blast.

Not sure if any of you have a "Razer Phone 2" but the Dolby Atmos app on that phone is far better than any eqing app provided by tribit or anker. I literally still use my razor phone only to stream music to my Bluetooth devices because the Dolby Atmos EQ is better than any EQ I've ever used on a phone. This is coming from a person that owns a s22 and a s21 ultra. The Dolby Atmos EQ in the Razer Phone 2 is King.

I have to say in default EQ the Tribit sounds a bit grainy while the rendition of the mids & highs are much clearer on the Boom Plus. I wonder how would they compare when on custom EQ?
Personally, I disagree with Alan on how stock tuning sounds on the Blast, the highs are too boosted to my liking.
If you add the 5.5 khz dip to boosted treble, you're in for a weird sounding speaker.
Taming the highs down makes the dip way less noticeable and the speaker become more enjoyable 👍

I had the motion boom plus but returned it for the tribit... they both sound pretty good but I wanted more bass so opted to keep the tribit instead. Only thing with the tribit is that it's like 6-7 pounds heavier than the motion boom plus otherwise it is great!

So apparently LG just released some new speakers, the biggest one of the lineup is XG9 which apparently has 2 woofers and a horn tweeter, LG claims it packs 80watts. I’m really curious to see how it sounds like.. even though their past speakers were utter shit

Unfortunately the Blast isn't available in Canada right now and it never dropped below about $250 cdn either. Amazon in the US looks to have them but at $179.95USD plus almost $50 shipping I'd be over $300 canadian. Too much. Tribit has been a little weird with the pricing lately. I have a hard time with the looks of the blast as well...can't get past those ugly racing stripes lol.

the charge 5 is a great speaker. for more refinement go marshall stockwell 2. the bose flex is not far off in a small package.
why do you think Soundcore didn't include a larger battery? It's not like it would have cost all that much more, and it's what's holding the MB+ back a little IMO>

there is no best speaker. there is a speaker for each scenario and taste. indoors i listen to several speakers depending on what kind of sound i am in the mood for. best value is the blast. but i love lots of speakers even the seldom talked of Marshall stockwell 2.
