Kid, I am a retired electrical engineer. I was also an electronics technician for 10 years. I have wired many solar systems as well as designed and constructed many electronic panels.. I can say that EVEN I would have a hard time doing as well as you did. I carefully watched your video and you did it all right, the safe way and you can be proud of what you did. It is rare to see a hobbyist or a DIY person with the experience that you have. I would like to ask you: Did you have a professional helping you do/produce this project?? If yes, good job. If not, GREAT Job.. Either way, a first class job. This is one of the best videos I have seen
Thank you for the kind words. I am 100% self-taught with zero prior experience. I did in-depth research for over a year before the install which helped me greatly ☺️

This is absolutely fantastic! The workmanship you put into that system is top-notch. I'm particularly excited to see the detail you put into the 'how to connect to the starting battery of a Promaster' section on this build. I have not seen that part documented on a promaster as clearly as you showed in this video and I'll definitely be referring people to that section specifically when I get asked about that topic. Well done!
Thank you so much! The EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits made this project a breeze. Every van DIYer will benefit greatly from your resources and product offerings😄

I do appreciate the full breakdown of everything all the way down to the tools. A lot of people don't do that these days. They just assume you'll figure it out. Some people for reasons that may differ may need that extra input. I personally don't need those bits of detail because of my previous jobs, but there are definitely people who do. Best electrical video I have seen - very much appreciate how you are providing list of tools and capture every single step required to complete electrical install. Section identification in the video timeline has been super helpful. Thank you so much for sharing with other van builders.🙂
Wow Lauren! What an amazing and educational vid. Being that it's over 2 hrs. long, it'll take me a while to watch the video from start to finish. But that's cool because I'll pause it many times and still see it in its entirety. Thanks for doing such a great and detailed job on this. You're a marvelous and very helpful teacher. 🍎😀
This series has been really informative and watching your progress is awesome! The leds under your cabinets....A+! Can't wait to see the finished project! Nice work, seriously!
I watched the entire video process of your installation. You are a badass ! I have been considering installing enough solar capability on our fifth wheel that we won’t have to “plug in” if we don’t want to OR can’t, so I’ve been researching it and watching as many TH-cam videos as possible on the subject. Gotta say, your video has been THE MOST comprehensive video on the subject of installation I’ve seen to date. Again, you ARE a badass ! This was an awesome tutorial. Granted, installing a solar array in a van is completely different than installing on a fifth wheel, but the concept is the same. Wire sizes may be different due to lengths of run, as well as other factors. Please allow me to offer a small tidbit of advice. I do know from several years of experience RVing that electrical connections, especially in a moving vehicle, HAVE torque specs. I had to replace the charge controller in our old travel trailer once, and each of the terminals had a torque spec depending on size. It forced me to buy torque screw driver and bits in order to install correctly. Absolutely do not want a fire in a camper, those things go up like a bonfire at a keggar. Be safe, Happy Trails, and God Bless 😊
Thank you very much, Lauren. You are fantastic. This is the best and most precise description of electrical connections I have seen. All your videos are very instructive. You are the best of all TH-cam van builders. Great work!
Wow what a life saver you are! I can’t believe I hadn’t found you before. Im trying to finally convert a van but Im planing everything first and this video just gave me the confidence into doing this part myself, you explained everything so well, I am finally understanding how everything goes. Thank you so much for doing this. ❤
Searched for weeks on TH-cam for an explanation to properly connect Victron components and Lauren your video is by far the best and very easy to understand what I've seen in all those weeks! Big compliment for how you did this in all peace! Amazing job Lauren! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Lauren...WOW! What an awesome and very technical video of step by step "how to" install an electrical system the correct way and to code. I know you made Nate proud and have taught a lot us some things along the way. Good luck and blessings as you continue to build out your van!
Fantastic video. Just a question, why did you connect the batteries furtherest from the fuse holder? I must say a big thank you for this video. I’m a 54 year old engineer who has been struggling a bit with the understanding of how a good 12v system should look like. Suddenly you helped me to become very confident
Im just so impressed, i think that was the best presentation i have e er seen when it comes down to hining in on the job. I needed all the work up to the real install, and yours was perfect, like a diving board when finially getting to the pool ! Hu rahhhh !
Thank you for creating this video. I believe I can speak for everyone when I say your audience also shared your enthusiasm when you wired the ceiling fan and it powered on (Time 1:22:25)! Also, I now have a greater appreciation for the benefits and convenience of using the EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits.
