    Hi Jason, I have just found your channel and love it. I'm not a locksmith but find it fascinating. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make the videos, people like me really enjoy watching them. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺👍.

    Buying a can of Houdini from Jason: $10. Buying a can of Houdini *for* Jason when he has to clean out graphite: $75.

    Thank you for making this video! My 1988 4runner has a nonstart issue which led me here after a lot of other work not fixing the problem. I'm thinking ignition and starter solenoid contacts need cleaning, but I also can tell you that my key slips right out from the start position and I definitely need a new set of keys. Wish I had your setup and I'd make my own! I've not been able to locate anyone near me who will cut new keys. Do you happen to do long distance business?

    Hi jason,thanks for taking the time to do this video.
    Another reason to prove graphite is not that good. Have you still got the graphite in the box from the lube off ? As seen in the lock straw, video.

      Pete Woodfine yes, it will come in handy one day for video dramatic effects :)

      @@selock so your going to need a new white tshirt. I doubt the last one will be classed as white ever again. Especially with all the graphite it had on it. About half a ton I think.

    I hate when people put graphite in a lock. It does more damage then good.

    Nice work, Jason. This makes me want to get one of those mini can Houdini's to put in my edc. I'm thinking maxpedition beefy. Any thoughts on those? Thanks.

    Good video but what exactly did you use to clean the lock?

    • @selock
      @selock  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Houdini Lubricant

    Thx Jason. Kinda looks like the graphite monster struck. When you cut it a bit shallow, would that not impact the doors or trunk?

    • @selock
      @selock  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gumby not on one that age, it’s only a few thousandths shallow so worst case it would be tight in passenger door (pickup, no tailgate lock on those) driver door would be worn pretty well

    So how would you resecure that pin after taking it apart? What's it for? Could you just leave it out and secure the cylinder with the clip?

    Some guy blocked me from commenting today after I said if you're going to go buy specific Lube for your lock, at least buy something good like Houdini. I think he recommended a dry ptfe lube? And I said to *never* use graphite after he recommended it highly in his vid. Not 20 seconds after I posted, he deleted it and blocked me from commenting. 🤣
    I wish I could still comment because I'd show him this vid. You should go comment on his vid, Jason. Maybe he'll listen to you.

      graphite is fine for pin tumbler locks where you can apply it to the pins with the lock disassembled.
      houdini or tri-flow or LPS-1 are all good for PT locks. Auto locks need Lok-shot. It's made by Strattec.

    • @JC-11111
      @JC-11111 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@technosasquatchfilms what would be the point? I'd rather use something that's actually good for the lock rather than graphite, even when disassembled. I see no reason to use it when there are better options out there that won't cause problems with the lock.
      What makes Lok Shot so much better for automotive ignitions specifically? How do you know its better?
