The first one reminds me of when you're a kid and decide it would be a great idea to mix all your playdough colors together and then have immediate disappointment.
Omg yes!!! I felt this on a spiritual level! I had a Pizza Hut and a “soft serve” icecream play dough kit and I’d be having a blast making them but then the intense regret of mixing my colors together to the point I wrote a letter apologizing to Santa for ruining the play dough the elves worked so hard on. The guilt I felt! Lmao My mom consoled me! Hahahaha I had even started loosely making them so I could put all of the colors back separately.
Y'know, the color morph thing kinda reminded me of melted rainbow sherbet. Not really that ugly, just funny-looking in a kooky sort of way. I feel like a lot of little kids would still like it. Especially with the glitter on it. Kinda "pastel circus meets fairy dust".
I definitely needed to trust the process on this one. Even the second batch looked like it was going to swirl too much. Once it was finished and had the opalite on top, I could see the vision and it looks great.
Another plus side, I've never seen my cat beeing so faszinated by spmething. He kept trying to catch the buckets and the spatula and Katy's hands 😂 he had the time of his life.
youre wayyyy too leniant lol. shes not an amateur she's a professional soap maker i think we can agree when something looks horrible for our expectations of her work
I actually preferred the colours in the first soap once it was cut! I think they were very opal-y and I like that. The colourway you were aiming for is lovely it's just less my thing. The stamp is so cute! I definitely think the pink yeah.
Simply ~have~ to point out, at 9:08, the middle soap has a little smile face with Purple Heart eyes (perfect swirl !) and I think that's a wonderful sign
Pastels, opalite, and peach are my favoritessss, this is one of my favorite soaps you have ever made and I am absolutely getting one! I'm sorry the process was so stressful though! ;o;
the first one reminds me of how a zzapp ice lolly looked! they were always so fun and weird because they looked like they should be fruity but were actually toffee flavour....
It's amazing, the final result of the first batch did shift a little bit back to the original colors, but it looks like the bar of soap has a layer of dirt on it.
Idea for Caleb's method of marking where the embeds go so you don't have to use the grid... What about placing toothpicks in each spot? Then reuse them each time!
We had a couch in the 1990s with that grey and peach and tealy sage on it. Call it Dreaming of Arizona., or Coachella Vibes, add a ton of glitter to the top and sell it. Ecosoapbank is great too.
As you were pouring it, the colors reminded me of something. When I was younger I used to get the rainbow sherbet ice cream and mix it all together. The color came out exactly like this. As it poured out and mixed it reminded me of when I'd mix it and the colors morphed like that.
I hear that you are not too happy with this batch. I am very happy that you have a plan to send it to an organization if you remain unsatisfied. You are an amazing artist! Including the times you have messed up, there is *always* a bright side. You're doing a great job ❤️
Okay but that first color scheme reminded me of that iridescent shine in abalone shells Some minor tweaks in saturation and it would be perfect for an ocean themed collection!
Oh Katie your reactions are the best. 😂 it reminds me of when you did the fragrance oil test video and you had that beautiful blue mica soap that turned completely gray and tan. 😂 chemical reactions are just wacky!
I actually feel like if that purple/grey had been a really lovely olive green it would have had some lovely color vibes! Like an old-school Arizona interior decoration vibe that was definitely a thing. (Love the second batch ♥️)
Happy to see the collection finally available! Genuine question - when a color is not mixed to your liking, how come you're not able to add more pigment to it? Is it because it would take too much time to make more before the soap would begin to set? I am not a soap maker so I do not know how that works! Hope you're having better days lately, with love
It's probably a combination of multiple things (I am also not a soapmaker), but one reason i know for sure would be that over-blending will indeed set up the soap too fast!
The final result is just so perfect! And that sparkling peachy scent? *Chef's kiss!* After watching this video for the first time as I was falling asleep that night I thought to myself "in my 'measuring the diameter of the planet with a stick and a shadow' Era[tosthenes]" and woke myself up laughing. If I had a life I couldn't crack myself up with history references like this, so there's that. 😅😂😂
I can't wait for my soaps to get to me! I ordered In My Era and Teardrops, as well as candy trails because it's about that season! Had a batch flop today and could cry. The fragrance oil seized up super fast and I couldn't even dig it out of the bowl. Online the description said no acceleration. LIES! lol Anyhow, watching this made me realize that we are sometimes at the mercy of the ingredients and how they might act.