Hi Lauren, just a note to say it looks like you forgot to replace the black cable separators between the Positive and Negative wires on the Lynx Distributor. Great instruction video!
@@LaurenLawliss Hi Lauren, 4x4s point could be worth correcting or checking off with Nat, as the cable separators are likely designed to ensure insulation, under all conditions bar submersion, between the positive and negative.
I agree 100% with you, ExploristLife folks and their videos are AMAZING!! I'm converting a box truck by myself for full-time living (currently been FT in a Lazy Daze RV for over four years), so I'm right there with ya! So much to learn, but what a grand adventure we are on! Fantastic job!!

GREAT VIDEO! MAYBE EVEN GOAT for van life builds. I used to work for fortune 500 semiconductor company (Dont' want to say which) but this video was MUCH high quality and more educational training videos we got. Great job Lauren! You should legit add to / edit this video as needed and try to sell it to them. I think a lot of companies would buy it in a second.
@@LaurenLawlissDearest Laura, I also am business and have business and believe business would buy you, please consider us when you need PVC piping 20-60cm x any length, we can pipe
Great job explaining step by step. Just always be careful when you are working on open bus bar that are “hot”. Keep you body away! Electricity should be respected and revered. Stay safe! 🤙
Thanks for the great video. You don't need the excess wire from the positive of the battery, the bank would still be balanced as the travel length for the electrons to each battery would still be the same for all the batteries.
Wow girl! I mean WOW! GREAT JOB, BE PROUD!!! Hay, want to do my wiring? AND THE VIDEO TOO, WOW!!!😮 SO complete, I guess some people DO know how to communicate still but not very many.
I put 7000 watts of inverters and 45 kw of 24 volt lifepo4 with my victron charge controllers and another 200 amps of 110 volt to 24 volt powermax chargers all in the cabinet under my campers bed. It was well over 20 grand of components and its amazing but was cooking under the bed. I had to put two small fans.. one pushing one pulling air from under the bed to help cool under there but now its all working great. This lifestyle is very comfortable with the right equipment. Thanks to you allaking videos i was confident in my installation and did it all myself. Thanks for the videos
@@LaurenLawliss I think the victron charge controllers have this thing built in where if they start over heating they start cutting back the charge. Atleast that's what mine seemed to be doing until I installed the little fans. You have a great looking install by the way. O yeah... I got this little temp switch off amazon that controls the fans now and it works really good without me needing to turn them on or off now it's just kinda automatic. Anyways.. thanks for the video
@@LaurenLawliss i wouldn't want that amount of electromagnetic radiation close to me while im sleeping. When I do my build I hope to put my batteries and power system as far from the bed as possible.
Man I wish I'd have seen this video way before I screwed my solar up,,,You Had the answers to everything i needed and more,,Godd thing is now I know and can go fix what we did wrong, could not understand why I kept blowing the fuse for the 12 volt side,,Thank you so much for this !
If it was me I would use a gfci outlet for every outlet. These detect a difference in currents going out of and returning to the receptacle ( .04-.06 milliamperes typically) this way if an appliance faults it won’t become energized The term used by electricians for the connectors used to connect a SO/SOOW cable assembly or single wire in to a box/housing/panel is often referred to as a CGB vs your term “gland” in case someone needs to get an extra one at an electrical supply house. I am impressed with your simple to follow, rudimentary, accurate and step by step instruction and installation of this electrical system. My only extra advice is that there are good reasons for having a manual disconnect switch for every portion of the integrated system especially when troubleshooting or servicing or if a component of the system fails. Perhaps these disconnect switches could be installed just outside of the main battery/inverter compartment in case of a fire. I also like the idea of having the system in a steel or aluminum box ( I realize this could effect Bluetooth connections maybe the dongle could be mounted just outside of it)It will probably never have a catastrophic incident however if it did it a high amperage fault could be ugly. One last thing normally residential/commercial breaker panels are made by a specific manufacturer and typically the panels are UL listed to have only there own brand and model of breaker used in that panel. I noticed you used a Square D single pole 50 amp as well as some Siemens tandem 20 amp breakers in the same 120 volt breaker box. Are both of these brands approved for use in it? I bring this up because I have seen insurance company’s try to deny customer insurance claims because different breakers were used in homes. If I may also recommend insure when you set a clamp ( your shore power socket) that it is on top of the outer Romex insulation/jacketing, otherwise great job.

I'll buy you a coffee or a beer!
