For Christmas in 93 I too was 15 and my Grandfather (RIP) bought the box set for me also! I too watched the shite out of it - still have it, the box has seen better days mind, but my copy still exists!
I have this box set. Due to my aunt's recent passing, i was able to have some of her stuff. One of the things i got was this box set. It's really special to me to be able to have some of the things that made her happy during her lifetime
Bought this the day it came out. Played it pretty much every day til my first Metallica concert on July, 31st 1994. San Diego CA.
My grandmother bought this for me as a Christmas gift when it first came out. She had no idea I was at war with this band as a Megadeth disciple. Hahaha. Love it now, of course.
I owned this box set in 94. I was in 10th grade and I watched that concert from San Diego every single night to sleep to that entire year. 💀

This is so odd. I just dug mine out of the closet a couple of days before this video posted. Although my cds were stolen many years ago, I still have the nostalgia of owning the rest of it.

They were (to my knowledge) that only band that did stuff like this back in the day. It was a thing of legend between us young'uns because it was so unaffordable but was beyond a cool idea. And they've kept that shit up the whole time. Mad respect for them.
Hi, just watched this vid. I gotta tell you I love seeing you this happy and it made me smile !!! I have similar feelings; When it came out I was like 14 years old and I never ever even dared dreaming about owning this box!!! It was my Christmas Prwsent I never had and I wished so much I had had it :) but, hey, I finally managed to get my own copy of this box a few years ago in a very nice condition and I could not believe it I am owning it haha !!! Really, I share the joy with you my friend !!!! STAY METALLICAIZED ;) 🤟
I remember that box set. I used to play those video cassettes constantly. When I used to play guitar, I learned all the songs from those shows and used to play guitar, I would put the tape in and play along with both the San Diego and Seattle concerts. I was like playing onstage with them. Awesome memories.
Still have mine. Bought it at the end of 1993. It is still one of the most best live releases in my opinion. Few years ago bought a second one. Two flightcase next to each other haha
I bought the original Metallica Binge and Purge Box Set way back in 1994. I loved it back then and I still love it to this day. I even spray painted the Scary Guy on the back of my black Leather Biker Jacket using the stencil that came with the set. I periodically pop the CD’s in and I even watch the live content on VHS. I love music box sets and I’m looking forward to the Black Album Box.
It was very expensive in South América in that time!! I use to wacht this in the shelf and say : " Yeaaaahhhh"

Worked in music retail when this came out. We had a stack of 40 of them behind the counter waiting to be picked up by customers. Of course I got one too.

I hope they pack one of the Mexico shows as vinyl in the big Black Album box, like Seattle 89 in the Justice box. Or even better, Milton Keynes 93 which is such an awesome show.
such a mythical box, they released a CD/DVD version of it that i bought a while ago and its still fantastic i get goosebumps and a lump in my throat everytime the intro of blackened starts!!!!
My brother gave me his entire cd collection, the only thing he kept was the box set. But I found one at a record show for $30. All is good now🤘

Got this for christmas also. Had the vhs. Listened non stop to seattle on out tv in the basement that had sweet speakers. Fast forward to 97bor 98 and traded it at our mom and pop record store for a bong.
This was really the start of my Metallica love. This was all I listened to of their material for so long. I wasn’t keen on the sound of their studio stuff up till this. But to then have their best songs sounding like this?? A dream.

Got this exact release. My best friend borrowed it and lost the scary man stencil - idiot!!! That Seattle gig has to be hands down the best thrash gig ever committed to video...

Christmas of 1993.. i was also 15 and all i cared about getting was this box set... we went on vacation the next summer and our dog destroyed the entire box set except for 1 vhs tape and the cds...the pain was real.
I had box set in 1995 bought at a musicland. I still have the cds but lost the VHS tapes

I’ve been looking for one in good shape and for a good price on eBay for over a year, until last week. I found one in decent shape, missing 1 cd and the sticker, but here’s the best part. It was only a dollar. Yea it was missing a cd and the sticker and it wasn’t in perfect condition, but for a flipping dollar. HELL YEA.
I know the feeling, about 5 years ago I came up on the Metal box version of Slayer’s decade of aggression boxset and I snatched it up quick. I’ll post it in your fb group tomorrow.

Yeah I still remember that box when it came out...a friend of mine told me take the cassettes.... I just want the videos and cds.....and I got like shittt dude thanx xx a lot!!!!! And I heard it for a two months!!!!!
I bought this twice since the first one got worn out, and then bought the DVD version too. An epic boxset at the time and still think Seattle and San Diego are two of their best live shows that have been released on video. Epic solos, two drum kits and fast & loud!

Best part of this set is the book. The DVD version only has a digital slideshow of the pictures.

This was one of my favorites. Pretty sure I got it for Christmas that year. Mine got stolen from my dorm room unfortunately. I picked up the reissue with the DVD's instead of VHS.

the only thing that i was disapointed by was the lack of faster songs there was no FIGHT FIRE or DAMAGE INC or DYERS EVE no RIDE THE LIGHTNING no HIT THE LIGHTS and then 20 years later metallica released the other live in mexico boxset and that was worth buying the tracklist blew LIVE SHIT out of the water

Best live footage of them when they were great. Miss Jason. And the sound quality isn’t the best, wish they would remaster this. But hands down best live shows captured on video.
I would like to own it one day, I would imagine if they were to release it again it would be on DVD.

Still have mine. Although nowadays if I want to watch it, I go to the dvd version even though I still have a working V.C.R.. Seattle's Fade To Black is hands down Kirk's shining moment.
I remember buying this monstrosity back in the day, I've currently got the DVD version, my box from the old version disintegrated over the years and my vhs copy is LONG gone at this point.

Man I remember saving my ass off to buy this in 1998. It’s still in my parents house, but, it’s pretty beat to shit I have to admit, but it’s all still there. Metallica are by far the most generous band of all time with regards to what they give the fans.
