It is hard to pick with Deftones becasue they have made so much good and unique music. Even if you don't react, all of it is worth listening too. Going to their concerts over the last 20 years, it has been awe inspiring to witness them continue to evolve and inovate whilst keeping their integrity and comfortable wearing their hearts on their sleeves. Shockingly down to Earth and humble guys despite the success. The singer Chino also has several side projects also worth listening too. For a reaction, maybe "Future Warrior" by Palms. I saw them perform it in a 500 capacity venue in anaheim that I will never forget. If it is available to you, the Deftones collaboration beers with the Belching Beaver Brewery are also pretty tasty. They’ve been around for 30 years for a reason. One of the most original and influential bands of the 90s. Chino is an incomparable talent. Very worthwhile giving around the fur and white pony a listen!🥰
Everyone talks (rightly) about Chino first with Deftones, but to me the real magic is the weird textural guitar playing contrasting so sharply with the hip-hop drum beats and super low dub-heavy bass grooves.

Deftones is truly one of the greatest bands in rock/metal history. Their distinctive blend of ethereal, dreamy softness with heavy impactful brutal riffs is unlike any other, and Chino is one of the most unique, versatile vocalists there is with a one of a kind voice. Digital bath is my favorite song from them but Rosemary, beware, cherry waves, riviere, be quiet and drive far away, entombed, minerva, rx queen, sextape, beauty school and more are amazing. Chino also has side projects team sleep, palms, and crosses which are excellent as well.

Every single member of that band is crazy crazy amazing! Chi Cheng was one of the main reasons I picked up the Bass. Rest easy🙏 Swerve City is a great video and vibe! Be Quit and Drive, My Own Summer, Nosebleed and Passenger are great songs and quite different from each other. White Pony is a 10/10 album and out of all the music in my life that album is my #1 albums masterpiece and vibe❤🤘

I grew up listening to Deftones. They've inspired me as a guitarist/musician. Also some of the girls who've been friends and dated who loved Deftones have been so badass. Deftones have so many great songs. Glad you're being introduced. Never too late
'KimDracula' is an amazing one by these guys (and not just because my ex, who drained the life out of me, was named Kimberly and this song has pretty much that meaning lol).
Deftones are a rabbit hole worth going down. This band is right down your ally and you will fall in love. Seen them live 5 times and I'd recommend the songs Knife Prty, Sextape, Cherry Waves, and Hole in the Earth.

Those are great and all but since you like the gritty stuff, I'm gonna recommend "When girls telephone boys", "Bloody cape" and lastly "Royal". Best example of Heavy Deftones during that breakdown at the end of " Royal" IMO. Can't wait to see your reactions after you go down the rabbit hole! We're here for it!!
I was surprised you never heard Deftones because i think they will fit right up your alley! Chino Moreno`s voice is truly one of a kind! From seductive and smooth to the most insane screams in metal music. The dichotomy in his voice is typical for Deftones music as a whole. It is from the heart... sexy, yet violent. I've been a fan of them for 20+ years (and a subscriber of yours for years) so it'll be a lot of fun to see you dig into them. :) The Maynard collaboration is "Passengers". It's one of my favorite songs of theirs. One of the best collaborations out there. Pure perfection. But Deftones is an awesome band with a ton of great songs/albums throughout the years, and Chino has several side projects that might also be of interest down the line. Some recommendations: * "My own summer (shove it)" is a banger with one of the best guitar riffs out there. * I've always really loved "Xerces" but it's perhaps not the song you'll see the most fans recommendations first. * "Be Quiet & Drive (Far Away)" is another classic.

This song holds a...weird sentimental feeling in my heart, because me and my friends drove 9 hrs from NY to Montreal for my 18th birthday because the drinking age is 18 instead of 21. (I'm 34 now) The doorman looked at my ID and almost kicked me out until I made him realize I was turning 18 in about 20 mins. I got my first lapdance to this song, under age halfway though, and turned 18 by the end of the song. haha Edit : Aileen, your hip movements are bringing back memories LMAO

This is on my all time favorite movie soundtrack The Qeen of the Damned. Some of the songs were written by Jonathan Davis of Korn for the movie, and some are the artists' own songs like this one.
He actually co-wrote all of the songs and scored the movie along with his film composer partner Richard Gibbs cause he is just that damn good except when they use Papa Roach, Disturbed and Deftones

Hi, I stopped catching up just to see this one!! And a lot of what I would say has already been said. I just live to see that smile!! A smile just brightens a day , but when your listening to music, your smile could light up a few cities!!
Oh man... this was classic late 90's for me.... some very special memories of when I was 19 are def invoked by this song. Plus, of course, the Queen of the Damned soundtrack blew this up.
IMHO, one of the unsung heroes of this song and in the background featured in a lot of their material from ‘White Pony’ onwards is their Keyboardist and long time sound designer Frank Delgado He adds so much character and flair to their overall sound and he definitely deserves some credit in helping to elevate the band in breaking out of their early Aggro Nu Metal leanings along with the brilliance of Chino Morenos unique vocal style and songwriting, as one of the best and most influential Alternative Metal bands of the last 30 yrs! As a result, Deftones have had more of a lasting influence than any other of their 90s contemporaries due to them not conforming and constricting itself to the confines of what they started out as and fully embraced elements and sounds not typically heard in a traditional rock or metal song So many have taken influence from them and even copied their style but still no one can do what they do This is what makes them so special and unique and are legends already at this point who continue to make great art and hopefully will continue for some time as I will always follow them to the end!

