Katie didn't you teach you husband, your brothers, and your staff how to make soap? If you taught them, and they make the gorgeous soaps you sell, of course you're good enough to teach us! I think the value in you teaching us, is YOU. Because we love YOU. Hope that helps.

I'm so sorry I accidentally hit dislike on this. I don't know if you saw the notification of it getting a dislike but then I fixed it. I meant to click like and my finger slipped. 😂 My cat is right next to me and she's known for headbutting my hand that is holding my phone but that is not what happened. She's actually just laying there.

    Opinions!
    1) Like some others have said, either lighten the "main" yellow color so the poured yellow is more distinct against it, OR change the poured yellow to a green for a more "plant" feel.
    2) Wallpaper. Depends on what vibe you want. The first paper with the big botanical print is better if you want the walls to be their own statement and room accessory. The middle paper with the subtle pattern is better if you want to put a lot of accessories in the room and on the walls - it won't compete. The third paper - I'm just not a fan of. Sorry.

I 100% agree with you. Being as unbiased as possible on the last one though, it would be somewhere in the middle. You could get away with hanging 1-2 small/medium, cool neutral items but getting them to line up right with the studs AND wallpaper would just be a pain.

Honestly, I feel proud that I became a soap maker. I have eczema, like you, and mine is triggered by cheep fragrance. So everyone who manufactures on a large scale, including lush, isn't an option. I needed to control what was in my soaps so I had to make my soap. I had absolutely no idea where to start; because how do you do research when you don't know what to ask. Then you came in and you where an absolute god send. When you made the academy, I cant tell you how much you saved me, my skin, and my sanity. You made it inexpensive and extremely easy, and every document you've attached, every website you've pointed out, and every product you buy you tell us where its from; has been extremely helpful and that has made all the difference in every bar I make and use. So I hope with every fiber of my being that you don't doubt any video you make will be not be useful, because they have been and I'm sure they will continue to be.

I used your videos to put together a big tote with the Royal academy checklist for mothers day after it came out and we loved it. We’ve made several batches since and have just been waiting to have a full weekend together to make more. You added a whole shared hobby to our relationship and I can’t thank you enough. Katie's been making soap for ten years, runs a whole business, and has taught her family/employees the way to make soap. What seals the trust factor most for me though, is how adamant she is about safety.

With the soap definitely add a little more white to the yellow and add a lavender drizzle, it might not need the glitter. The lavender bits could also be concentrated on the top (middle) of the loaf.

It is actually helpful to have the option of multiple people giving tutorials on the same subject. You will explain it in your own way, which is bound to click with some people’s learning styles, even people who had trouble really understanding the other tutorials! And for a craft like this where there is some investment and caustic substance involved, I would want to watch as many tutorials as I can to get a well rounded understanding from multiple perspectives. You absolutely have lots to offer the soaping tutorial space, Katie! Go for it!

Hey! I haven't watched your tutorials on soap making but I wanted to encourage you to make more. There's always always going to be room for more informational content. You have many years of experience under your belt and, speaking from an artist's perspective, it's extremely valuable and helpful to hear different people share information about their craft. You might share a little detail or nugget of information that sticks with another soap maker indefinitely! Also, if you're worried about repeating yourself or putting out information that already exists, repetition isn't a bad thing in education. That information is there for those who seek it out BUT you might have an explanation that resonates better or a perspective someone hasn't explored yet. Please do it! Thanks!

My two cents. I'm not a soap artist, but I do work with color as a crocheter/knitter and amateur (extremely amateur) watercolor artist: I would lighten up the main yellow just a bit-think the inside color of a lemon; keep the lavender and the inner yellow the same and add a lavender drizzle to tie together. I think that would give more a feel of Lemon-lavender that you're looking for. As for tutorials: I am not looking to start a new craft right now, but I have watched the tutorials you have done, and they are wonderful. You explain everything so well. I've watched other creators' tutorials, and they may give the "technical terms" and such, but you are so much more relatable. Do what you feel comfortable doing. Finally, I love the wallpaper on the far left. :)

I love the neutral acorns floral. It leaves you more space visually for pictures, mirrors... kid art? :D You should make teaching videos that are just what you do and just what you know. Some of us prefer you and the way you do things. It doesn't really matter if EVERYONE loves them... not everyone buys your soaps or likes your videos. I know that for me I'm a basic and totally newb at soaping and making lotions and balms. I can ONLY tell the difference in lotion which oils I used. Some are frankly more oily. In soap I agree with you, I like milk soaps for shaving, so does my boyfriend (so legs AND face) and otherwise I've had some really expensive stuff and honestly didn't like it as well as the $10 bar of milk soap from my local swap meet. LOL Teach us with what YOU do. What's the overused phrase? You do YOU boo? xoxo

I'm a little late, but you should use the neutral tan one, but for every two or three strips if the neutral you put one strip of the flowery one. Or put one strip of the flowery one in the middle of each wall, and surround it with the neutral. Or put a natural one in the middle so the flowery one is offset by one width (make it the same on each wall.)
The flowery one is too dated. There natural one is too bland. But together they would POP!
The postcard one is just too choppy for a large individual space like a dining room. It would be distracting to sit in a room with all that. However, the postcard one would be great if you have a painted room and one wall is shorter than the others so that paper would be an accent.

Katie, other soap makers, to me, don’t go into detail about soap making like you do. I learned how to make soap from you. I watched your videos for about 2 years before I tried it. Now I am trying to master soap frosting from you.

Darling, you are a very helpful instructor! I'm preparing to launch my cosmetics business and it's all because of you and brambleberry! My husband and I love watching all of your videos. You have a unique perspective and a kind and caring voice that your audience resonates with. Keep making videos, in whatever form moves you! And don't change a thing with the lavender lemonade! (Ok, maybe a little purple drizzle on top wouldn't hurt!) Thank you for all that you do to encourage other makers! We love you Katie!

