If someone has symptoms in one or both legs - numbness and loosing function (I. E. Being unable to lift the leg(s) or 'right' the feet for walking where should we be looking? This can happen while laying down (either side or both) or while sitting. Position must be changed and they must wait for feeling to return before walking. They are unable to provide a description of a specific position that causes this to happen. It happens daily/ nightly.

I would always encourage a thorough history and physical exam with your treating provider to decide next steps.

I had a typical l4/l5 herniated bulge where pain goes 4/5 days later but what was different is i tried decompressing lower back with a roller. Stood up wow no l4/l5 pain next minute a huge jolt down that (peroneal) nerve. Numb lower outside leg down to the right (big toe + next 2 toes) foot.
2 years later no pain big toe still slightly numb, but the crazy thing is no more l4/l5 pain. Im not sure if im better or worse off

Hi im from Philippines... What is distal mononeuropathies . Involving the medieal plantar nerve and deep peroneal nerve. Is this a surgical problem? Or a permanent nerve damage?😢

Peripheral neuropathies are less likely to require surgical intervention. I would recommend consultation with your treating provider for a more accurate diagnosis and prognosis.

Thought the L4 nerve root exits btwn the L4 and L5 disc, not the L5.

Yes, this can be a little misleading. The L5 nerve exits the thecal sac at the L4 level and out of the foramen at L5-S1.

I developed foot drop immediately after Anterior L5-S1 lumbar decompression. The nerve pain is below the knee to the toes, and in the buttocks. Where in the buttocks is the pain usually found after L5 nerve injury?

The L5 dermatomal patter traverses from the lower lumbar spine across the top of the glut area and down the lateral aspect of the legs. It can be helpful to see a dermatomal map which are easy to find on an internet search.