Thank you! Your kind words mean so much. See you on the road🤞🏼
I love how specific she is... She literally says the full 100% exact name of every single component over and over again lol.
It got very repetitive but I’m glad you found it helpful 😆
Awesome video, very methodical, easy to understand the procedure start to finish. I have watched a lot of videos on electrical install for van's etc, but i am glad i have now found one as a reference to practically the same install/brand i will be installing to my future build.
Thank you for sharing.
Glad you found the video helpful! Best of luck on your future build 😁
I watched this from start to finish. Extremely detailed video well planned and executed. 💯💯
Thanks for watching and commenting 🫶🏻
Hello Mahmoud, I am from Iran. I have a solar power system at home and I learned a lot from you. Good luck.
Welcome! Glad you found the video helpful.
This video is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing all of your resources!
Thank you for the kind words🫶🏻
I do appreciate the full breakdown of everything all the way down to the tools. A lot of people don't do that these days. They just assume you'll figure it out. Some people for reasons that may differ may need that extra input. I personally don't need those bits of detail because of my previous jobs, but there are definitely people who do. Keep up the good work.
Happy I could help 😄
I think this might be the best electrical install video I have ever seen and I think I have watched most of them ;)
Thank you, Amy! That means a lot🥹
Best electrical video I have seen - very much appreciate how you are providing list of tools and capture every single step required to complete electrical install. Section identification in the video timeline has been super helpful. Thank you so much for sharing with other van builders.🙂
she oversized about everything x3
I appreciate the kind words and am glad you found it helpful🥰
Wow, you are more equiped than most electricians out there. I really hope you get to use it all more than once.
Haha I enjoyed this project a lot 😅
Great video!
Appreciate it💖
Great job explaining everything Lauren.
Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you being here🥰
This series has been really informative and watching your progress is awesome! The leds under your cabinets....A+! Can't wait to see the finished project! Nice work, seriously!
Thank you for the kind words - I appreciate it a lot!
Thank you for the kind words! Best of luck on whatever you decide to do for your 5th wheel☺️
Thank you very much, Lauren. You are fantastic. This is the best and most precise description of electrical connections I have seen. All your videos are very instructive. You are the best of all TH-cam van builders. Great work!
Thank you! Your kind words mean so much🥰
Wow what a life saver you are! I can’t believe I hadn’t found you before. Im trying to finally convert a van but Im planing everything first and this video just gave me the confidence into doing this part myself, you explained everything so well, I am finally understanding how everything goes. Thank you so much for doing this. ❤
I am so glad to hear!! Thank you 💖
Searched for weeks on TH-cam for an explanation to properly connect Victron components and Lauren your video is by far the best and very easy to understand what I've seen in all those weeks!
Big compliment for how you did this in all peace!
Amazing job Lauren!
Greetings from the Netherlands.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind comment! I am glad you found the video helpful. Best of luck with your install😆
Lauren...WOW! What an awesome and very technical video of step by step "how to" install an electrical system the correct way and to code. I know you made Nate proud and have taught a lot us some things along the way. Good luck and blessings as you continue to build out your van!
Awh thank you for the kind words!! Appreciate you watching🥰
Fantastic video. Just a question, why did you connect the batteries furtherest from the fuse holder?
I must say a big thank you for this video. I’m a 54 year old engineer who has been struggling a bit with the understanding of how a good 12v system should look like. Suddenly you helped me to become very confident
Your attention to detail is outstanding!
Thank you!😄
Very well done video!
Thank you very much!
Im just so impressed, i think that was the best presentation i have e er seen when it comes down to hining in on the job. I needed all the work up to the real install, and yours was perfect, like a diving board when finially getting to the pool ! Hu rahhhh !
I am so glad you found it helpful! Best of luck with your install, you got this🙌🏼😆
How does this girl only have 14k subs? Amazing video
Thank you 💖
This video is so well-organized and I look forward to learning a lot from you! Thank you!
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Well done Lauren you are a champion.
Appreciate it!
Wow ... such an amazing video. Thank You!
Appreciate it 💖
Thank you for creating this video. I believe I can speak for everyone when I say your audience also shared your enthusiasm when you wired the ceiling fan and it powered on (Time 1:22:25)! Also, I now have a greater appreciation for the benefits and convenience of using the EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits.
Thank you for watching! Hahah yeah, it was exciting to see it all work. @EXPLORIST.life wiring kits are a no brainer - it made my life A LOT easier🤩
Hi Lauren, just a note to say it looks like you forgot to replace the black cable separators between the Positive and Negative wires on the Lynx Distributor.
