Thank you so much for this video if it had not been for this video I would have tossed my brand new scale just now. Keep up the amazing work I sincerely appreciate it. Thanks again. ❤ all the way from🇯🇲
I have Kenwood at750 kitchen scale, looks similar to yours but has 8kg maximum load. It had button batteries originally, I replaced them with 2 AAA cartridge. Now (actually years ago) it stopped starting and shutting down (ie. the On/Off button). Had to press the button harder and harder. Then I googled how to disassemble the device and found this video. My problem was those two hidden screws too, and after finding them the next problem was rounded bolt head in the second screw. I managed the problem by opening first screw and then I turned the device until I got the bolt loose enough. Then I applied some rubbing alcohol and cleaned the contacts on the board. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! Ever since I learned that weighing is the best way to measure heavy sauces and dressings, my scale gets grimy as hell and the buttons weren't working so well. Now they're good as new.
Thank you for this video. I am trying to learn how to repair mine and didn't know about the two hidden screws. Like @Ephemeros, I was trying to unscrew the whole weighing platform. After I remove those screws, I'm going to learn how to use my new electronics soldering iron kit to reattach the red battery wire which somehow broke off inside. I was surprised to see these instructions because it's only a $20 Walmart scale, but the soldering kit was only about $30 so it will almost pay for itself, plus one less thing in a landfill. After I practise on this, I saw a video on how to repair a connection inside one of my computer monitors, so that will be even better! Thanks again!
thank you-My coffee pot is doing the same thing. I was going to toss it and get another, but will now try fixing it first. It's always nice to save money.
I HAVE a kitchen scale similar to this one. Unfortunately some water leaked inside the scale ,after that it keeps displaying random numbers negative or positive . When I put any thing to weight it displays much higher weight and keep changing also. The wires are connected well and the load cell is fixed well also.
Thanks for the video. I just repaired the sticky buttons on my scale which looks almost exactly the same as yours. It's branded Starfrit and uses a 9V battery instead of AA. I couldn't figure out how to remove the glass top originally. I was about to try forcefully twisting it to see if the aluminum piece was threaded onto the base. Luckily I saw your video otherwise I probably would have ruined it.
thanks for your video i have the same scale and for some reason it doesnt switch on.. i have tried replacing the battery but no luck after watching your video i tried to open it but the 2 screws which at the centre holding the glass top seemed to be locked it doesnt come out.. i tried the philips screw driver but no luck and tips how to get it open....
With a stuck fastener I usually try using a penetrant. Here in the US we have brands such as PB Blaster or WD40. Just apply a bit around the screw head and let it soak in for awhile. Good luck!
I have the same scale that isn’t reading the weight. I took it apart watching your video, but it wasn’t dirty, I cleaned it anyway and reassembled it. It still won’t work !😢
I'm pretty sure kitchen scales at this price point don't provide a calibration procedure. It would involve a calibration weight like they used at the factory when it was made.
@@TheOriginalMechanic yeah if you hold down the power and function or mode button it goes into calibrate mode but i couldn't find the full instructions on exactly how to do it .
acabo de comprar una balanza, le puse las pilas nuevas y al prenderla me pone los 00.00 pero cuando le pongo peso, no me despliega lo que pesan los alimentos, que será
I didn't need a repair (but I'll know how when the time comes) I just wanted to get it clean. Thank you so much!

On EK5055 just when you are tightening the last screws (4:20) make sure to align the weighing platform with the body. Great video!

You're welcome and thanks for watching. Great to see someone learning new skills and fixing something instead of adding it to the landfill.
Fixed my scale, thanks!
Great video, helped me fix a Salter branded kitchen scale that looks identical but uses a 9V battery.

Same here. Aside: How can this video possibly have dislikes? Do people feel they shouldn't repair things?

Hi can I know how to calibration?
Do you know how to calibrate this scale ? There is nothing in the booklet that came with it .

Mine still has an ERROR message popping up.
Mi pesa enciende pero solo marca 0,no pesa como soluciono el problema

mine doesnt turn on. I cleaned the buttons and nothing. Chip damaged maybe?
Check for a loose wire. When I did this a second time one of the fine soldered in wires broke loose from the board and needed re-soldering.
@@TheOriginalMechanic all wires are connected.
Mine is apparently a cheap one...no visible screws..
La prendo y me 18;88888 y no pesa nada q hago
