There’s only a 3-4 year age gap, in the manga the reason Burma threw him out of the bathroom is because they were close in age and she thought he was being a pervert
In regards to Bulma's lines hinting at Goku's intergalactic origins, I believe the English dub for Dragonball was done * after * Dragonball Z's English dub, so the dubbing company already knew Goku was an alien, and mentioned it as a little in-joke. I dont recall any such dialogue existing in the Dragonball Manga.
You’re right. Though, Oolong does make a joke if Goku was an alien early on in the manga. Of course, it’s unlikely Toriyama meant that seriously. I don’t he probably thought about Goku being an alien until atleast the King Piccolo arc. Definitely, by the time he faces Piccolo Jr.

OG Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are just titled "Dragon Ball" for the manga. Raditz appears in Chapter 195 of Dragon Ball) The first full Dub of Dragon Ball (this one) was made after the DBZ Dub (started... might have finished it too. Not sure)
Early early Dragon Ball is particularly goofy and kiddish. It gets more serious with more fighting Dynocap is just another name for capsules. Also Hoi-poi capsules Bulma’s “Not from earth” line is original to the funimation dub. Toriyama came up with the concept during the King Piccolo saga

13:30 - 14:48 - 17:10 Most of those dialogues and weird jokes are from the dub so don't pay much attention to what they may imply. The original is much weirder, if I remember correctly Goku keeps bothering Bulma about her not having a peepee saying stuff like "did your parents abandoned you cause you don't have it" lol
So, just to clarify everyone's ages, Goku starts out at 12 years old (he says he's 14 at one point, but that's because he thinks that 14 comes after 11 until Master Roshi teaches him how to count properly), and Bulma is 16. Doesn't make the scene where Bulma tried to seduce Goku that much better, but at least he wasn't like an 8 year old.

Bulma tells him that they are female breasts. -Goku says that all men have tails. Bulma thinks that since she hasn't had relationships with boys it really is like that. -Then Goku rectifies and says that his grandfather had no tail. Bulma says that he's the weird one, and that's why his parents abandoned him. Goku laughs at Bulma and says that she was abandoned for having that weird ass in front of her (breasts). -Goku explains to Bulma that when he slept with his grandfather he let him rest his head on his groins because he acted as a pillow, the same thing he proposes to a Bulma, who flatly refuses. -Goku in the morning tries to try sleeping on top of Bulma and sees that something strange happens (there are no balls! I feel like most of the personality of goku here is totally different when you watch the dubbed. In one he's just a innocent and pure kid living in the mountains who makes light jokes and in english for some reason they made it edgy making jokes and being sarcastic all the time
Funfact, I knew about the middle of dragon ball z first, then I was introduced to dragon ball, then I rewatched Z, then I saw GT, then I saw the movies and THEN i saw dbs. I love them all despite their flaws and inconsistencies, a true dragon ball fan will give EVERY series a change no matter how ridiculous it looks.
I mean, some things I'm not sure if were part of the original script or made up. They probably had to spin some jokes around so they fit better both the mouth flaps and the audience. Like when they said the thing about "Goku coming from another planet", that might have been a silly joke from Toriyama or maybe from the translation group. Maybe someone that knows the original script can respond something like that. Either way, it is indeed a funny coincidence.
I'm sure that Gohan did his best to describe electricity and TV and cars and girls ect ect, but being RAISED without that stuff and only hearing about it, is different than the first time you see it in action. love this series, the world really is brand new in the eyes of Goku. Also, Goku is just one of those guys that the second you take your eyes off them, they get naked for some reason. lol
It never occured to me but in retrospective... isn't it weird how Bulma, an educated person, ist shocked about Goku's tail, when the president of the world is a literal freakin' dogperson? Well i guess it helped showing us that it is weird tho...
Gohan had a tail multiple times. They kept cutting it off until it wouldn't Grow back. Raddiz grab it at the beginning of Z. He turned Oozaru fighting Vegeta the first time cause his tail grew back. He also had one in the tree of might when they fought Turles.
So after you finish the Pilaf Saga, do you plan on reacting to that Dragon Ball Dissection TH-cam series from Mistarefusion I told you about a few months ago? That guy is REALLY underrated and he deserves to get some exposure! Reacting to each saga, and then reacting to his dissections of those sagas, would be a great way to help a smaller TH-camr out!
"Dino caps" this is what you get when you watch a 30 year old dub. They changed a bunch of stuff to try to make it more appealing to westerners. In fact dubs still do this but not as badly as they used to. They're called Hoipoi capsules originally. The dub also censors some things if I'm not mistaken. Also the dub takes a lot of liberties with jokes like when Bulma says "I don't know what planet this kid's from." I don't think that was the original dialogue and even if it was, Toriyama didn't plan that far ahead so it's just an expression. But even so, Dragon Ball was first dubbed in like 1995; the manga ended in 1995 so the story had already been around a long time and one could argue the translators were aware of where the story goes.

