adore watching your garden content! i've recently moved house which has a garden and i'm having so much fun with my new veg beds! its so satisfying watching everything grow. I’m a keen veg grower in my cottage garden so loving your plans for the year! Just a little tip - my favourite squash is also crown prince- I now collect some of the seeds as we eat them & they grow perfectly the following year. The squash store so well in the garage too - roasted one last night that I picked in the autumn. Thank you for sharing your lovely ideas ❤️
You should really look into companion planting. Certain flowers and produce grow amazingly when planted together. I did this several times when I had my allotment and the difference in produce was really quite amazing. Also an added bonus is certain flowers work again certain pests that may effect you vegetables etc. For example rosemary repel carrot fly and marigolds are amazing for most vegetable and I think it’s pests of tomatoes that they are really good at repelling.
I am 74 and I use pin curls every night, but I use long bobby pins they work so much better than those tongs ,they pull your hair and they kind of hurt those silver ones your hair will fall a little bit during the day but I think there's times that you would really like it when you don't want to use heat on your hair! Know what you mean about kitchen gardens becoming surprisingly expensive Lydia. Growing boogíe organic herbs and leafy greens somehow for triple the price they’d cost at our local organic green grocer has become my super power.
I’m learning more about traditional farm/estate fowl (birds), they are so useful… I did not know that pheasants, turkeys & quail are being used in the states in an attempt to control our explosive tick population. They also eat beetles, caterpillars, grasshoppers and all manner of bugs that eat garden plants! Or that runner ducks, aside from being hilarious, eat slugs that absolutely destroy gardens. Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating.
I LOVE MY CHICKENS! This is the third time having them. They aren't cost effective because of feed and care but they're my girls, I love them and really enjoy their beautiful and delicious eggs. I say you go for it Lydia - they will add so much to your english countryside style.

I grew the double Dutch cosmos last year they were amazing, huge and all the flowers were slightly different!! I did however plant them too close together so deadheading in the cosmos jungle was a challenge!
I was inspired to get to the garden centre early this year. I collected all the beautiful herbs for the year and managed despite, the weather to get everything potted into lovely terracotta pots. So thank you for that as it definitely was needed ☺️🌿🪴

Lydia - I own an air wrap since it first came out. It is hands down the best tool I ever bought. I would run out to replace it, if it broke.. my hair is rather straight and very thick and I get the loveliest curls..

Oh Lydia, you MUST get some chickens! We started in 2018 with some rescue hens (which is a nice thing to do but in my experience they die of some terrible diseases, the poor girls). Now we have a wild mixture of non hybrids and a cockerel and I absolutely adore them. Nothing better than fresh eggs and you know what the birds have been fed with. Honestly nothing better!
Yes get the Dyson AirWrap! You’ll get those soft beautiful curls and cut down on blow drying your hair. At first I was so hesitant but my daughter got one and I used it. Omg Loved it so much! You won’t be disappointed.
I'm not that familiar with starting flowers from seeds,but some of them have to have a cold period before planting them. If you don't have enough time outside you can put them in the freezer. Check the package.
Chicken 🐔 are the best thing ever, we have only got two at the moment because of bird flu but once the summer is here hopefully we will get some more, keep on at Ali about getting them they are the most restful things we can pick ours up and they chat away to us take care and keep safe
Speaking of baristas, my youngest son, the barista, will be in the UK at the end of February. I can volunteer him to give you a few lessons! Seriously though, there will be a barista course somewhere near you. You could probably goole it. My garden has not been very productive this year. I'm still on crutches (since July), so basically missed the whole summer planting time. Hopefully I can grow some broccoli over winter. Can't wait t see your garden come summer.
I've been trying to work out what keeps bringing me back to your blog time and again. Yes, I love seeing the Amazon finds and I really enjoy listening to your thoughts and you are always looking for the good but I realised what it really was when you looking at the chickens. It is that you love life - all of it from the seed up and not only that but you work with it. I know you didn't build the beds yourself and put in the irrigation, etc but you nurture it, grow the food, cook it (nice quality food). You are involved in life in a way that many of us aren't (for a number of very good reasons). By extension to that you take care of your bodies, etc. So much matters to you. I actually am a lousy gardener - can't even water plants properly and as for feeding them - somehow it is too over my head.
I love it all!!! I love that you wouldn’t mind your hair to be shorter… all the girls here in the US (not all) but a lot have the crazy long extensions in and they all look the same. Such a fad and not lovely like your style is. Also when you take your pin curls out bend over and hang your head down and take the hair dryer on low to the curls a bit and that will relax them. Oh it's not neurotic to write the dates!!! It's actually very important as far as gardening is concerned. It's good to determine if there's something going on as to why the seeds aren't sprouting, etc. Also you can note important weather conditions that might happen that can impact growing. It's actually good gardening practice to note planting dates :)

Lydia you mentioned how getting hairspray on your scalp irritates it, and then put those new pajamas on straight out of the packaging. Just wondering if wearing unwashed new clothing bothers your skin? I always have to wash everything before wearing it or I end up with a rash in my armpits, around my neckline and around the waistband. My skin is very sensitive to certain things and not to others, so I wondered if you have the same issues? ❤

I love my Dyson air wrap. There is definitely a learning curb to it but it is so good for your hair. You will see a difference with less heat. Dyson products are the best. I have the original dryer and flat iron. They are an investment but wonderful.
I don't understand why you couldn't plant the bulbs. you can plant them from September onwards. well before you had filled your greenhouse. In fact. December is really on the extremely late side???

“The three sisters” corn, beans, pumpkins are one combination (it’s a method of staking them together, configuring the planting, etc.).
The marigolds also help with pest (insect) control.

I always have to wash everything before wearing it or I end up with a rash in my armpits, around my neckline and around the waistband. My skin is very sensitive to certain things and not to others, so I wondered if you have the same issues? ❤

Hi Lydia, I'm not sure if you know about this. Have ever wrapped your hair after pin curling? It will give a volumized and beveled look - the second day is the best👌🏾

I don’t recommend the dyson so thicker hair types. The new shark styler is amazing. I have very curly hair and can get a really smooth blow fry that I could not get no matter what I did with the Dyson
Alana Noelle has made some great videos using the air wrap, it takes a bit of trial and error to see what works for your hair type.

I have been following you for several years now! My husband gave me the Dyson for xmas. I love drying my long hair with the Dyson, but after curling my hair with the air wrap, my hair doesn't even last 5 minutes curled! I do love drying my hair with it, but not to curl my hair.

I think it's a lip blushing service: so not for moisture, it adds color.

The shark is meant to be so much better than the dyson! If you watch some comparisons between the two the results are sooo different 😃☺️
I love my Dyson air wrap. There is definitely a learning curb to it but it is so good for your hair. You will see a difference with less heat. Dyson products are the best. I have the original dryer and flat iron. They are an investment but wonderful.
