We were in Victoria back in 2016 and loved it. Spent a week exploring and enjoying all the sights. Went to Butchart gardens and had the high tea, delicious. The most beautiful gardens in the world, spent the entire day there. We also went to the butterfly farm, which was different. I would have loved a tour up north but we didn’t have a car. Loved the harbour, waterfront area. We visited the museum as well, so interesting. Loved your video, one of my most favourite places in the world.
Thanks Cheryle! So great to hear about your experience. I wish we had a few more days there to explore more. Do you have plans to revisit anytime soon?
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos I would love to come back to Canada but I am currently raising three grandchildren so I have to wait until I can get passports for them. Because they’re in the foster care system I have been fighting to get passports for them for four years and still not any luck. My granddaughter will be 18 in another year so she will be able to get her own and come with me.
Awesome video! The gardens are spectacular and downtown Victoria is beautiful. Vancouver Island is on my bucket list of places to visit. Thanks for letting us enjoy the trip with you. :-)
Thank you very much Yoli! I think Victoria is one of the most charming cities you can visit in Canada. It is not overwhelmingly big but yet has a lot to offer. Hope you can visit soon.

I have just started watching your videos. They are wonderful. I loved it when you went up to Mountain Washington. It's a good thing you didn't get stuck for very long.
@@samuelandaudrey Thank you for all the video content you put out. It is great. I am headed to Victoria on June 28. I used to live there. Maybe I'll see a black bear.
Seeing a cougar in downtown Victoria is not that unrealistic. There have been a few of them removed over the years. One was carried out of the parking garage of the Empress Hotel in handcuffs. Sedated of course. Ask the staff at the Empress about it on your next visit. I recall other cougars killed in James Bay.
Ah, that is true. Even in the small town I grew up in they did come into town although I never saw one in person even after 18 years of living on the island.

You did a nice job showing Victoria downtown, I was born here and now live 5 min away from the Empress and a 2 min walk from the water. My dad actually was born here in 1912 and was on one of our 2 police forces when there were only 5 officers on the whole force! He was a wonderful man. Hope you had a great time. Happy New Year, wishing you a wonderful year coming up!
How pretty the Gardens! AND, your afternoon tea looks traditional. Perhaps it's something that the English settlers who arrived in Canada brought with them there?

Accurate description. Mount Washington cool. Late 80’s, 90’s the Canadian airforce base at Comox. Many times those pilots were just above the mountain. You could see the pilots wave at you, if you were top of ski lift. Victoria changed considerably since 90’s. Too many people. The island has no industry other than tourism and government and a university, couple colleges. One time long ago, island had fishing, mining, and logging. Most of that is gone.
Thanks Imtada! It sure has changed. I grew up in Gold River in the 80s and 90s and my Dad was a forester. Indeed, things sure have changed and we noticed it considerably busier now than in the past. My favorite part of the island is up north. You have the ruggedness without the population. Also, the only affordable real-estate at least from what we could see. Overall though, I really appreciated having a chance to come back. I haven't lived on the island since 99, so it meant a lot to revisit home again.

@@samuelandaudrey From what city? I'm just wondering if you are aware you can visit Victoria in winter. There's a good chance it's milder than your home city? Where is that?
@@samuelandaudrey Some people think Victoria's all snow-and-blizzard in winter when, in fact, it is pretty much a snow-free climate. @@samuelandaudrey Never mind. How boring. You guys are Canadian (one of you from BC, I think?). You know all about the mild winter weather in Victoria!
You were saying locals like to go a little over the speed limit......I think that is funny as I regularly see people go WAY over the speed limit. Thay post the largest speeds fines in the area. regular speeding tickets catch people going well over 100 in an 80 zone. The highest was a young teen who had just been given a present from his dad. A car that can go over 200 easy. What does he do? goes 240 in the 80 zone. Police took his car, took his license and fined his dad for letting him drive this very expensive car.
