I Just made this Recipe because it's simple sugar and flour mixture. I looked at many other recipes and I chose this one. I am a purest when it comes to pies:) The taste is perfect, just like my grandmother use to make. I baked it about 45 minutes used foil to keep from burning the crust and let set about 2 hours. It set up nicely. I do remember this pie filling never being firm it was always a little more liquid. Wife say's it is excellent and wonders were i got the recipe :) I told her my grandmothers :)
I always add either 1) 3T tapioca or 2) 1/4 cup uncooked rice cereal to thicken every fruit pie I make. It absorbs all the liquid and doesn't change the taste. No more runny pies in my house. Some people also like to cook the fruit first so some of the water evaporates, but I would still put a T or 2 of tapioca in the pan.
Thank you for your question. You can make this with all strawberries. We'd recommend cutting down on sugar though, since strawberries are sweet and you won't get tartness from the rhubarb. Enjoy!
ok, here's what you do: put your bottom crust in the pan, cover it with foil and add beans or something, and bake it for around 10 minutes, then follow the recipe as instructed; this makes the bottom a bit more crisp :) If the top starts getting to dark, just cover it with foil and throw it back in the oven
Thank you for your question, Kinsey. The eggs adds shine to the crust and helps sugar to stick. If you wish not to use the egg, the pie will still come out well, no worries!
wow this looks so goooooooooood!! it's just a bummer we don't have rhubarb in our country.. well someone commented if we can use apple.. so i'm excited to make this with apple instead.. i wish it'll taste just as how good it looks ^.^
Cranberries is *MUCH* closer as far as taste goes. Apples are just that, apples, & it is a distinctively *APPLE* flavor. Even a Granny Smith is nowhere tart enough.
use the egg mixture and brush it on the bottom of your bottom pie crust. add tablespoon of cornstarch along with your flour and dot with at least 2 tablespoons of butter.
The instrument carrying the melody is a banjo, and some other instruments come to a company throughout. I hear you saying you were distracted by the notes, but it wasn't the notes that are off?? 😎😂
I’ve never had this before but from what I have just read about rhubarb it is very bitter but you can sweeten it with sugar to curb the bitterness. I read that unless it’s been sweetened it really doesn’t have a flavor apart from the bitterness. To me, it just seems like you’d do better omitting the rhubarb altogether and make a strawberry pie, especially since the rhubarb isn’t bringing any real flavor to the pie. That’s my opinion before eating it. I may taste it one day and love it. Who knows.
This is wrong. Rhubarb isn't bitzer- it's tardy. It has that sour flesh which can be balanced out with sugar! And rhubarb itself already has a taste- it smells really good.
I was all ready to make this pie and you went by pound I don't have a scale I need cups you should have put that in there too I had to go to another recipe. But yours look good
Humm, I dont know what I did wrong. The edge of the crust got really brown and almost burnt and the crust was still soft after 30 min. The juice didn't really thicken up and the juice made it even softer. BUT, it was very tasty. I will definitely try this again...
i baked this today with a lattice top and when i cut into the pie it was very wet on the inside :( the pie looked perfect but the filling was sooooo wet. anyone know what i did wrong?
Thank you for your question. We're sorry to hear the pie filling didn't set up. Did you let it cool completely? Once cooled, it's likely that the filling will set up. Let us know! :)
Maybe you used unfrozen and frozen fruit? I used frozen rhubarb and fresh strawberries before and it was good but the frozen rhubarb made the pie keep filling up. The second I tried with fresh fruit and vegetable was perfect

Use corn starch to help the funniness be more gooey:)
I have already cooked many time by this recipe. Too tasty. It's already rhubarb time. 💕💕

This is the best recipe I've seen
Yes this recipe works great for either fresh or frozen!
Certainly! Let us know how it turns out for you :)
Gonna make this tomorrow but will have it with hot custard!
That's a great idea to use an apple here. We'd recommend a sour tasting apple, like Granny Smith. Enjoy!
Awesome! Making this today on my smoker 💥👊🏼🔥
Rhubarb is actually a vegetable, but it can be used as a fruit in desserts and jams. You only eat the stalks, which have a tart flavor.

Wow. I guess I'm making that for Mother's Day.

One of the dumbest comments ever written.
What's the temperature setting of the oven?
คลิปดีมากๆเลยครับ
What temperature for baking ?
Looks really good, but I do not like rhubarb can I do all strawberries instead?
definitely not , you would be violating the essentials of traditional cooking and the fine is more than 100 $
I'm looking for a recipe for chicken fricose..can you help me.
Can apple be replaced by the rhubarb
What should I put on the bottom of the pan?pam, Crisco or nothing

I've always been told that the egg white is the wash..

Doug Doug Use aluminum foil around the edges, that’s what my grandma taught me for edges of pies. 🤗

Hey, can you make egg tart recipe? XD
I put heavy whipping cream on the top of the pie not egg.
cover the edges of your crust with strips of aluminum foil, or I use a purchased pie crust edger cover-er. lol
Can I do this without the egg on top?
no , it is against the law to do so in most western countries : )
@@Ferda1964 😂🤣
Why is there no recipe for the crust in this video?
Chuck
😅
With homemade ice ceam
What is rhubarb? Is that pink radish? I never ever seen rhubarb and don't know what its called in my country -_-
Rhubarb looks very much like celery except it has the pinkish red color to it it's poisonous if you eat the leaves you only want to eat the stocks
Made this and all I got was soup with a crust on top.
Really? So it didnt work at all
Everything looks great, only one hiccup. Just use rhubarb, NO strawberries
Then it’s not a strawberry rhubarb pie, is it?!
No.
Love ❤ me ❤
The rubbar is so nasty