This is such an amazing song and I am so glad you're discovering the awesomeness that are the Deftones, but I implore you to listen to the album version of this song as the single/video version cuts off a large chunk of the incredibly powerful ending of the song!
The song came out before that movie. It was on White Pony which came out in 2000. Queen of the Damned was released in 2002. The majority of that soundtrack was written by Jonathan Davis of Korn but this was one of the few pre-existing songs on it.
I see deftones, I like.. There are so many incredible songs out there and so many great hints in comments... I almost envy finding this for the first time and with such a huge offer so accessible
What started me on these guys was browsing Rocksmith one day and trying out My Own Summer and immediately fell down the Deftones rabbit hole and now are my top 3 if not my favorite band of all time now. Its THAT good.

My Own Summer or 7 Words are great for more of their older sound. Anything off Diamond Eyes would be awesome too. One of my all time favorite albums.

The Maynard collaboration is "Passengers". It's one of my favorite songs of theirs. One of the best collaborations out there. Pure perfection.
But Deftones is an awesome band with a ton of great songs/albums throughout the years, and Chino has several side projects that might also be of interest down the line.
Some recommendations:
* "My own summer (shove it)" is a banger with one of the best guitar riffs out there.
* I've always really loved "Xerces" but it's perhaps not the song you'll see the most fans recommendations first.
* "Be Quiet & Drive (Far Away)" is another classic.
"Rosemary" It's probably the best song they've ever written

I bought this 23 years ago the day it came out we were all excited for the new Deftones album and when we saw the video for Change we all were going crazy.

This song holds a...weird sentimental feeling in my heart, because me and my friends drove 9 hrs from NY to Montreal for my 18th birthday because the drinking age is 18 instead of 21. (I'm 34 now)
The doorman looked at my ID and almost kicked me out until I made him realize I was turning 18 in about 20 mins.
I got my first lapdance to this song, under age halfway though, and turned 18 by the end of the song. haha

I highly recommend Alexis Munroe (formerly known as PRINCESSBRI) 's cover of Change. She did a wicked job on giving this song a new breath of life.
This is on my all time favorite movie soundtrack The Qeen of the Damned. Some of the songs were written by Jonathan Davis of Korn for the movie, and some are the artists' own songs like this one.
He actually co-wrote all of the songs and scored the movie along with his film composer partner Richard Gibbs cause he is just that damn good except when they use Papa Roach, Disturbed and Deftones

90's and 2000's Rock/Alt Rock were an amazing time to be alive!
Oh man... this was classic late 90's for me.... some very special memories of when I was 19 are def invoked by this song. Plus, of course, the Queen of the Damned soundtrack blew this up.
IMHO, one of the unsung heroes of this song and in the background featured in a lot of their material from ‘White Pony’ onwards is their Keyboardist and long time sound designer Frank Delgado
He adds so much character and flair to their overall sound and he definitely deserves some credit in helping to elevate the band in breaking out of their early Aggro Nu Metal leanings along with the brilliance of Chino Morenos unique vocal style and songwriting, as one of the best and most influential Alternative Metal bands of the last 30 yrs!
As a result, Deftones have had more of a lasting influence than any other of their 90s contemporaries due to them not conforming and constricting itself to the confines of what they started out as and fully embraced elements and sounds not typically heard in a traditional rock or metal song
So many have taken influence from them and even copied their style but still no one can do what they do
This is what makes them so special and unique and are legends already at this point who continue to make great art and hopefully will continue for some time as I will always follow them to the end!
Digital bath is amazing and the song with Maynard is called passenger also off of white pony which is amazing start to finish

This is such an amazing song and I am so glad you're discovering the awesomeness that are the Deftones, but I implore you to listen to the album version of this song as the single/video version cuts off a large chunk of the incredibly powerful ending of the song!
Song came out on queen of the damned. (Great movie!) The song completely made the scene awesome!
The song came out before that movie. It was on White Pony which came out in 2000. Queen of the Damned was released in 2002.
The majority of that soundtrack was written by Jonathan Davis of Korn but this was one of the few pre-existing songs on it.

I see deftones, I like.. There are so many incredible songs out there and so many great hints in comments... I almost envy finding this for the first time and with such a huge offer so accessible
What started me on these guys was browsing Rocksmith one day and trying out My Own Summer and immediately fell down the Deftones rabbit hole and now are my top 3 if not my favorite band of all time now. Its THAT good.
Oh wow, welcome to Deftones! They're definitely something special. They have this weird, dark, eerie vibe but it's also kinda.. sexy? And Chino is an outstanding vocalist. They've got lots in store for you