I have to agree with tranqilcottageknits, the colors are not what you tried to achieve but the result is really beautiful and in no way a fail at itself
Already sold out! I love the birthday cake one the best! Beautiful!! I hope things are going better for you! Take time to rest and enjoy your time! I think this videos (Paranormal Color Morph) soap looks like fruity pebbles in milk! I do like the pastel colors!!The remake with peach belini is beautiful! I know some oils make color morph so bad which is unfortunate but it's a live and learn process. That's why I enjoy soaping so much! Never the same thing !!
I'm in my nail polish obsessed era. 😅 Orly, ILNP and Holo Taco have a LOT to answer for! Just taken some pictures of my new soaps nestled into my box of nail polishes for the 'gram. (I hate taking selfies.)
makes me think of that period in the 80s where it was the desaturated pastels. It was huge in like beachy themed homes or kitchens. Everything was the muddy pastels, especially that peachy hot dog color and the muddy purple. haha
Honestly the only issue in the first one was that pink/orange. Teal and purple is such an underrated color combo. And purple and yellow are complimentary.
I would just like to add that you could also donate your soap to your local homeless shelters and foster care help groups so kids have their own bars of soap to take with them to foster homes. Eco Soap Bank is awesome, but they cook down the soap and combine with others to make entirely new soap. I'm sure the scent is still wonderful and will make someone very happy regardless of the colors.
I actually kind of liked the first batch. I think if you took the yellow out, the muted grey, pink, purple, and blue look really nice together. It feels gentle and mellow to me. Like hygge
Oh my goodness 😅 I´ve watched this video a couple of times. Everything about it is soooo funny even the music at THAT moment! 🤣The soap at the end though... i get it. It was´nt what you had wanted. But i actually like it. Thank´s for sharing!
I LOL so hard when the soap morphed and the music went slow mo. And the taco bell reference had me wheezing! 🤣 Even when you think you fail, you win. Always share these moments and laugh in the face of adversity. ❤ Much love!
I think the purple turned gray because you got some yellow and "hotdog" in there. Opposites on the color wheel creates desaturated colors. I actually really liked that soap as well but I'm happy you reached a result you wanted in the end! It looked a lot more intentional for sure
I tried to pause the video and read it but it does say on the agave bloom that it discolors. Still informative though on what that type of discoloration can look like with certain colors
Hate to disagree with you Dutchess but the "ugly" soap was gorgeous. Totally gave me abalone-opal-freshwater pearl vibes.
Big same, it was one of my all time favorites in all honesty ^_^"
Yeah! She could call it “oopsie opal”
Y’all are so kind. Believe me, the camera makes it look better than it does in real life. 😂😂😂
I loved it
*duchess not dutchess
The first one reminds me of when you're a kid and decide it would be a great idea to mix all your playdough colors together and then have immediate disappointment.
Lol it used to make me so anxious when my littles would mix the play doh together but I’ve learned to let it go
A poignant observation and one I agree with. 😂
Yes, this, exactly. 😅
Noooooo you're bringing back disappointing childhood memories! 😂
So, you could say for this soap that "everything has changed." 😂
🤣
Top tier comment!!!
LMAO
I want one😂👍🏼
The first soap wasn’t necessarily ugly, it just wasn’t the vision you were going for 😅 the folks at eco soap bank will love it!
Y'know, the color morph thing kinda reminded me of melted rainbow sherbet. Not really that ugly, just funny-looking in a kooky sort of way. I feel like a lot of little kids would still like it. Especially with the glitter on it. Kinda "pastel circus meets fairy dust".
This needs the "this is what I wanted - the pastels? And this is what I got" audio
That purple just fully neutralized! We love color theory!😅
The first reminded me of what rainbow sherbet looks like as it melts.
