Awesome tutorial. Ive stayed away from TR REC mode but after watching this tutorial I'm really curious to use the substep mode to bring in the snare early and the hi hats a little late.
It would be cool if when you input a note in the step sequencer in TR Rec mode it gave you an option to preview the sound when you press a pad so you can hear how it sounds when you select different sub modes so you don't have to wait for the beat to circle back.
This video (and comments) will remain invaluable until navigating around my new SP404 is second-nature. Couldn't have made my first beat on this thing without y'all. Thanks!
would it be possible to copy a step to another step while in tr-rec? i've found myself often forgetting the settings of a singular sample i'v laid out and a copy option would be very useful
Great video! I’m just starting out with the SP404 MK2 and have had it for about a week. I've updated it, but the lowest my bars will go is 4. Do you have any tips? I’d like to start with 2 bars, but I can’t seem to get it below 4
I think I missed it but did you touch on the START property - Sets the timing at which the sample starts playing back. If this is set to a value other than 0%, sub steps cannot be set.?
I’m not familiar with parameter lock but there is a comment below saying it doesn’t do this so I guess not. You can change certain parameters like note length but I’m assuming parameter lock is different. 🙂
Is it possible to edit single parameters of a step after it was already placed? For me it seems like I have to delete the step and redo it with all its parameters.
@@meowlifornia thanks for clarifying this… I thought you were genuinely enquiring but you were just testing me. I’ll be sure to use it correctly in future!
Knowing what an acronym stands for often makes it easier to remember, or the doco easier to understand, assuming the acronym expands to something useful, of course! Transistor Rhythm Recording doesn't seem very useful, though. 😛
For anyone watching this and wondering how you edit an existing pattern with TR_REC mode, it's Shift + Rec with the pattern playing
Thank u
appreciate you
Thank you! I was so lost on how to do this
Thank you!
mvp comment for real
The best, literally the best tutorial on TR-REC - you have brought my SP-404Mk2 back to life, thank you!
Glad I could help! 🙂
I making songs now with my SP 404 mkii now. All thanks to you!

@@SaiaFT yeah that would be a cool feature. Who knows what the next firmware will do. 👍

Hi, is there a way to know what are the parameters of a notes i already sequenced? I.e. the velocity, pitch or offset?
Yes, look in the manual for the "Microscope" feature (I'm using the 4.05 firmware).
@@Hakucho64 thanks for your reply but i asked this before the 4.02 update. I think it wasnt possible before
@@humansrstupid8007 no worries, I wasn't being derisive, just wanted to make sure you knew it was possible without explaining it in full myself
After learning T-Rec mode;
I think my Fl Studio has been replaced 😀
was this version 1.14 or 1.15? hitting remain doesnt switch to tr rec on my mk2. it just says metro and remain does nothing to change it.
Hi this is version 3.02
I suppose this mode is able to pull of ghost kick notes quite well?
Yeah it works well as you can place them where you need them then adjust the velocity 👍
I think I missed it but did you touch on the START property - Sets the timing at which the sample starts playing back.

Is it possible to change the note parameter once the note is drawn in the sequencer ?
Something like elektron’s parameter lock.
Thanks !

You can; check out "Microscope" mode in the manual.

Im curious too
Yes, see "Microscope" mode in the manual.
This should be in the first lesson
Reespect4digging this
TR-REC means track record does it?
I assume so that’s how I’ve heard it being referred to.

Only downside of this TR Is you can't COPY notes
Yeah that would be a nice feature. Fingers crossed for the next update 🙂
