    3. The 40/20, you didn't even mention the extra space it created on the wings. The wings would always stay in the defensive line until the 5th tackle, adding the 40/20 made them often retreat a bit earlier to cover the 40/20 and it creates space on the wings. So we have seen more running on the last tackle than we had before the 40/20.

    Corner post change should of made the list. Hundreds of miracle tries would have been denied if it wasn't for that rule change

      Basically widened the field by nearly 5m on the goal line.

    from 5m to 10m rule change had a huge impact - made the game much more free flowing.

    Surely scoring, sets of 6 and moving the defensive line back 10 meters should be the top 3 most significant

    Golden points should only be used in finals games or state of origins or any games that require a definitive outcome.

    For me it’s the zero tackle. The nrl introduced it because the ref screwed up and allowed the sharks to score and win a playoff match with a 7 tackle try. They were coring their own asses with that rule change
    Not revolutionary, just for stupid reasons

    2 pt 40m field goal rule has had very little impact. Not worth mentioning separately from point 1. How about the 6 again rule? Giving defending teams a 20m (22m at the time) tap and later, and extra tackle foe catching the ball on the full from a kick in their own in goal? This made for much more open, creative play when attacking in the opposition red zone rather that hitting up 5 times then a bomb with worst case, a goal line drop out if the defending fullback diffused the bomb successfully (refer 1985 GF). 10 meter rule. Automatic hand over after 6 tackles I/o a scrum. The corner post no longer being “in touch”. For a time, the Gary Jack rule stopping a fullback laying down feigning injury after fielding a clearing kick so his team could jog back into position behind the ball. Another player from the fullback’s team was forced to play the ball. It was also used when trying to run the clock down in a close game. I’ not sure if this rule still exists but we really could do with it being enforced again at times today. Sorry but yo7 have shown a lack of historical league knowledge in this video.

    Golden point is frustating in a game like league where it's more possession heavy and metres are basically guaranteed because it disallows a contest over the ball. It would make far more sense for rugby though. I would personally say that extra time, 2x5 min halves makes more sense, admittedly in a game that's as cardio heavy as league, I would suggest allowing the 18th man and possibly a 19th man to come into play here.

      That’s a good point, that rule probably had some pushback from players as well.

    I want to add a rule. A team who is pinned down inside their 20. If before either 3 or 4th tackle they kick the ball 20 meters and can regather the tackle count restarts

    Love how the Nathan Cleary field goal is famous in a game they LOST.

    Good list. The 6 again rule has had a big effect on me changing my preference from Union to League. It speeds the game up even more and you want to be watching the game be played not being stopped. It's kind of like when AFL tweak the marker rule so they couldn't mover laterally and a kick could be taken by just turning your body instead of having to walk back several meters each time.
    In the Super League, moving the sport from winter to summer was big too. It gives them better weather to play and watch in (used to give them there own section of the year with no Union or Football but those seem to be 12 months now) but also allows for a global calendar. Player movement from Super League to NRL and vice versa is much easier. They can have the World Club Challenge at a time that suits both sides and I would expect Super League games to be at the Vegas round soon too.

    • @TopCrazesRL
      @TopCrazesRL  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That change impacted some situations a lot but I can’t think of a way how it really revolutionised the game, do you have some examples?

      @jonahblack23 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It essentially widened the field, and also changed the way wingers play and the type of player that played on the wing

      @@TopCrazesRL you’re a dud if you think it didn’t revolutionise the way people finished in the corners

    • @Schiltzenberger
      @Schiltzenberger 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dessyhinds78 Yeah, every weekend there'd be 7 or 8 of the top ten tries scored that wouldn't have counted before they changed the corner post rule.
      It may not have revolutionised the rule book, but it revolutionised the game as a spectacle.

    Think a tie or draw in home and away season should be draw and tie because this means a team could miss the finals or a top four by a point.
    But in a finals it should ten minutes each way because of the wind then grist score wins