I thought that dulled soap was so pretty... every time she said yuck or its gross.. it broke my heart. those colours were gorgeous
That looked like a toddler ate Froot Loops and puked them up.
youre wayyyy too leniant lol. shes not an amateur she's a professional soap maker i think we can agree when something looks horrible for our expectations of her work
I actually preferred the colours in the first soap once it was cut! I think they were very opal-y and I like that. The colourway you were aiming for is lovely it's just less my thing. The stamp is so cute! I definitely think the pink yeah.
"I'm in my, it's getting better era"!
Life is ups and downs, just keeping stepping forward, it'll get and feel better!!! Much Love 🌹 🫶🤗
Simply ~have~ to point out, at 9:08, the middle soap has a little smile face with Purple Heart eyes (perfect swirl !) and I think that's a wonderful sign

why am I so into that grey and peach combo in the messed up first batch. so wrong but so right
I love that you included the whole 1st attempt
Very pretty. Is anyone else getting early 90s mall vibes from this soap because I am.
Yup, reminds me of the Littlewoods logo.
100%
I absolutly love how you don't glamour things and also share failed attempts with us. That's life. These things happen, and it makes you so relatable.
Idea for Caleb's method of marking where the embeds go so you don't have to use the grid... What about placing toothpicks in each spot? Then reuse them each time!
That second batch is so gorgeous! I'm so glad there's a charity for soap dantation too, that's really cool
i can make my own stamp letters or carve into it , no photoshop needed !!
i resculpted my smilyface in my soap a couple times hehehe
We had a couch in the 1990s with that grey and peach and tealy sage on it. Call it Dreaming of Arizona., or Coachella Vibes, add a ton of glitter to the top and sell it. Ecosoapbank is great too.

I think you could call your first soap English summer puddles lol as it looked like the rainbow effect you get on puddles ❤
I LOVED the first soap, being a non pastel soul, I loved it! Grey is my favorite color too! ❤
The slowed down music was such a great touch when the colors changed
I love that you show mistakes, its really refreshing and fun! And I love chemistry... makes me wonder how and why and my brain is so happy. :D
Katie, I love you so much. Your disgust at the soap and then playing the circus-y music behind it made me laugh so hard, I was crying!
I hear that you are not too happy with this batch. I am very happy that you have a plan to send it to an organization if you remain unsatisfied. You are an amazing artist! Including the times you have messed up, there is *always* a bright side. You're doing a great job ❤️

Some minor tweaks in saturation and it would be perfect for an ocean themed collection!
Im so happy to see this😍 as a hardcore swiftie since Debut, this collection is perfectttt
I loved how this turned out and that you share this with us! You rock!
That colour combo would be PERFECT for a 'My Hip Aunt's 1982 Livingroom' collection! Hahhaha!
Gotta love those morphs.
Oh Katie your reactions are the best. 😂 it reminds me of when you did the fragrance oil test video and you had that beautiful blue mica soap that turned completely gray and tan. 😂 chemical reactions are just wacky!

Omg I can't tell you how happy i am, i live in the uk and i managed to get a soap from you! So excited love your videos so much 💗
Just got mine today and this soap smells like HAPPINESS!!! It's amazing!!! 10/10
Thanks for always being real and showing when things dont work out. You are my hero
Actually, I didn't think the first batch was so bad. The color pallet reminded me of rainbow sherbet.
The final result is just so perfect! And that sparkling peachy scent? *Chef's kiss!*
After watching this video for the first time as I was falling asleep that night I thought to myself "in my 'measuring the diameter of the planet with a stick and a shadow' Era[tosthenes]" and woke myself up laughing.
If I had a life I couldn't crack myself up with history references like this, so there's that. 😅😂😂
These colors have me wanting the Mothers frosted animal cookies in the mythical shapes ❤
Mix the pink and the purple mica to stamp with!!!! I love those bars!.
It looks like when you're pouring the colors align with all the McDonald's mascots blended into one😂
I can't wait for my soaps to get to me! I ordered In My Era and Teardrops, as well as candy trails because it's about that season! Had a batch flop today and could cry. I need a more Royal response to my own failures / disappointments 😂❤
Oh but so gorgeous in the end
"desaturated 90's taco bell" was 100% accurate and it also unlocked forgotten memories 👏
Already sold out! I love the birthday cake one the best! Beautiful!! I hope things are going better for you! Take time to rest and enjoy your time! This soap reminded me of lucky charms milk while you were pouring!