Great instruction video!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Right!? EXPLORIST.Life is AMAZING🤩 Good luck with the rest of your build and safe travels.
@@LaurenLawliss , thanks! You, too!
Some one invested a TON in tools
Only about $300 and at the end of the day I didn’t need them all. So if you are on a limited budget, there are some tools you can do without.
Without a doubt the very best, how to wire video on you tube. You have done an amazing job. So very neat and tidy install. Bravo madame bravo. WHen it comes time for me someday soon I hope You will be my resource. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for the kind words!❤️
GREAT VIDEO! MAYBE EVEN GOAT for van life builds. I used to work for fortune 500 semiconductor company (Dont' want to say which) but this video was MUCH high quality and more educational training videos we got. Great job Lauren! You should legit add to / edit this video as needed and try to sell it to them. I think a lot of companies would buy it in a second.
Thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate the kind words, means a lot🥰❤️
@@LaurenLawlissDearest Laura, I also am business and have business and believe business would buy you, please consider us when you need PVC piping 20-60cm x any length, we can pipe
An absolutely superb video for anyone coming to solar/battery backup ( in no way limited to van conversions)
Thank you! Appreciate it😄
Extremely detailed and clear explanation! Awesome!
Thank you, appreciate it!
You help me to move forward. And Don t be afraid to build my van❤️. Thanks
That means so much! I am glad I can help. Best of luck with your build❤️
WOW. Cute, Handy and Smart 😊
Welcome!
GO GIRL. This is the Best instruction how to Video i have ever seen , Great Job video and instaltion A+
Thank you very much! Appreciate it🥰
amazing💪💪. best video i've ever seen about electrical installation in a van build. congrats🙌. good work!
Glad you like it. Thanks🥰
Great job explaining step by step. Just always be careful when you are working on open bus bar that are “hot”. Keep you body away! Electricity should be respected and revered. Stay safe! 🤙
Thanks! 100%
Thanks for the great video. You don't need the excess wire from the positive of the battery, the bank would still be balanced as the travel length for the electrons to each battery would still be the same for all the batteries.
From my research, talking to the experts and manufactures, they all advised this was the correct way to do it 😁
Wow girl! I mean WOW! GREAT JOB, BE PROUD!!! Hay, want to do my wiring? AND THE VIDEO TOO, WOW!!!😮 SO complete, I guess some people DO know how to communicate still but not very many.
Wow! Thank you for the kind words; it means a lot🥰🙌🏼
probably one of the best videos on this ive seen well done
Thanks so much! That means a lot🥰
Very well done, informative and easy to follow.
I agree with fellow poster about battle born over priced items.
Thanks! Yes, certainly a costly install but was perfect for me.
FANTASTIC. Whatched the whole video. Too bad I never seen such a distribution panel for 220VAC. It is a beautifull electrical installation 😊
Appreciate it!!!❤️❤️
Very likely the best video on this topic; well done!
I appreciate it!
Wow! Nice setup. I’m glad my video gave you the confidence to do your install. I am so glad to hear it is working well, enjoy☺️
Just wondering how your power system is doing? Is it getting really hot being in the confined space.
Not at all😄 I have installed a vent in the back and a 12v fan for air flow to prevent it from overheating. So far, so good!
This is such a helpful video, I’ve watched some sections many times. Thank you
Glad to hear you find it helpful🫶🏻
Man I wish I'd have seen this video way before I screwed my solar up,,,You Had the answers to everything i needed and more,,Godd thing is now I know and can go fix what we did wrong, could not understand why I kept blowing the fuse for the 12 volt side,,Thank you so much for this !
I’m glad you found the video helpful. Best of luck with your fixes💖☺️
If it was me I would use a gfci outlet for every outlet. These detect a difference in currents going out of and returning to the receptacle ( .04-.06 milliamperes typically) this way if an appliance faults it won’t become energized
The term used by electricians for the connectors used to connect a SO/SOOW cable assembly or single wire in to a box/housing/panel is often referred to as a CGB vs your term “gland” in case someone needs to get an extra one at an electrical supply house.
Using some electrical tape wrapped around your tool can help to avoid accidental arcing ( and wear you safety glasses)
Correct. I do have GFCI outlets in the van and a few master switches for different parts of the system. Electrical tape is a great tool too.
One of the best all around videos! Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the kind words🥰
