- The Getaway has arrived at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Our visit here this morning is all about one event: The Damajagua Waterfalls. Our booked excursion will have us jumping and sliding down several cascades. One of my personal all time favorite excursions! Join me!

Hi! That excursion looked like a lot of fun!! I visited Puerto Plata at the beginning of July on NCL Breakaway and I am going back in September on MSC Seashore. I will try to do a different excursion this time.
I hate jumping Raisa! But I would do it again. Recommended!

We stayed at a resort in Puerto Plata. We did the waterfalls excursion thinking it was a hike up and hike down. We told them 2 of us couldn't swim and they assured us we didn't have to worry. When we got to the top they laughed and said jump in. Luckily there was a ladder to climb down but the whole experience was terrifying. We're going on this same cruise next year and I don't even think I'll get off the ship for that port lol glad you enjoyed.
If I couldn't swim this would be EXTREME! BIG NO NO. That's why I like vlogs like these. It's recommending to some, and a warnig to others.

Some people in our group were complaining about the hike up not beeing "leisurely". And although I had no problem doing it, I agree with them too. This vlog works both as a recommendation for some and as a warning for others. My goal exactly! And in case it would kill you, you signed away any liability 🤣

Wow thx, amazing complements! Kelly, if you saw the vlogs, you will agree, "just one specialty dining" is not a thing. So why ask? 😂 It's like picking your favorite child! Cagneys and Bistro are a tie for me. So pick according to your mood, I guess. I'm super happy to hear my vlogs helped you out and I am confident you will have an amazing vacation!

Favorite ports so far have to be San Juan and St. Thomas. Going on the Getaway again this October.
We are going in oct. also. I have never been to either ports. Any recommendations?

Megan’s Bay beach in St. Thomas. It’s considered to be one of the top 10 beaches in the world for a good reason. The beach is tucked in surrounded by mountains. The sand is silky and the water is clear and calm. I love San Juan for the history. I recommend taking a tour of the city. You definitely have to visit the famous umbrella street and taste their empanadas. Hope this helps.
Another fantastic video! Thanks Bram. The excursion looked like a lot of fun, but I think the guide on the bus would have driven me crazy after the first 5 minutes 😅. If my wife and I ever visit Puerto Plata we will definitely be doing that excursion. Question: How cold/warm was the water? Thanks for continuing to make these videos. We always look forward to the next.
The temperature surprised us, it wasn't as cold as we thought. Like jumping in a pool on a hot day. Cold at first, but 3 seconds later you say "it's great!" 😂

I did yes. Most of us didn't have water shoes.
The Damajagua Waterfalls That is what we are think about doing so can you see at the bottom of the water ? Am just Scared that a snake is going to be in there LOL ...
You can't. Not really. But if there was a chance of snakes they wouldn't put cruise passengers in there, Jesica. And with all those drops the snakes would die! 🤣🤣🤣

If he's brave enough to jump, it sure is! I don't know if they had a size limit though.
Ouu is this the new port? I am going on the same cruise in a couple of weeks, and I thought they docked in Amber Cove. This changes everything. Looks so fun!
Taino Bay yes. But, I've read several times that this can change suddenly. So I wouldn't count on it.

Superb excursion Bram, we stayed at Taino Bay and I do wish we had done the tour you guys did. What was the tour cost? We are on Prima in October I think we are calling in at Dominican.
When are you going on Prima?
I believe it was 95 dollars. We were all happy we did it, would be happy to do it again ánd were happy it was over 🤣

I was to be going on the Inaugural sailing 08/17- 08/25 Amsterdam to Reykjavik but it got CX’d and my wife couldn’t switch her vacation for 2 weeks later. Got our money plus 25% off and booked a Haven for 5 of us with all perks and tips on the Getaway 20-27. With the discounts we had we paid only $263 more than the Prima. The Prima is going to be an incredible experience. Can’t wait to see the videos you create for it.