She was talking about Grandpa Gohan
@@neptuneblues3512 Ohhhhhh
Gohan did not 🤦♀🤦♀he's a human, not a monkey boy like Goku. did you forget that Goku's from space? 😭
I meant grandpa gohan!!
3:23 😅 😂😂 and he go even worse lol
Toriyama didn't plan for goku to be an alien yet, this is a happy accident from the funimation dub
If capsules like this existed in real life...🤌🏾🤌🏾
Bulma sure is sensitive about not having a tail
Bulma is 16 and Goku is 12.
Goku unintentionally roasts everyone.
In Dragon ball Goku was originally a strong kid with a tail and then in Dragon ball z it turns out he is an alien.
Goku when he was younger is so cute😭
This season is literally comedy😂
I feel like most of the personality of goku here is totally different when you watch the dubbed. In one he's just a innocent and pure kid living in the mountains who makes light jokes and in english for some reason they made it edgy making jokes and being sarcastic all the time
Probably for the best 😁🤣
Funimation's dubs famously mess up characterization super often for sure.
@@Green-3c34y65vrbu 4kids was fun on ygo though
He doesn't feel edgy at all to me in either version. Killua & kid Piccolo fall closer on that scale.
Love the reaction chica
I mean, some things I'm not sure if were part of the original script or made up. They probably had to spin some jokes around so they fit better both the mouth flaps and the audience.
Like when they said the thing about "Goku coming from another planet", that might have been a silly joke from Toriyama or maybe from the translation group. Maybe someone that knows the original script can respond something like that. Either way, it is indeed a funny coincidence.
If bulma find out what goku did one day she would be really mad
Toriyama didn't have the alien thing planned out back then. It was just a joke about how odd Goku is. It just happens to be accidental foreshadowing.
I dont think ive ever seen someone react to dragonball
Not many people do… but “Dayasha thirsts” reacted to it. If you wanna watched their reaction
@@Austin.Kilgore "Bulma is from the STREETS!!!"
Aimin Reacts and DeGRA both do reactions to DB the 2nd one is 2 people
AllAgesofGeek did, though only up to episode 57 on YT. The rest is on patreon
Check out Aimin Reacts. He's also a dragon ball reactor, and he's currently in the middle of the Red Ribbon Army saga!
It just hit me Goku was 14 and Bulma was 17. As in the dub he was 11, which for me was more logical
The anime added a lot more scenes of the Pilaf Gang. In the manga they only appeared at the end of the arc
I think Bulma has a sister so I could see her putting her name on here stuff to stop her sister wearing them
I dunno exactly what it is, but to this day, this is still my favorite Dragon Ball series. Maybe I just prefer classic fantasy to sci-fi, I dunno.
For reference, Goku is 12-13 and Bulma is 16.
No goku looks 5or7
Coffee has been shown to increase the myelin sheath in neurons for kids
I'm sure that Gohan did his best to describe electricity and TV and cars and girls ect ect, but being RAISED without that stuff and only hearing about it, is different than the first time you see it in action. love this series, the world really is brand new in the eyes of Goku. Also, Goku is just one of those guys that the second you take your eyes off them, they get naked for some reason. lol
Nice react!
I would like to see more
Goku was sassy as hell as a kid , whatever happened to this sass because he sure doesn't have it as an adult 😂😅
Goku still has the sass talk when fighting enemies when he gets over confident
@@rocketmanart7964 oh yeah that's true
13:15 the dub was made after z and she didnt say that in the sub
Pilaf might seem out there but there are a lot of people like him. Who are that vicious selfish and narcissistic
I meant grandpa gohan. He said “only boys have tails”. But the only person he grew up with didn’t have a tail and was a man.
My bad lol. 😅
@@Animelon the commenters on this video took "don't mess with us dragon ball fans, we can't read" to a double new level 😭
Tried to correct that, but my phone got frozen. 🤣🤣🤣
Nahhh Gohan (the half Saiyan) had a tail as a kid but lost it after the Saiyan saga
Imagine watching episode 2 of dragonball and then being told that Pilafs minion would become the love interest of bulmas son 🤣
i forgot how weird that plot point is. shes literally older than his mother.
8:30 the answer is in episode 123
Goku was 11 and bulma was 16 at the started of the show
6:35 - 6:52 Pilaf: 😡💨😳
I guarantee you will not be able to ignore the weird that is ahead of you
I don't really see why people think casual nudity is such a weird or bad thing. We all have bodies.
Don't go near children please.
@@Cloud-dt6xb If you can't see a naked person without getting sexual feelings then that's a you problem.
@@kaylzshter6153 Don't recall saying I did and if that's the first conclusion you jump too maybe you out to look in the mirror.
@@Cloud-dt6xb I'm not the one with some off the cuff BS remark telling people to not go near children. You are the one who needs some self-reflection/introspection.
Have a nice day.
@@kaylzshter6153 I did'nt tell people I told you because your first comment warranted it. It shows you don't see boundaries and would cross them.
Gohan did have a tail.. hell he even transformed into an ape vs vegeta lol
I meant grandpa gohan!!
