- DAVE KNOWS that Inter-promotional Double Champions in Wrestling are an awesome occurrence. Throughout wrestling history, some have been fortunate enough to win not one, but two championships, but across two different wrestling companies. Now this has happened between wrestling promotions from WWE to New Japan to WCW to the NWA to TNA. So why not give them even more attention than they have already gotten with two titles spread from two different promotions. As this is an interesting look at those fortunate enough to win two titles simultaneously cross multiple brands. However, these are just a sampling of all the double champs out there. So just bare in mind that these are just some of my favorite interpromotional double champions.
Shout out to Vader. IWGP (Japan), UWA (Mexico) & CWA (Germany) Heavyweight champion. The only top champion in major promotions from 3 continents at the same time. Vader time for real.

If only he won the WWF title then he'd have been the only man to win the top two titles in the US and Japan

I hope no-one ever attempts to match or excel the J-Crown. It is a unique moment that nobody can ever replicate with the same level of success.

I think there was an attempt. The tag team The Juicy Product (David Starr & JT Dunn) held 4 different tag titles (NYWC, CZW, WSU, & FIP). And I think there was a possibility of more but they lost all titles after a few months and then split up. Something happened for both to split up and some say both of them caused it (mostly Starr)
The Hardy’s and Austin Aries essentially tried.
Personally, I appreciate the 'Belt Collector' gimmick Austin Aries had post-WWE, and the rub it gave a lot of companies since he was wearing them all everywhere he went.

Thank you Dave for making me remember Kurt Angle holding all TNA belts, those moments bring me back to such a better time. In those moments I really looked up to Kurt Angel as the best wrestler there was. Such a nice trip down memory lane.
It's really hard to argue that there was anyone better than Kurt

One of my favorites was when Ken Patera won the WWF's Intercontinental title and the NWA's Missouri state title in the SAME WEEK in I believe August of 1980.

what titles did dan severn hold simultaneously in wwf ?
UFC Superfight Championship, UFC 5 Tournament Championship, Ultimate Ultimate 1995 Tournament Championship, NWA World Heavyweight Championship. If I remember correctly.
I knew someone was gonna bring up Severn, but I think it's obvious why I didn't include him

Giant Baba is another great example of an interpromotional double champion for me as I think it was in the 1970s or 80s that Baba beat Harley Race to win the NWA title while Baba was already the PWF world champion which was considered the top title in All Japan before the triple crown came into existence

Daniel Bryan was the ROH and FIP World Champion in 2006. Also that year, Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero were the tag champs of ROH, CZW, and Chikara at the same time.

Moxley while holding IWGP US champ and AEW world champ has become my favorite wrestler. I always liked him but he has shown WWE held him down

Someone probably mentioned all of these, but just in case: Satoshi Kojima held the Triple Crown and IWGP championships simultaneously; Keiji Mutoh held the Triple Crown title, AJPW world tag title, and IWGP tag titles simultaneously (six-crown king!); and Genichiro Tenryu (technically) held WAR's top singles belt - the J1 Championship - when he won the IWGP title from Mutoh in '99.

Well back in the day, a lot of territories had inter-promotional champs. Wrestling USED TO BE a more cooperative industry. However I think it might be going that way again

Kojima holding the IWGP and AJPW Triple Crown championships. WALTER holding the PWG title, PROGRESS title, and OTT Title. Vader holding the IWGP, the CWA, and UWA Mexico titles. I also believe both WALTER and Pete Dunne held the PROGRESS and WWE UK titles.

The Great Muta-Has been a Double & Triple Champion (On 4 or 5 separate occassions),He held the Greatest 18/Martial Arts Title (beat Choshu Riki-Title vs Title),with his IWGP,then became Tag Team/IWGP Champ,next NWA/IWGP,at the end of 2001,he held 6xBelts at Once,AJPW-Triple Crown/Tag Titles/NJPW-Tag Titles=Triple Champ,I believe he also held the AJPW-TC & NEW Japan-IWGP simultaneously too.
So 5x Double Champion!.What a Icon-Legend.
To me, Jericho and RVD don't count as they were both under the jurisdiction of WWF (Jericho)/WWE (RVD) and not two seperate promotions

I will reiterate what I said in the video, this is my list of my favorites.
I just realized how much of a pain it must have been to carry around 10 belts everywhere especially for the lighter weight champ. It's like reward crossed with a rip.

Imagine if another version of J-Crown Championship happens in Present Day, instead it's the Heavyweight Championship Belts, that'll be hilarious to see a wrestler holds the 8 Top Championship belts from 8 different companies like NWA, TNA, ROH, NJPW, AAA, AEW, AJPW, & Pro Wrestling NOAH.
Maybe semantics - but not sure I'd count Jericho and RVD because it really wasn't interpromotional. More just like different brands..

Kinda like how the Stanley cup is 125 years old even though the NHL is only 100 years old. It still keeps the lineage of the leagues that used the championship before them. They could’ve just made there own championship but they chose to use/honor the existing champs.

Me personally I think if it is more than 2 belts you aren't a Double Champion. I know its wrestling but still it makes me laugh when people just say"Chris Jericho Beat The Rock And Stone Cold In One Night"leaving out there were people jumping down from the ceiling,bombs going off,Vince hitting people with chairs,every single run in ever and a couple they had to make up to get that done. lol I get Vince not knowing A WWF title was in The J Crown. It was more his Dad's Company's title and it was back in Japan when he took over. But in 12 years,a year it was part of WCW? I still don't get the appeal of Jon Moxley... and Cody never should have beaten Aldis for the 10lbs of gold. I get why they did it, for storyline purposes. It just bugs me that Aldis' title reign was interupted because of Cody's ego
Well look at it this way, I'm sure Aldis also thought it was a good idea too. And I think it helped get the NWA some exposure when they didn't have the show yet

I think Aldis is great and Cody is overrated, so Aldis' lengthy title reign being interupted for what is IMO a vanity project for Cody just doesnt sit well with me.
