Discovered this channel a week ago and loving your playthrough tutorials. They are so clear and on the point while playing. Bought Paladins today. Looking forward to play it myself.
This was amazing walkthrough, thorough, clear, big thanks! I am about to try it and had about an hour to learn the game. I think this covered it nicely!
Great tutorial! Was a little daunted by this one and hadn't played it yet. Viscounts looks amazing, can't wait for it to arrive. Love that each game in the West Kingdom series seems to have a fresh take on worker placement without being too similar to each other. Excited to see how the Tomesaga will work with the trilogy.
Ufff.. and I thought Great western trail was complicated... boy I was wrong :v . Great playthrough though. It's so much appreciated, Jon. When this will be released in dutch, I may just purchase it.
I remove background noise, that's essentially the only processing I do. Most people don't have issues with it, though every now and then someone mentions an issue. I've tweaked it so many times over the years, it doesn't seem like there's a way to get it to a point where it's perfect for everyone unfortunately.
@@JonGetsGames Sorry to point it out then 😅 I studied sound engineering so I don't expect everyone to be so picky. The problem with removing too much noise is that it also removes frenquencies from your voice, but if most people don't notice, it's fine then 🙂
Thank you for putting this video together. You mentioned that you ONLY did this video because it was voted on. How did you enjoy this game? Kinda sounds like you hated it based on how you said that haha.
I discussed my impresisons of it here: th-cam.com/video/e5IVbSTQIFo/w-d-xo.html. I said "only" because these days 100% of my tutorials are created due to some outside force making it happen. I no longer select any videos to be made since my schedule is full with sponsored videos from publishers and from the Patreon voters.
@@JonGetsGames ah gotcha. Thank you for the clarification, I thought that may be the case. You put a lot of work into your videos, I hope 2020 is treating you well, and you keep being able to do what you love.
@41:00 - you misread the meaning of the second King's Favor card from the pile. (Not "spend 3 coins to take a recruit action" but rather "get a discount of 3 coins to take a recruit - + or recruit - x action").
Would it be easier or harder if you did a full playthrough but omitted the rules explanation? With the Patreon-sponsored games specifically, I mean. They tend to be more familiar (I own Paladins, for example), so I'm more interested in the playthrough. If it's also more enjoyable to produce, maybe that's a win-win scenario? Just a thought. Thanks for the video!
Unfortunately it would be significantly harder. The actual playing of the games takes a ton of time since there are so many decisions to make for every player. When I'm in teaching mode the priority is on teaching well vs actually playing the game well. I'm pretty sure I made some poor decisions in this video, but they led to good teaching moments as an example
45:30 - I think you forgot take one bonus worker for development :) I was going into video thinking that I won't like game, but watched all and I think I would enjoy playing it, but with 2 players, otherwise it seems to be game that might get long.
Good catch, thanks! I've added a note to the subtitles. You are correct about player count, I actually played a 4p game of this before recording the tutorial and it took about 4 hours! I've recorded an impressions vlog covering this already, it should go public at some point next week.
I've played this game a lot. It definitely can be long at 3 or 4 players because so much AP is possible. The time on the box (60-120 minutes) is true only with experienced players who plan their turns during others' turns. Since you are playing so much on your own board this is possible to do at least. Also because you are mostly playing on your own board, 2p works great.
CORRECTIONS:
55:47 - They are equal to the HIGHEST value they've crossed, not the lowest.
Wow, what a fantastic video. Tutorials don't get better than this! I watched the whole thing, then went and bought the game! Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

I'm always amazed how you can intelligently play multiple players effectively with these heavier end games. My brain would be completely rung out!

Really helpful to relearn this after not playing it for a year. Thank you.

In Architects they used Stone Age as a basis, looks like
Excellent run through as usual. Thanks, Jon!
This game is super awesome!
Waiting for the Viscounts!
The game hasn't arrived yet, but hypothetically it will soon and I hope to put that vide out within the month :)
Best explanation i saw about playing this game. Congratulations!
Viscounts still my favourite but excited for this playthrough !
Waiting for my kickstarter copy (coming with Viscounts), really excited. You made the game looks really smooth, thanks

Jon, thank you so much. Excellent playthrough! Got the rules and the game flow. :)
This was such a helpful walk through! So much better than Rahdo.
Great tutorial! I love watching you videos
Great content. I really enjoy your play throughs the most. Thank you for doing this.
You convinced me to purchase this game. Thank you.
I hope you enjoy it!
There's some heavy heavy influence of Orleans in this one!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
great content as always
great tutorial, best of the best
Jon, thanks a lot!! Second one of the series I learn from you =) There's something weird with the audio, though! Do you filter it a lot?

@55:43. I think you meant _"Each of the three attributed will be worth points equal to the _*_highest_*_ number they've crossed."_
Ah, yeah I did indeed mix my words up there. I've added a correction.
great video!
very good video, thanks!

Didn’t you miss the bonus labourer from develop action at 45:30? 😃
saving this for later :]
In order to place one of the developments, don't you have to place in an area you already used that turn (thus, had workers on it)?
You are allowed to do that, but it is not required.
@41:00 - you misread the meaning of the second King's Favor card from the pile. (Not "spend 3 coins to take a recruit action" but rather "get a discount of 3 coins to take a recruit - + or recruit - x action").
Ah yeah you are right, I was rushing through that section it seems.

which game of the series plays best at 2p?
I've only played Viscounts at 2p (and it was fun) so I can't compare the rest.
