I just played it for the first time last week and immediately fell in love with it. Can't get enough of this game tbh.
Love this game and the entire West Kingdom series.
Going to try Lacerda games after enjoying the engine building of this game so much.

Glad you made the effort given all the other choices. One of my favorites. Not sure if I need "more complexity" from the expansion but I'm thinking about it.
I’m hoping to check out & cover the expansion soon. Really thrilled with Paladins the more I play and it’s nice having a game that feels both challenging and rewarding; reminds me of when I first got into this hobby.
@@TheCardboardHerald I prefer Paladins to Viscounts solo, since the Automa isn't stuck on a particular strategy. I enjoy solo Viscounts more than solo Architects, but Architects would be my choice for multi-player.
This was one of my early hobby pick ups. I learnt the rules and we played it one night finishing at 00:30 following about 3.5 hours of play (2 player). It then sat on my shelf for 2 years until this weekend when i taught my wife on Sunday morning and we loved it! There is a lot to think about and a busy board but not too bad once you understand the processes, the strategy however is a different story, i do not know yet the focus, do you concentrate on 1 or 2 areas to concentrate on and try to max on those? looking forward to discovering this.
I did something similar, I tried it once or twice and struggled but now it is in full rotation with my group.
I haven't played but this video makes it look reminiscent of Orleans. I love Orleans but I've won it a lot so my family doesn't want to play it much anymore. Could Paladins be a replacement?
Get the co op expansion to revive Orleans
I'd play as a 2 player setup with me as both players, to learn the game in order for it to be taught to others. This saves a lot of time from having to then understand solo mechanics, or if the game didn't have one.

Yup, best of the series, and one of the best games ever designed (for me at least). So many stuff going on.
I really like the mechanics in this game, but I'm really struggling to play It well against the AI. Any gameplay coming our way? That could be useful to learn a few tips 🙂
I want to try this game but have a hard time enjoying the art depictions of people. Not quite cartoony, but something about it.

The solo AI is a pain to administrate, almost totally mechanical , complex, fiddly and non-intuitive. Currently it's a distraction for the gameplay which is very hard in a good way But you may be right - if one can get past that tedium and be able concentrate on the strategy it will be an interesting puzzly challenge. Still prefer the solo of Viscounts and the beautiful simplicity of Raiders. I suspect this is better played against humans - I must hunt some out
