- In this video I give an introduction into layers and layer masks in photoshop for landscape photography. Layer masks are the core of what make photoshop so powerful, and I try to scratch the tip of the iceberg in this video.

Some are great photographers, others great teachers, you are without a doubt both. I love how you made this subject so easily understandable to the non technically inclined. I'm amazed how much you can bring a photo to life by making all these selective adjustments, great video Nick.

Nick, yesterday I attempted my 1st ever post processing in photoshop trying to use layers, taking cues from your video clip and trust me I was over the moon that finally I could use them successfully & process my image. Though they were not the best image I ever tried to process, but frankly using these tools which I tried to learn since last few years & could not was made so simple in your video that I finally attempted a go. Thanks Nick, I started with PS Elements, then went to Lightroom, but always used PS for some things. I now have the subscription package and having fun getting to grips with Layers again. As others have said, nice clear practical explanations, which are often lost in books that try to convey too much all at once. I am not keen on too much processing BUT I can now see how some of my images would benefit from a few additional nips and tucks using layers.

Loving this series of tutorials! I've always been a Lightroom only user but slowly started to use the local adjustments. I recently decided I wanted to try luminosity masks and learn more about photoshop, so these tutorials came at the perfect time. I really like the way you teach and it's great that you repeat shortcuts, it's the only way we are actually going to memorize them 😁

great job! much appreciated! i'm just getting into layer masks and most of the tutorials I have found seem to be "too much" or "not enough", often not specifying... clearly.... things like, "this is the icon you have to click on to generate a layer mask". with photoshop, I often get the feeling like I have to know how to do everything before I am able to do anything. this video removes that hurdle by answering the all important, "here's what you need to know to get started... and actually be able to do something" question. nicely balanced! thanks!

Just got photoshop. Ive been using Lightroom classic 6.14 for years and love the workflow. But, once I installed photoshop I was dumbfounded on its complexity, after this video, im hooked on these videos. I feel like im taking an editing course in college but 1 on 1. Well done. This dudes a fantastic teacher.
