According to me, Peace talks should have been made before the war started -- US and Europe should have called Putin for face to face talks and this war could have been averted. According to me, Peace talks should have been made before the war started -- US and Europe should have called Putin for face to face talks and this war could have been averted. Putin has been reiterating since 2008 that do not cross the line, come close to Russia. But NATO kept pushing itself up, so Putin had to attack Ukraine.
No amount of peace talks could have mollified Russia for the collapse of the Warsaw Pact. Putin made it clear that Russia had to occupy Ukraine as compensation for that loss.
