I love to make these simulation videos for you and I am happy that you all like them a lot! The graphics of Arma are very good, it almost looks like in real life. Rather simulations than real war!
I definitely don't want to give the impression that I glorify war, I am just a enthusiastic gamer.
The weapon systems are of course used differently in real life, but I am happy to educate you about these weapons systems, many do not even know that they exist.

In real life an A-10 never woud have had a chance. The Gepard or Cheetah was made for killing Warthogs and Su-25 Frogfoots.

in real life a) the gepard has no unlimited ammo and b) it would not have to hit the plane - its explosive ammo just creates a wall of shrapnel in front of the plane which it would not pass unharmed or alive

Quite unrealistic. A real Gepard would have shot down the A-10 within a few seconds. My uncle was a tank commander in a Gepard for decades, when he saw this footage, he could only laugh.
i've read from someone with real life experience that they have ~94% hit chance and very good gunners could shoot the rope used to pull targets for training.
As a former Gepard gunner (Richtschütze), I would bet on the A-10. The Gepard's tracking radar cannot track curving targets well. It has a special button for this situation (Ziel kurvt). During this situation the Gepard can hardly shoot and hit. And the A-10 is typically "dancing in the sky" before it aligns with the target and shoots with his fantastic gun. +++ I've personally seen an A-10 in Denmark dancing for minutes on the sky. No chance for a Gepard to track for shooting. +++ Besides that having seen the poor shooting results of our Gepards in training shootings in Todendorf, Germany, I would bet on the A-10 again, even if it flies just straight.
@@karstenlentzsch9242 a I was told, an A-10 would be hard to hit but it would be possible. The Gepard has the same problem as all defence systems: oversaturation. At some point you can't shoot all the stuff that is coming to you.
The newer models of the Gepard seem to have better targeting computers and lots of other stuff. The system is not bad at all but Germany did what they always do: upgrade a system until it is quite good and then sort it out to replace it by some over-engineered nonsense. Now the Gepard is back in the garage of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and the Bundeswehr has the Mantis... most likely without ammo. Warum schreiben wir eigentlich Englisch? 🤔

The video is fun. As a former Gepard gunner, I'd bet 10:1 up to 20:1 on the A-10. See my detailed answer to 1337fraggzb00N.
The A-10 is the Gepard's nightmare. The problem for the Gepard is the curving of the real A-10s. During curving the Gepard cannot compute a shooting solution. Without hand interaction of the Gepard gunner (or commander), the Gepard's tracking radar looses track for curving targets. The Gepard has a button "Ziel kurvt" (engl. "target is curving) to track curving targets. But you cannot shoot during curving. The gunner has to wait until the target does no longer curve (in other words, until it flies straight). The target solution computer then starts to compute, which takes time - more time for the older Gepard B2 with analog computer, less time for the upgraded Gepard 1A2 with digital target computer.
Gepard's hit probability increases with shorter distance, slower target, non-curving targets, higher number of Gepard's (such as a Gepard battery of 6 tanks).
As with every analog computer, even small physical damage or outage of electronic components, changes the computed solution of the (shooting) differential equation. Hence, the Gepard B2 or B2L (with laser distance tracking) is quite difficult to maintain and calibrate. This has been fixed with the Gepard 1A2 that has a digital target solution computer.

A-10 is OP for some reason. I know that anti-air is shooting bigger bullets than the a-10. And I saw some hits.
The Gepard is firing with two 35 mm guns . The A10 has a 30 mm gun with incredibly many shots per minute. And the gepard is firing into a sack behind the plane even though on the radar screens You see only one target. Never ever even one shot at the plane for training purposes. There are even aditional security guys to pevent a direct shot. They can and will turn off the guns immediately! And yes, I have been firing with that crazy thing.

It is indeed an armored plane - it is designed for CAS (Close Air Support) and so it is expected to get hit so they made it tough enough to be able to withstand quite a pounding.

Definitely not. As a former Gepard gunner, I'd bet 10:1 up to 20:1 on the A-10. See my detailed answer to 1337fraggzb00N. The only chance for Gepard's is in a group of 6 (the typical Gepard batterie) in a much shorter fighting distance of about 1000m-2000m.
