He's got the most fluid technique I've ever seen, I swear no one moves like him, not even the GOATs, I could watch him play without sound for hours, that moeller technique on the left hand is so graceful it's insane, he's even opening his hand before he strikes when he hits from high up, that's how relaxed his hand is
One thing I definitely do admire about Troy's playing is that despite being obviously very technically advanced, his chops are very tasteful. Never feels like overplaying, regardless of the type of song. Just pay attention to the very little and subtle things he adds over this cover playthrough.
+Titouan Pierce You know you're good when you can just casually throw a polyrhythm on top of a Matt Garstka track because you weren't quite having enough fun
I saw this guy yesterday at Sub89 in Reading, UK playing with Plini and some of the other guys from INTERVALS, he gave me his broken stick at the end of his set, met him after the show, not only is he the best drummer I'll ever see live but one of the most humble and down to earth people I've ever met. One of the best nights of my life
I've watched this so many times.. so. many. times.. I'll probably watch it a bunch more. On top of ridiculous technical ability, amazing feel, and every other thing. He hits his drums like they owe him money. Everything is so amazingly deliberate.
Man, couldn't agree more! and I actually LOLed on the part about the money hahahaha I dunno how many times I rewatched this masterpiece during these 6 six, and dunno how more times I will, just like you said
That little warmup fill at 3:17. Dude, I rewatched it 10 times. So. Effing. Good. Shoutout to the 31 people that don’t appreciate how incredible of a drummer you are. You people new here orrrrr?
Man from 0:50 to 1:00 i litterally got goosebumps. Insane drumming skills, i don't even know how achieving such perfect control is even possible. Great job.
Hey Troy I've been watching your videos for a while now maybe about 3 years and I just wanted to say you're a huge inspiration to me you've shown me that you can accomplish so much more with such a simple set up and you're video lessons really help a lot, since I can't really read music that well you make it easier to understand. Thanks Troy!
loved the freestyle at the end. need more of that in everyone's drum videos, it's really nice to see what flows out of people organically without being bound by the song! really awesome!
Way more natural and loose when compared to other covers around, it even has some details in playing that make it tastier than the albums version lol Awesome!!
Him, his drumset, a stage and this song looped from 3:54 to 4:54... set it up and I will seriously buy tickets to watch this guy just play until he runs outta gas. SUPER deep pocket on this groove man. Exceptional playing.
Can't get enough of this song. Your cover is so fkin tasty, I'm drooling. Drummers like you give me the motivation to keep going and I keep getting better. Thanks a lot!
Wow, That snare sound is incredible! I also love your playing and how you added your own creative input, rather than playing it note for note. Everything is top notch. I wish I lived in AU so I could study with you.
Biggest compliment to all weather channels around the world. Although, I don't hear any similarities. Maybe that's because I've not seen any weather channel in about a decade :D
the most beautifully intricate weather you can imagine. very similar to lightning during a blizzard, but the lightning is constant and it crawls over every inch of visible sky and the snow is falling at a gorgeously hypnotic rate
Every time I leave a comment on any cover I always lead with this, "The reason I don't comment much on covers is because I am so so fussy? And I always end up finding some thing I didn't like personally, or some thing like a split second out of time..." man this was perfect I loved it well done! AMAZING timing, and awesome sound first....show boating second, seriously loved this video! thank you! Subscribed!
Hi Troy, big fan over the years. Ever thought of a video outlining your approach to hand technique? Yours is immaculate - Very loose yet controlled and powerful. I'd be very interested to know what to work on to get it to this level. Thanks,

Very well said

it's funny because I watched Matt Gartska's playthrough and it sounded like he was overplaying to me while Troy's just sounds really good.
As if playing AAL wasn't hard enough, you add a polyrhythmic beat on top. That right there, is talent.
+Titouan Pierce
Guy is insane.
+Titouan Pierce he actually has a video of him doing a polyrhythmic groove on top of this groove. you should check it out. it's mind blowing.
+Titouan Pierce You know you're good when you can just casually throw a polyrhythm on top of a Matt Garstka track because you weren't quite having enough fun
hahahahaha....thats funy!
He worked really hard on getting a whole range of polyrhythms over a loop of this track, it's a great video to watch if you haven't already! :)

You captured the groove of the song perfectly. Such a smooth, well played, mixed, and edited cover - great work Troy!

Biggest compliment to all weather channels around the world. Although, I don't hear any similarities. Maybe that's because I've not seen any weather channel in about a decade :D
