@@grayninja3095 I’ve only played it at 2p and we’ve played probably 15+ times. The comments that say it’s chess like at 2p on BGG are right. Not much blocking at 2p and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
Lovely digestible review. This game has been all over all my feeds (TH-cam, Insta, Podcasts). I thought it might not be for me but I def have to play it after hearing your thoughts. Blue Lagoon is my fave Knizia game and this feels like it has elements of it as well.
Already own Babylonia and thinking about getting this after playing it once. I enjoyed the "thats pretty clever" feeling you get when comboing moves in the tracks. I am a bit a bit indecisive whether to get this or TTD (havent played it, but know its one of the classics). Seems like TTD is more about blocking and my game group tends to not focus on playing "meanly". Also, seems like this one is slightly heavier weight wise? what factors would make you choose one over the other? do you think a collection of this, babylonia and TTD is too similar?
I love the look of this one. I see just what you mean about old school aesthetics with new school production. Is the artist Ian O'Toole? I nearly backed this one, but it would compete with Through the Desert which is a favorite and hasn't gotten played since about two years ago.
Bought yesterday. Played twice last night. It is an instant hit for me. It’s going to get a lot of table time in my house.
Is it good for 2 players?

For me TTD is by far the better game.

Well next time I'm in Anchorage we'll have to get that copy of Through the Desert to the table!
Between Babylonian and Through the Desert I personally don’t think there is room for this
I think I like Samurai the best. Pollen is the card version, also fun.
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation remains my favorite of the Knizia bunch. I'm currently backing Rebirth and my hopes are pretty high for it.
That reminds me that I need to get a copy for my collection. As a LOTR fan and Knizia fan, it really should be in there.
