    I'm in love with the looks/design of this guitar and was strongly considering buying one. You definitely raised some good points and I definitely appreciated that. Making my decision harder now. Great review Bruce-

    Love your review and especially your honesty when it comes to the shortcomings of this guitar. I was so fed up with overly excited reviews and shredding, so this has just been a fresh breath of air. Thank you!

    Great review! I really enjoyed your approach to reviewing so hope to see more of them! I own a 8 string Boden metal and I feel like the endurneck perhaps is better suited for extended range guitars. I've not had the same experience with vibratos and bends at all, perhaps because that the neck is a lot wider and my thumb still stay on the back of the guitar neck. To me the neck feels a lot more comfortable than other extended guitars I've played. I agree with your points on playing sitting in a classical position. It's a bit awkward with their current design. I've not had the problem with the tuners on my guitar being too stiff, even changing strings was pretty easy and I did not have to use any tool. Like you said, a bad example or QC perhaps but the guitar is way too expensive for it to have those flaws.

      Thanks Man. I really felt for them as a company because they were so approachable and friendly, but £2,500 is way too much for me to mess around with hoping I get a good one. I am getting really good feedback with this so I will do my other guitars/gear, including the Strandberg replacement which has surprised me more than I could have believed!

    Thanks a lot - really appreciate your mature view on ergonomics, tone, many things that others subjectively put out there. I'm currently looking at acquiring a guitar with huge sound and small footprint. I am considering the Kiesel HH2 holdsworth model, the Sainberger and the Stranberg, so it would be great to hear your thougts on the HH2. Keep it up!!!

    • @Dr.BGuitar
      @Dr.BGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. Will do. I have no direct experience of the Kiesel, but have heard nothing but good things in general. I discounted them because of the quality control issues some seemed to be reporting in 2019/20 (not an issue of itself as long as its fixed) and the apocalyptically aggressive attitude of the owner towards customers with genuine issues. I don't need that sort of stress in my life :)

    Thanks Bruce Darlington, this clarifies some questions I've had about the 'classical position'. Sounds like Strandberg could make some changes to the ergonomics. Look forward to seeing how you get on with the Kiesel, although, I suspect the bridge also sticks out of those.

    • @Dr.BGuitar
      @Dr.BGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very Welcome Vin. I am honestly blown away by the Steingerger Spirit. It ticks all of the ergonomics boxes and I could buy around 7 or 8 of them for the same price as the Strandberg! The Classical Position is great for some things (Fretting position, relaxed shoulder...) but I find it much more tricky for rock vibrato and general 'feel' (whatever that is).

      @@Dr.BGuitar Thanks, yeh I saw your video on the spirit it and see what you mean. Whilst I am extremely happy with my RG550, most of my practice time is restricted on the sofa, and I worry that in the long run it could lead to posture related pains. I've subscribed to your channel, it's always good to see fellow UK guitarists on youtube.

    Thank you! I can tell that all the things that bothered you would bother me too. Hopefully Strandberg is watching and address some of these concerns in future models. I was thinking of getting one in the future after getting the impression that they had solved all or most of the problems inherent in the instrument. But I guess they’re kind of like the original DeLorean. Interesting concept with questionable aspects and uncertain execution.

    I love the design of strandberg guitars and prefer it over the designs of other headless guitars, but I'm concerned about the price and sound of this particular model that you reviewed (fantastic review by the way). Do you think I could get better results and a wider range of tones (other than just a metal tone) if I bought a strandberg classic model (cheaper by about 1,000), and replaced the pickups if need be?

    • @Dr.BGuitar
      @Dr.BGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment and compliment. I couldn't comment on the other model as I haven't played it, but I would seriously ask yourself what about the type of guitar is attracting you to it? For me, the QC was not there and the pickups were nowhere, and for the price of even the cheaper models you are looking at some very strong competition from other companies. Of course you may get one and love it! This was just my experience and opinion.

    • @Dr.BGuitar
      @Dr.BGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know! I just cant believe that the sub £500 guitars I own are so much better in terms of quality. As I said this may be an isolated incident, but for this level they really shouldn't be sneaking out of the factory gates.

  • @chadbouterse8617
    @chadbouterse8617 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everyone to their own opinions. Ive owed a prog 6 bolt on for three years and all of the things that you pointed out as “flaws” never crossed my mind.
    The tuners were stiff for a few weeks, but are just fine after they got used a few times. I have never used an allen key to turn them.
    There are two carves for resting the guitar on your leg, one for standard and classical positions. So why would you rest the bridge on your leg with the guitar straight up and down.
    Sure, the arm carve could be more exaggerated... but a core PRS bites your forearm and they are $4k and up....
    Overall, its a chambered, ergonomic, and well playing guitar to me...

    two weeks?...see what happens to a zero fret in 6 months with the plain strings sitting on it. even SS frets will develop grooves and the 'clinky-clinky' will happen during bends regardless of the nut slots behind it. I like Kiesels bc they ditched the zero fret.
