Hi Paul, it does make you wonder when you get a good finish from a £40 gun why we spend £400-£800 on our guns but I will say that a professional painter like yourself can get a good finish from almost any gun, I recon you could get a good finish spraying clearcoat through one of those pump sprayers we use for cleaner🤣🤣 I think the main difference is longevity the more expensive guns will just last forever with daily use going through the gun wash but this cheap one just wouldn't last, Interesting video mate👌👍
Yea, it does make you think lol. I like the look of the blue astro you have. And I've seen a lot if cheap Chinese guns perform really well. A pump sprayer would be funny 🤣 I agree, longevity is definitely a factor. But I guess if you don't use them every day then you don't really need to spend a fortune on them... although they are nice.
I was really surprised how good the Astro is Petes Hobbies sent me his to try a while back and I was blown away by the way it lays base and clear it's by far the best cheap gun I have used, I got one of those generic R500 with I think it was 5 setups and while it's ok it's not very good for clear. I'm one of those people that doesn't get high usage from my guns even though I normally paint everyday so I don't really need expensive guns it's just that I like them which is really a total waste of money, it's part of the hobby I guess🤔 🤷♂😂
@JohnWD40TC02 lol you get more use than me. I think that's the thing, you know exactly what you're getting from your Sata every time you pick it up. But if you're only doing once a month a cheap one will do.
Bought a couple of lvlp a while ago, not used them yet. Got a fairly small workspace so low overspray etc seemed ideal, what air pressure were you running at?. Thanks for the video.
Which one? Sagola, Walcom, or Devillbiss DV1? I haven’t used the SATA 5500, but I do have 3 Sagola 4500’s and I did prefer them over any SATA’s that I owned.
the Chinese guns are getting better some are not far off I have a R500 and a DV1 their really decent guns especially the DV1 which is good enough for 2k clears and roughly 10 times cheaper the R500 is a decent base gun but can do clears as well and only take 3.5cfm
Absolutely, I have just bought some Porphis guns from China and they are just as good as devilbiss and the build quality is excellent. I've just posted a video review of them

Thanks, 29 psi. (2bar) they are great guns to be honest. 👍

I'd have to say Walcom, my gun case I'd full of them lol. I do love a Sata tho

How would you deal with spraying a coach enamel (no clear coat)? Would this spray like any other?
Honestly I've never painted it before. But I'd do some tests before starting the project. Play around with air pressures to get the desired finish.
Hi Paul would these guns be ok to put down mipa 2K 4+1 acrylfiller?
Oh yea these guns would be ideal. 👌
What pressure are you spraying at?
2 bar (29 psi)
Is that the same pressure for base coat and clear coat?
@@GarryH833 yes mate
