Would love to see a guided tour of "the fleet" as it exists today. From the original excavator you rescued (which started my viewing) through the boats, bikes and tractors we've all loved watching you return to service. I'm also curious as to whether you "cash-in" on your "fixer-uppers" to finance the next project. In fact I'd love to see an interview style Q and A on on the source of your knowledge and your zen-like attitude to repair/restoration
It would be absolute lunacy to post a tour of "The Fleet" on the internet or anywhere else. Do you not realise that would be posting a shopping list for every thief with 500 miles? "The Fleet" would be stolen in a matter of weeks if not days. Just pause and "Think" about your suggestion.
Marty I have often meant to comment on this so am doing it now - I really appreciate the effort you put in to your videos - no doubt multiple cameras and not forgetting the drone. I think we tend to take quality for granted given the array of viewing options we have in this digital age. To produce this quality on a significantly smaller budget and as a one man band - Kudos. Cheers from across the ditch.👍
Those tires alone were worth the money; will really make her sure footed in any weather or conditions save ice. Will done on restoring her to working order.
Sweet little machine now, nice work Marty! Glad to see your son helpin' ya out. 👍🥝 I just can't get enough of your videos, they are wonderful to watch. Thank You for taking the time and effort to share these with us! I've learned a lot from you over the years.
First! THANK YOU for not just spending most of the time in your videos “talking”. I hate “talkies”….most videos people think we need to know everything on earth about “whatever” their doing, and videos are 75% talking…I just can’t watch them. The rest? You do so much with such a minimal amount of tools it amazes me….makes me wonder how much more you could do with a few more tools?? Or a shop! 😁 The video editing is superb, knowing how limited you are. Keep up the good work, can’t wait for Video 3 of this tractor. 👍🏽
It seems to me that this poor tractor was never serviced since it was new. All it needed was a little love. Well done Marty! Though for as dry as it is all over, it could use a spraydown with a mix of diesel and motor oil!
Yrs ago a M8 lent me a big Fiat 4x4 ,the diff lock lever was seized, I think ole M8 had never used it ,I think the machining was so good that was why it was seized, beaut tractor to operate
It's a good idea to run antifreeze even if you don't expect cold weather. Antifreeze has anti-corrosion properties that will help protect the cooling system over time.
Iv been running the same tractor 20 years. Fiat 55-66 agri Great machine! But parts are stupid expensive. Front tyres are $800 each and I got the last two in the country
Truly amazing that people operate machinery without proper maintenance...and then give away a perfectly good tractor for trivial reasons. Suggestion: power-wash machinery before removing fluid plugs and filters to avoid dirt entry when changing the stuff. Nice of you to pay for it in any case.....an honest man in the world !!!!
did my time on fiat tractors. 66 series werent a big seller in our area but there are a few. as with most fiat models the weak link is the clutch. 4wd shaft connection to the diff head can chew out the splines to. in 10 years or more i worked on the 40, 50, 66, 80 and 90 series i might have done 3 or 4 full overhauls on engines and a couple of gearboxes. they are pretty much bulletproof. but i also probably did 50 clutches.
The best content in this genre by a million miles. No messing about, no bigging it up, just pure talent and honesty. Keep up the great work Marty. Regards from Sweden 🇸🇪
Takes me back to when my dad bought a 780Dt Fiat in that terracotta brown, amazing amount of pull from the engine, all the dials are the same… great addition for you that 🥰
I am guessing the previous owner will be very happy with you looking after his orchard tractor. I think he knew when he offered it to you free gratis that it was going to a good home and also that it would have a nice retirement.
I'm just one more chap wanting to say that you are a wonderful role model, a great mechanic and an amazing teacher. Every young person that want to learn about all things mechanical would be well served to watch all of your content. OH - I can't forget the respect you show the old timers. It's a joy for this old timer to see your interaction. Thank you for letting me into your world via TH-cam. I wish there was a Marty T in my neighborhood. 😊
The tractor will fell better and run better now ..with the new owner will get many years of service too .. great job finding the tractor.....now you'll have to build a new shed. .
A tree frog! Bahahahahba. I’m still laughing. He didn’t even crack a smile. Well done Marty! Great dad, great lad, great video. Thanks as usual. Stay safe.
Just a beaut cute little takka takka! Before turning the rear wheels inside out check the specs on the rear wheel final drives. By flipping the wheels you put the contact load point further outboard, thus increasing the 'overhung' load moment. Doing so will reduce the final drive bearing life (no problem if you can repair yourself) and may over-stress the input/output splines to the point of failure. See if you can get manufacturer model/part numbers for the final drive assembly and a manufacturer's spec sheet.
yup, favorite tractors for orchards in belgium, if you have one, you never let them go. The new ones with computers fail after 20 years, these ones keep on going. (and they sound better coming from an old guy)
Some people think machines are worn out and replace them at big cost. They never think to service machines, a lot cheaper to do and things last for yrs. I work on the principle that if it moves then it needs oil or grease. And oil or grease are the best you can do. Well done on bringing the tractor back to life.
WOW just a lack of maintenance made them park this!? Great job getting it back in service and loved the little laugh when you said adding to your fleet guess the wife is getting tired of all the "new" additions or maybe not!! Great to see your son working with you!! Stay safe!!
Just a tip with the ultrasonic cleaning. Use some jars in the tub with your dirty parts inside the jar. You can just use plain water in the tub, then you can use a solvent in the jar and dispose of it easier when done.
Antifreeze is just not for preventing freezing. It has properties that lubricate the water pump. Never run just plain water - you gonna pay the price if you do!
Those "Tree Frogs" are called "Snow Frogs" in our neck of the woods, Marty. They are pesky little critters and get under one's feet all the time! I find it fascinating that owners just give up on the maintenance of their equipment and literally put it out to pasture when it no longer functions. Great video thumbs up.

Hey Marty, here in Wisconsin were just getting into spring. I've resumed tinkering with my fleet. Just finished up with the rebuilding of my 79 jeep engine. No evidence of leaking from gear box's or differentials.:) Drove it about 20 miles home and burned up the rear diff. Bone dry!:( No wonder there was no evidence of leaking. See about getting a canvas (as opposed to nylon fiber) tarpaulin to cover the tractor between jobs. The linkages will stay lubricated and free of dirt much better if protected from rain and dirt. I'm continually surprised at how much can be "fixed" on these old machines by simply draining and replacing fluids and replacing filters. "Clean fluids, fresh filters... damn! Runs like new!" I'm sure that down the way you'll be showing us how to replace shaft seals on the wheels and drive shaft. But this was a great step forward. PS. The seat looks a bit dodgy. Used the model down from this in the late 90s early 00's, the 45/66 and it's big brother the 80/90, I love new tractors and the air conditioning and field management systems, but there's something to be said for the simplicity of these machines, reliability was immense, and the small fiat tractor punched well above it's weight.
I was impressed on how well that little tractor did. I know what you were talking, with my two wheel drive tractor you have to think about it when you're using a backplate because the tires just don't have enough traction. And if you look at mine they're close to smooth. I run tire chains all year round so I can avoid buying tires cuz I'm cheap, CHEAP I say! Lol! Not really, my feeling is if it does the job why spend money on a want not a need? When it's time I'll buy them then. Thanks for so many excellent videos! Bob from Virginia USA
