The Edgerunners series really captured how insanely powerful Smasher is. In the Cyberpunk lore he is an absolute monstrosity, clad in the best tech there is. It's also possible he's long gone psycho, but in a very methodical way.

If you understand how the eye implant/mod works, it makes perfect sense. It highlights enemies that have detected you. If Adam has the same mod (which I guarantee he does, if not better) it makes perfect sense. If the player had the mod when he walked in, they’d detect him. And that would set off Adams mod, because an “enemy” (the player) detected them. So Adam would’ve seen you the second he walked in. And he would’ve immediately seen you because your mod would’ve set off his. You detected him. So he detected you. kinda confusing but makes sense if you get it

This is due to Adam being coded to be in an alert state, when you dont hide properly adam appears and kills you and always knows where you are. When you're in the cutscene this state is still active but obviously adam cant attack you during a cutscene so he just stares at you.

I was just replaying the game last night to actually finish it this time and on this part I did notice him staring at me. And I got thinking like “this guy has so many augmentations. If u scan him it says he is 96% robot. So how did he not scan me in there if the body guard did. I would assume he would have some high tech thing to scan us instantly.” I thought it was so stupid how he didn’t see us but now it makes sense. He let it happen

The AI of the characters in game operate in cutscenes to. Yet the control over the characters body is overrided by cutscene animation. Though its "brain" react to the player and can be in alert state.
So it's a bug?
@@_slatt most likely. Any gameplay features has to be deactivated during cutscenes , so the problem is that this danger evaluation skill still working.
@@disaster2048 yeah but technicallly that's a pretty hard thing to get so early, so maybe it is intentional. I highly doubt that eye power up (I don't know the technical name) it's easily accessible so early without a lot of farming or money glitch.

I was pretty much going to say this. He’s the only character in the room designed to be an enemy and it wouldn’t make sense from a lore perspective since Adam doesn’t care about making big plays to change his station in the corporate ladder.
“Those eyes! For god sake, what’s happened to his eyes?” For real though, they got that evil look down to a science in that scene.
To answer your question: The only living biological matter of Adam Smasher, is about a tea cup of brain matter, in this 97% robotic body. When he got blasted to bits the very first time, that was all his choombas could scoop up. Arasaka put it in the body, and got themselves a loyal sociopathic guard.

Smasher was ganger in New York who got robo copped. His friends literally scooped him into a bag after he was shot to pieces. Arasaka offered to give him a new body in return for obedience.
I didn't know they made it official but I expected him to tear us out of the wall at any moment. He just stood there and stared, not even bothering to hide that he knows.

Fullborg, (as far as I know) he was able to upload his consciousness, likely with soulkiller. He has a Elvis Presley body he uploads himself to just hang and date. Honestly we don't know if V killed Adam smasher, we just know he destroyed his military grade body. Still impressive tho

AGREED.After watching Edgerunners I literally thought about this. There’s no way with his mods he couldn’t have seen or heard Jackie’s loud ass. Second there’s no way that he would have not caught us being in the same building. He was definitely conspiring with the son and was probably on call to use us as scapegoats for the Patricide.

Now Yorinobu doesn't have the chip, doesn't have the culprits and unity of Arasaka, and is in the position he finds himself. His entire goal was to destroy Arasaka. If he gave the chip to netwatch and offed his dad (which wasn't the plan anyway) Arasaka would be hurting.

First time I played I thought this was a bug, after watching edge runners decided to give the street kid a run. I was at this part and realized Smasher 100% is aware of me and Jackie.

The moment I saw that I knew what would happen, Adam knew that Yorinobu would kill Saburo and we were the perfect scapegoat for him. I remember thinking why he wasn’t attacking us or didn’t say anything even though he was clearly looking at us.
Not only that, even while escaping he just intimidated us by jumping infront of the car and not doing much afterwards. He was fully capable of capturing or even destroying us at that point.
If you try hiding anywhere else Adam finds you and kills you, so I don't buy it. The game is shallow and poorly written. The lack of depth and nuance is very apparent; They would simply not do this or are even incapable of it.

But he didnt kill jackie and V at that moment cuz he knew they werent an immediate threat and didnt give a shit about them being there. Honestly the game should have had you fight Adam in the prologue but he doesn't finish you off, just leaves you for dead where someone finds you and fixes you up. That way you could see how far you've come in your power when you fight him again and beat him.

you are beneath him in everything, He probably scanned you, realized you where nothing, and had minimal enhancements and would pose such little risk he would waste his time and ammunition. So unless he was ordered to kill you then he would simply not care.
more likley he didnt see us as a threat. he barley didnt even wanna deal with David in Edgerunners and then David had that cyber skeleton thing on him. we where flies to him then. at the end of the game he is ordered to deal with us wich is why he fights us.
It’s 1 of 3 things. Either it’s a bug in the games code. It was intended but was a plot whole. Or it was intended but with deeper meaning behind it.

