    For me it's one of the best videos of Paul reubens, cause it's the only one he is himself at that age. I really love this man! I'm from Switzerland and saw him first as teen in the cheech n Chong movies, since then I have a big crush on him like never before (ok, except that I had on David bowie 😄) it's that sad Paul reubens hadn't much more roles in films, he would have do it sooo great and I could watch it now 😊

    I have much respect for this artist and his approach to his art. Yeah, he was a little strange in real life, but he was brilliant at his craft. its going to be a long, long time before someone else who is also new, fresh, and completely unique to the art be discovered again. God bless you Paul. The sun was just that much brighter while you were here.

    I have to say, even as a kid I noticed the level of diversity on Pee Wee's Playhouse. It was something I just didn't see in many places in those days. Seeing the cast behind the scene (just as diverse) talking about their days working on Pee Wee's Playhouse and how they were afforded a lot of opportunities they otherwise might not have gotten really is inspiring. The show was literally decades ahead of its time.

    This was fantastic seeing this full interview! Thank you! 14:51 foreshadowing, One of the things I admire about Paul is yes, he lost everything and he had to start over. He could’ve gave up but he didn’t. He took small roles in the 90s til 2001 when he was on top of the world again. Anyone who can rebuild a career and is still to this day is talked about and loved it’s very impressive.

    What a way for my father George D. Shelton to ruin high school senior prom night. He did it just by when he dropped out of high school on April 9th, 1954. Pee Wee Herman/Paul Reubens is going to get disappointed if he ever finds out about this. He'll even find out that George D. Shelton even had trouble following orders in the U.S.A.F. (United States Air Force) at first. That's why my father George D. Shelton received a transfer to an Osaka Japan distant military outpost. This took place during the first Cold War Russia. 🥶 ☃️ 🧊 🧥 ❄️ 😓 🥶 🇷🇺 🪖 🇯🇵 🇺🇸

      Paul didn't follow through on his promise to share the profits of the Pee-wee empire with Phil. Phil helped Pee-wee develop his material up through the success of the 1985 movie, including being with him on his Letterman appearances and co-writing the movie including being there on set the whole time to help out.

      Yes Phil Hartman was great but Paul and he both wrote it and Paul lived it, in character all the time and Phil Hartman wanted to be in SNL and do other things while Paul Reubens would be living PeeWee. every single person who knows Paul Reubens says he was amazing, brilliant, a humanitarian, honest, a beautiful human being.What you are getting is from a Howard Stern interview Paul Reuben was PeeWee Herman and he gave Phil Hartman credit but Phil Hartman wanted to be on SNL which he got thru Paul Reubens. It's unfair to denigrate a great man when you are misinformed

    This poor guy was railroaded. He would've been a billionaire had that one unfortunate incident hadn't happened in 1991. Kids today will never understand how big Pee-Wee was. He was bigger than Dwayne Johnson, Mr. Beast, Taylor Swift, etc. All the huge celebrities of today pale in comparison to Pee-Wee at the height of his fame. Pee-Wee wasn't just a character from a kid's show. Pee-Wee was an empire. He had tv shows, movies, videos, a clothing line, a toy line, he performed to sellout crowds at stadiums, he had a star on the walk of fame. And all of that was gone within a matter of minutes of the news publishing the story. JC Penney pulled his entire clothing line within seconds of the story breaking. And I have boycotted JC Penney for 30+ years because of how gutless they were. And I will continue my boycott for the remainder of my life. RIP Paul.

    • @Bubs0271
      @Bubs0271 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I was around for it, and yes, when he hit he absolutely dominated television and media. He was a cultural phenomenon. I think his star burned so bright that the powers at be finally had enough because NO ONE else could get even a sliver of his recognition at the time, so they used whatever they could to take him out.

    • @I_WANT_MY_SLAW
      @I_WANT_MY_SLAW 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bubs0271 what the media did to him was pure evil. I didn't know Paul personally, but from what all of his friends have said about him, he was a kind, gentle soul. Key word, gentle. Every single one of his friends said he was gentle. He was a true gentleman. Gentle people aren't built for the type of attack that the media launched agianst him. And for what? Something completely natural, that we all do? (Or have lied about never doing.) It broke Paul. And the newsmedia always had an extreme hatred for Pee-Wee. So when they got their opportunity to destroy him, they pounced. They hated Pee-Wee, because they couldn't understand why he was so popular. They were people who took themselves way too seriously. They did the same thing with Barney the dinosaur in the 90s. Heck they even had a vendetta against Mister Rogers. And they tried everything to destroy even Mister Rogers. But they were never ever to find anything. So they just made up stuff about Fred, and tried to gaslight people into hating him. Saying stuff like he was turning kids into narcissists. When in reality, the only narcissists are the people in the newsmedia. Obviously the newspeople in 80s are completely different than the ones around today. Most of those people from the 80s are dead. The ones today are the people who grew up with Pee-Wee, and Barney, and Mister Rogers.
      And I feel so bad for Paul, because he never really recovered personally from the vitriolic attacks he got after making a mistake. It really hurt him. He was a gentle soul. He wasn't built to handle that type of attack. And his comedy was never comedy that attacked others.
      And the evil media also robbed Paul of hundreds of millions of dollars. They destroyed his entire empire. Because Pee-Wee wasn't just a kid's show. He was a conglomerate. He had tv shows, movies, videos, a clothing line, a toy line, he performed to sellout crowds at stadiums, he had a star on the walk of fame. And all of that was gone within a matter of minutes of the news publishing the story. I blame Karen Dillon specifically, as she was the one who broke the story. She destroyed Paul's life. And she destroyed our lives. The fans never stopped loving Pee-Wee. And he would've been embraced with open arms, which he was when he did finally return 20 years later. But we were robbed of Pee-Wee in the 90s and 2000s. Paul had plans on doing a claymation animated show and/or movie in the 90s. Along with a giant balloon in the Thanksgiving day parade, a long with a parade float with Pee-Wee and all of the playhousecharacters. We never got that. Paul had plans on making Playhouse the movie, where the characters left the playhouse for the first time. We never got that. Paul had plans on doing a gritty reboot of Pee-Wee, called The Pee-Wee Herman Story, which was going to be a parody on gritty reboots. Never got that. He was tapped to host a reboot of the game show Fun House, which was gonna be rebranded as Pee-Wee's Fun House. We never got that. He had also been in the early stages of creating an actual Pee-Wee theme park, similar to Dollywood or Margaritaville. And we never got that. All because of the evil media.
      And to think that the Blippi character sold for $3 billion. Imagine what Paul could've sold Pee-Wee for? $10 billion. There's no doubt that if that incident hadn't happened, Paul would've been a billionaire.

      I'm so grateful I was an 80s kid who grew up watching him. My mom always thought what he got in trouble for was stupid so when I asked why everyone seemed to be mad at him, she told me don't worry about it. Because she loved him too. Once I was old enough to really understand it, I still didn't care. He made my childhood amazing, he didn't hurt anyone, it was just wrong place wrong time, and that was all. But you're right. If more people looked at it like it wasn't the big deal they made it out to be, he would have been huge!! Poor Paul. ❤

      I totally agree with everything you said, I was a huuuge fan when I was younger also, something about his comedy and mannerisms, to his facial expressions, the way he spoke, I just laughed and laughed and laughed, the guy was simply hilarious in every way possible and alot of people were jealous of his success and wanted him to fail and it's sad, but in the end he overcame all that and moved on, which Is great, this interview is probably the best I've ever seen of him, outside of his character.