I gotta blank space, baby! 🤌🏼
Katie: This is pastel soap!
The soap: 🖤🩶🤎😈
I kinda liked both soaps, but the heavier purple on the 2nd one, was really pretty!
I was just thinking this first soap is somehow a liminal space - and then you showed empty 90's taco bell!!! You get it!!! I kind of love it!!!???
I kind of liked the lavender grey. With the right colours it could work
I liked the first one a lot! Yes, the second one made more sense, but I liked them both!!!
omg i love this soap so much!! the color combination reminds me of my oldest childhood memory
I'm in my nail polish obsessed era. 😅 Orly, ILNP and Holo Taco have a LOT to answer for! Just taken some pictures of my new soaps nestled into my box of nail polishes for the 'gram. (I hate taking selfies.)
the color combination on this soap is gorgeous.
Very excited for this collection! I was napping and slept through launch so I didn’t get the bundle but I still bought all 5 soaps!
makes me think of that period in the 80s where it was the desaturated pastels.
The first soap is so spacey and futuristic!! I loved both soaps!!
Katie at the end with glitter all over her face is such a vibe
Girl I would've trashed that batch and started over. That soap was a total mood.
I would just like to add that you could also donate your soap to your local homeless shelters and foster care help groups so kids have their own bars of soap to take with them to foster homes. Eco Soap Bank is awesome, but they cook down the soap and combine with others to make entirely new soap. It looks like an ice cream we used to have it the UK called a Zap and let me tell you! I wanted to eat that soap!!! ❤️
Oh my. I needed a laugh today. “Truly Revolting.. “😂
I LOL so hard when the soap morphed and the music went slow mo. And the taco bell reference had me wheezing! 🤣 Even when you think you fail, you win. Always share these moments and laugh in the face of adversity. ❤ Much love!
Opalite is my absolute FAVOURITE stone!!!
No swifties in this house, but my daughter and I love to watch your videos and she (5yo) gets so excited when you do stamps in the soap.
I love the final results Katie but after reading a few comments I also agree nd kinda like this first one as well
I think the purple turned gray because you got some yellow and "hotdog" in there. Opposites on the color wheel creates desaturated colors. I actually really liked that soap as well but I'm happy you reached a result you wanted in the end! It looked a lot more intentional for sure
The "ugly" version looked EXACTLY like a streets rainbow paddlepop ice cream
Maybe it was just me, maybe the angle I was watching on my phone, but the purple in the first one was showing through as you poured.
Simply the swirls in the first one. Those were some gorgeous swirls, like to me the best swirl ive seen in some time.
im in my new wave music era, since a friend bought me a new wave albumn for my birthday last month, you should see me rocking it at the bus stop
I honestly really liked the color combo
I actually really like the first soap. Just for a different theme. Remindes me of some of my grandmas curtains haha
Katie, you’re such a hoot 🦉!! Beautiful soap collection!
This soap turned out really pretty and the stamp was a really cool idea!
Hey! You have the summer sugar scrub in coconut back!! Yay!!
What a bright spot these videos are.
The first color reminded me of the milk in the bottom of the bowl of Lucky Charms! 😂😂😂
I tried to pause the video and read it but it does say on the agave bloom that it discolors. Still informative though on what that type of discoloration can look like with certain colors
I'm in my 'allergic to coconut and, therefore, can't get your soaps' era. 😭😭😭
I think this one actually ended up being my favorite design!
I'm glad it turned out!
I really liked the colors. They remind of a carnival tent and fun if it had a color.
What a save! It looks amazing
My hubby suggested you could call it 'angrenous abscess' 🤣🤣🤣
Gorgeous! Love this soap x
Why do I love the gray toned colors 😅
after so many years of soap making, I'd think you'd go with "trust the process"
I dont think the meme „this is what I wanted, this is the pastels.. and this is what I got“ ever fit better 😂😂😂