I would absolutely love for an alternate version of that scene to be added where, if you talk too much, Adam just full on sprints at you and pulls you out from behind that screen.
It would show what you're dealing with perfectly.
It makes that scene even scarier that he knows you're there but decides to play with his food instead of killing you outright. The beginning mission was very well done. Wish the rest of the game lived up to it.
The developers said that he doesn't know you are there. This NPC in cyberpunk is programed to know where you're at all times (because you fight him later) . They actually have a pretty thorough explanation on it too. Yorinobu never planned to kill Syaburo. So for Adam Smasher to know you are there and not kill you doesn't fit the narrative.

@@zachking4856 there was so much focus on the beautiful and Intracite environment in the game, that most of the work was put into that (justifiable I might add) that not enough was put into the code

One of it's biggests errors that disappointed people was the *massive* marketing campaign for the game, if it wasn't promoted as the next "revolutionary video game" it would've been alright.

I kind of assumed they were both aware of V and Jackie's presence, with him deciding to use their heist as the opportunity to eliminate his father, and push all the blame on to them.

Equip is the base. "Equipped" is the past tense. I don't know what equippeded is.
The reason Smasher gets his ass handed to him in game probably because David is just putting chrome when he finds some, only relying on his resistance to hold together the unoptimized tech. V buys it from really expensive ripperdocs, is able to get them when his body is ready. Not to mention, V is older, wiser, and has Silverhand in his head, repairing the brain constantly, so no cyberpsychosis ever. And the exoskeleton David wore had a big weakness as Smasher said, if the gravity modifiers are gone, it can't even move. And Smasher had the luxury of examining the enemy before the fight, V did not get scouted before, so Smasher was going in blind.
I love how after Edgerunners people now see V as simply being overpowered instead of Smasher being weak.
I noticed it that Smasher stared right at me but the question is, why does the personal bodyguard of the most powerful man on the Planet don't have this basic mod?
cyberpsychosis is the answer. ig the anime covers this more but when ppl get high tech implants or too much implants their brain cant keep up and they go psycho and kill anything in sight. V canonically is quite strong so it doesn't effect. the anime character gets minorly affected but canonically is also quite strong. its theorised that adam smasher is unaffected as hes always been a psycho, so cyberpsychosis does nothing but add to his already psychotice personality. i would assume ppl of higher power want to keep sane to run a country

It doesn’t fill completely. Definitely sure that’s a failed scan from the Arasaka mook. I’m sure Adam’s chrome is good enough there wasn’t even a warning, he doesn’t have to scan you in the normal fashion, he can probably just see though that wall no problem with thermal imaging.

That’s pretty scary when you look at this scene out of context, knowing that the big scary guy highlighted in red means he sees you.
Unfortunately people already investigated this and found that in the code it forces the values on since adam is a boss. A boss* in cyberpunk2077 always detects you so that way the fight progresses normally.
I was terrified because I was sitting there on my first play through like: “HE SEES ME! HE SEES ME!!!”
This happens in a lot of scenes such as when you ambush the wraiths in ghost town, but the weird part about this scene is that smasher is the only one who detects you and he’s also staring you down the whole time
He looks like he sees you right as he enters the room he glances then takes a slow take then walks in slow then just stands in the back staring that just shows he saw you and kept quite but he definitely is looking at you
it makes sense especially if Adam has the same implant/mod. it highlights enemies that have detected you. So if the player noticed him, that would’ve set off adams mod. Allowing him to see the player. And the player sees Adam highlighted because the players implant would’ve set off Adams upon entry.
It makes sense, Smasher don't give no Fs if he isn't paid to do it, unless it gets him a free pass at mass collateral damage and he could very well know about the plan which would tossed out if he had alerted everyone to V and Jackie's presence. So ultimately, alerting everyone at that moment would be detrimental.
Or...just hear me out, it could be a shortcut CDPR took because that's the final boss model and he can be killed if you no clip to where he waits during the car scene (you can get his access token this way and get the blueprint in his secret stash room before the end game).

I had a feeling too. There was no way he didn't know, he most def scanned the area. I also thought the same with Takamura looking directly at main character in this scene.

I saw another short about this and yea you can say he knew all along, but apparently all boss enemies are coded to always spot you no matter what, he just didn't attack because once again he's coded to not attack during this interaction

My only problem with this theory is Tanaka noticed you were there too. He was just more subtle about it and not staring at you the whole time. But he looks right at you twice. It's also why he doesn't commit to taking you in cause he doesn't think you actually killed Saburo and is suspicious of Yorinobu
I don’t think so man, It could be possibly but im sure he’s so dedicated to his job as Saburo’s body guard that he wouldn’t risk V and Jackie being able to kill Saburo and Yorinobu right there (That’s not their motives but he doesn’t know that)

Also why wouldn't that be a a cool feature for the story? Implies Adam Smasher just straight up didn't see you as a threat so chose not to act.

“Equippeded” my friend THAT is a new one.
I mean my first playthrough i was level 27 when i faced smasher, and well i lost like 20 times, then on my second playthrough i was level 50 and i was done with smasher in like two minutes, it's not that smasher is a weak boss, it's V is a fucking god at a high level
