@@michealmcintosh3264 Ironic that it is you that you don't understand my comment refers to the commenter that thought it took him 20 mins to fix and that since I use a browser it doesn't put the commenter's name in my reply. I've been a fan since he was posting Angry Ram vids.
Yeah, knew that it was going to be a nightmare when I saw the cab was rusted through, and I was surprised Marty got so far with it as he did, but he is more man than me, that's for sure.
It's good to see some of the machines are too far gone to restore, it adds a sense of realism to the channel, but also allows the viewer to appreciate Marty's skill in restoring the other machines.
You never cease to amaze me. I'd bet that farmer was surprised to see it moving. Even if the machine was kind of a bust, that may have been one of the most beautiful places that I've ever seen. Heaven. Thanks for the video!
Whilst watching this I could almost hear the old timers sitting around recalling the time that young feller turned up with nothing but a soft drink bottle and a pocket knife and got the that machine running... Amazing effort Marty, it's sad she's probably a bit too far gone. That Case looked like a better proposition. Cheers from across the ditch. 👍
Marty, about 25 years ago i got an old Cat excavator for scrap metal prices but she had good bones, cab, metal cowlings and hydraulic lines were buggered but I thought a nice 2-3 year resto, 17 years later finally finished her but I loved that old excavator more than anything and when I had to let the farm go due to health I sold her with the farm. I was really hoping you would have a crack but understand the logistics involved. That was a great crack though, and bringing life back into the old girl was monumental, those bloody diesels just won’t quit will they. Well done mate, you really know how to bring really great content to your videos and it’s a real credit to you.
@@glxxyz yeah well I have to agree with her I guess, I mean well but time just goes by, believe me it’s not because I drop the ball, I’m always busy, parts never arrive when they are promised and I’m planting or something else, it’s crazy I know and also now that I’m older I prefer to talk my time on projects, I’ve had my days of rip, shit or bust…..is that wisdom or just that aching of the bones. As a fully certified JCB engineer (I've watched a load of TH-cam videos on JCB) I can in my considered opinion say that this JCB could be used as an anchor.
That old girl looking quite majestic sitting out there, just waiting for that magic touch of your skilled hands ! I was amazed how easy she started...You gave her glory back for that brief moment 💖
What a beautiful country you live in. I don't usually enjoy youtubers driving videos but i could have easily watched more of yours. Cheers from Eastern Canada! 🇨🇦
Too bad its so far gone.. when it started right up I was shocked, to say the least. You have the golden touch mate and the brains to know when to walk away . Kudos.
Some you win and sometimes you walkaway. To have lasted that long adjacent to the salt water is testament to ruggedness of the old JCB machines. Thank you for posting best from the uk.
Marty you are my favorite TH-cam channel. You inspire me to get into projects myself once I get my own place. I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos, thanks bub.
Marty the magician. It never ceases to amaze me how roust old diesel engines can be. I also thought no way but ….Marty. You do like a good project. Thanks for the Sunday morning entertainment 👍
I'll have to say, with all that rust, I didn't think you'd get as far as you did. You proved me wrong, should have known, you are a wizard when it comes to all things mechanical/ electrical, Marty. Seeing her fire up was a shocker, it was fun watching you bring her back to life, well done! Thank you for another fine video!!
Brought back memories as my dad a simular jcb, he left it in a field whilst doing a job, went back two weeks later and it had simply gone... took him months until he admitted he lost it, was never found. Maybe it was this one, although it was lost in Midlands, England so not sure 😂
This is what we call a "Subscriber Special". The only point in trying was to make us happy, not because the machine had any future use. So, in that respect, great success. A sledgehammer against the locked up rusted parts might've jarred them loose. Done a few granny trips around the pasture if she wanted to maybe, but never be put back into use.
Next time you are in New York you can stop at my house and fix my 67 Power King tractor. LOL!! It is always good to see your mechanical skills at work.
Great video, really great to see the old girl start up! Such a shame she couldn’t be moved. Thanks for sharing buddy. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻THUMBS UP👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Anthony, UK
Excellent Video Marty. With the weather getting better, I'd love an old outboard general service video. Have a second hand 80s 85 and dont know what to check first
Good day sir … I really enjoy watching you get these machine going … and I agree it’s to far gone … please continue finding these gems and even go as far as restore them. Thanks for doing that looking forward to the next video
Choose your battles wisely. Once you said sea + 10 years, knew right off that those tracks would be frozen up real good. Didn't expect to see one of the rails rusted to the roller. Impressive!
What some of us do for entertainment Marty, I used to love doing that sort of things with old wheeled tractors and old cars off farms around where we lived. A lot of them I'd get to run but the bodies and bits were so badly rusted I'd get them going then have to leave them. There's some sort of satisfaction just in that. Great stuff.
Kia Ora Marty just watching you tutu with machinery is very therapeutic,, Your problem solving and clear reasoning are great to watch. Even though I don't have any machines. Loving this.
What a drive in, so scenic. Wonderful location. Started easily, sounded good, rotates, boom grunts. That's 3/4. A lot of very expensive work. Body rust, hoses, seized levers/cables, rust on the cylinder shafts. Main issue are the tracks. But what a location, hills as a backdrop, sea at your doorstep. Must be springs or streams or even waterfalls nearby.
Ooooooooooooooo! Now that dozer looks like some potential there! Great vid Marty. The fact the excavator fired right up is a true testimonial to how tough diesels are. Thanks as always for posting. I’m looking forward to the dozer video. Enjoy your Sunday
Amazing job Marty, Keep doing what you're doing, it fills others with hope and inspires them. The only thing i would say is I'd be a little worried about that temporary tank falling and dumping diesel all over a very hot exhaust manifold. Unlikely but still.
Thanks Marty. That’s got to be the most beautiful setting for a “will it start” video in TH-cam history. I found it interesting… perhaps someone can use the Perkins engine out of that excavator but otherwise it will make a lot of great American beer cans. Thanks!
WOW, IM IMPRESSED!! I would have thought that was for the junkyard!! The motor sounds awesome!! The bellowing through my TV speakers is enough to wake the wife, like she needs to actually get UP that early.. So many explanation marks I know, but this video was just beautiful to watch.

That drive into where the excavator was sititng is so much like where i live in Scotland, if i didnt know any better and someone showed me this without the soundi would say that it was definitively Scotland. Amazing.
It was surprising how quickly it fired up. For a moment it seemed hopeful. It would have been interesting to see a full skin rebuild on it, but there wasn't enough good left.

I guess as far as engines go, well there may be something worth salvaging beyond scrap and oh, the spanner.
I am always amazed to see these machines fire up after such a long time. Just shows how with good regular maintenance, they could have lasted even longer.
Feeling pretty bad for the JCB. Every time you have a machine like that which seems to desperately want to live you just want to give it that extra bit of effort. Undercarriage is gummed up some, but doesn't look too bad if you can knock it loose. Cab would need a full rebuild, of course. Maybe give Kurtis over at CEE in Oz a call, he loves projects like that ;) Seriously though, hoping a local picks it up now that you have shaken out the first gremlins. Old girl deserves a chance.