I'm 100 percent positive that the tutorials you provide would bring value to your channel and business! People would watch it just because it's YOU who made it. Plus you have a vast knowledge of what not to do in keeping us safe while making the soap where as the others may not include that in their tutorials. I'd love to see how to measure the oils because I really don't understand 30% of whatever amounts to in measurements.

I love the look of this soap! The swirl in the middle is my favorite. I think it would be pretty to have the main color as a more cream white with the yellow and purple swirled in and leave it simple with just the lavender buds on top.

I like the first wall paper choice. And your soap is lovely, as always! And as far as teaching goes, I'd love to learn from you. The first wallpaper is the best!!! It totally fits your vibe. I wouldn't change the greenness of the yellow but I would make it lighter and add more darker yellow. Purple drizzle on top would look cute

  • @CassJB
    @CassJB ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think the only thing you should change with the soap is more swirls. You could accomplish this by adding a softer yellow swirl, or keeping all the yellow vibrant and adding an additional purple swirl. Maybe a lighter lavender or lilac swirl. Cause I really liked the vibrant yellow but felt like the ratio was off.
I bet it smells fantastic 😍

    1. Yes, more tutorials-because we love your personality; 2. Yes, include a ''Washing up the Dishes'' tut-I haven't come across one previously and am concerned how to neutralize the lye container; 3. Lighten up the base yellow color to look closer to real lemonade, the more intense yellow reminds me of lemon slices; 4. The middle wall paper, this allows you to change up the color scheme in the room w/o clashing with the paper. Thank you for today's video, I needed it.

My 15 year old daughter loves watching all of your videos. We watch most of them together. With your 10 plus years of experience you have a lot of knowledge to share. You explain things clearly and encourage people to want to do things the right (safe) way, but are also encouraging and positive in general which is super important when someone is learning something brand new. And you have a great audience here that know you, knows your soap and we want to follow you on making soap because we like you and your soap. I don't know anyone else in the soap-making youtube-verse, I know you and I trust you and I want to follow you - that's it. Think about what key things you would have liked to have learned while you were just starting, that you would have liked to tech us now. So my example is I have been trying to learn to knit since I was 16- so over 22 years now. I tried in so many different ways, in person, online, different levels and different teachers. And now that I can knit! Woohoo. I tell people- if the way one teacher doesn't click with you, it doesn't mean you can't knit, it means to try another teacher. And another. And another. Until you find just the right one where their words and teaching style just clicks with you. Nothing can't be learned if you find the right teacher, and that's why too many teachers teaching the same thing is ok! You've taught me so much!

First I’m in the too cold area of ND, so no lavender here let alone spring temps!
For sure you should teach! Everyone has a personality & not all of us enjoy every person out there making soap, teaching techniques. Many many many ppl love you & your journey. We all can learn how to make a drizzle, make TD, how to make embeds, how to use additives in soap, it can be anything. Ppl want to know/learn through you!❤
As for wallpaper, I say middle. My logic, it goes with anything. If I picked one of the other two, I’d be afraid I’d get tired of the print. Thank you, for all you do! I appreciate you! ❤

I think when people ask for a tutorial, and granted there are thousands of other videos and channels that show the exact same thing, but when people ask someone specific for a tutorial it’s because they want to see that specific person. We want to see the exact way that you do things, which even though there is some sort of same basic way on how to do something, every single person does it differently, and that’s the beauty of it! And we just wanna see yours, you’re talented, creative, and you know what you’re doing!

Oh! I like the 1st wallpaper option. Umm, maybe lightening up the main yellow just a bit more with the purple drizzle on top? i like the sprout wallpaper the most, the other two are awesome as well but the middle acorn one feels very busy so def needs something breaking it up like that mirror. but even then i'm not sure i'd want it on too big of a wall. a lil accent one maybe.
The postcard one is also cute but more.... "rigid" botanical since postcards.
guess that's why i prefer the sprout wallpaper, can imagine it on large surfaces without feeling busy and i like the free flowy botanical design over the postcard one.

About the teaching thing; other people may have taught some soap making skills before, but you have a real gift for being really clear in instructions while also being super approachable. I'd much rather learn from you!
On the soap itself: I think the groovy vibe of the swirls inside clash with the demure lavender flowers on top. Perhaps a little purple swirl added to the soap frosting or a purple drizzle, and a cute lil lemon soap embed on top would look better?

I was literally thinking yesterday that I wanted more Royal Creative Academy videos, and wondering if I should comment about it on your next video. So, I guess this means I should... I watch all the other soap tutorial channels, too, but just because they're doing a good job doesn't mean that there's no space for you to join in, too. Everyone brings a different perspective on it. I say the more content for beginning soapers, the better.

First of all you really can't go wrong with what you do with the yellow. I think personally, I'd like for it to be a little softer. Oh gosh the choices on the wallpaper! They're all gorgeous. I'm leaning toward the first one but I'd love any of them. Now the important stuff about you teaching and feeling redundant. I don't think I'll ever make soap but I'd rather learn from you than to go to other sources. Of course you're good enough to teach others! I trust you and the way you get the information across. You put it in a way that's easily understandable and it never feels like you are talking down to us.

I think the soap could totally do well with a purple drizzle! I like the pale cream color of the frosting but something to help tie the purple in better would be cute. Lightening the main yellow or making the poured yellow a dusty green could be good too, it does feel a bit Too Yellow.
Also I think the 1st wallpaper is super duper cute and even though I don't have the space to make soap, I'd still love to watch soap tutorial vids! It's always good to have more knowledge of skills and I love the way you present things in such an easy to understand and colloquial manner

On the wallpaper, option 1 is my favorite for sure.
