    The early 2003 6.0L Ford’s have the best EGR Cooler ever made. My HPOP went out in mine just 2 weeks ago. Since they were right there I told them to replace the oil cooler and EGR cooler, with a Bullet Proof EGR cooler. They replaced the oil cooler only. They pulled, cleaned, and inspected my EGR cooler. They found it to be perfectly functional with no issues.
    The shop owner told me when I picked it up that they didn’t upgrade the EGR cooler. He told me I had the early 2003 6.0 EGR cooler. That it works better than any aftermarket EGR cooler. He also told me he has never had to replace the EGR cooler on these early engines.

    • @michaelbutcher6432

      tractorboy31 I’ve never had any major issues with mine. But I also use only synthetic Amsoil product and I don’t follow the 7,500 mile oil change interval’s either. When I replaced my oil cooler it wasn’t loaded with corrosion either. Just had it changed because they were right there and it was 15 years old. Coolant and oil filtration systems will save any motor. Especially a 6.0 because of the small tolerances. That being said I used to be a diesel mechanic. These motors will run for ever as long as you take care of them. But parts will fail. Engine wise I’ve only had to replace the turbo, intercooler, HPOP, glow plug warmer, ICP sensor, and batteries. In a 15 year old Excursion. The oil cooler was just buy choice.
      So if you know what you have with a 6.0 and know how to take care of it. It should last you a good while.
      I still have the original injectors in my truck because I use a fuel additive that is designed specifically for these Ford injectors.
      All diesels no matter who makes them have some issues. Duramax, Cummins, and Ford.

    • @johnsmith-wc8gs
      @johnsmith-wc8gs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@michaelbutcher6432 the 6.0 is a good engine. I bulletproofed the heads a few months ago (got 180k on the factory!) and it still has the factory finish on it. These engines will run 500k, maybe more, if taken care of like you said. They just have some quirks that we all know about. I'm not a diesel mechanic so I appreciate the fact it's simple enough that I can work on it unlike the new generation of diesels with all the electrical crap and that you don't have to pull the cab. I wouldn't be surprised if these motors are sought after in the coming years much like the 7.3

      Exhaust gas is routed to the combustion chamber, but carbon buildup generally hasn't been a problem on Fords - we hear that some Ram/Cummins have had those issues within the EGR cooler itself (carbon buildup). We're happy to report that we now produce BulletProof EGR coolers for selected versions of the 6.7 Cummins and the 6.6L Duramax, and our H-Core's helical tube structure resists both rupture and clogging. Simply put, these EGR coolers actually work well.

    Putting dirty exhaust gases back into the intake is just about the worst thing for your engine. The air intake and valves get gummed up, air flow is reduced over time, and your coolant runs hotter because it’s cooling exhaust gas.

      One of the main reasons why the diesel engine blows white smoke out of the tailpipe is a bad injector, causing too much fuel to be injected into the combustion chamber. A clogged fuel filter, resulting in an unbalanced air/fuel ratio mix inside the combustion chamber, travels through the hot exhaust causing white smoke from the tailpipe, this will also cause misfires and a lack of power.A blown head gasket, transmission fluid leak through a damaged diaphragm. damaged valve stem seals or piston rings can leak oil into the combustion chamber.
      Do your research before blaming white smoke from the exhaust on EGR delete.

    So no real CON to a EGR Delete. If you have your stock EGR cooler welded, there is no way to tell if its deleted. I have the external Oil cooler from you guys which is a good product, but the welded EGR cooler is the way to go. My 6.0 runs smoother, cooler and has more power.

    It’s crazy how many people on here are not properly educated about EGR. Exhaust gas is INERT which means it’s not reactive! So in the combustion chamber it basically takes up space, causing less reaction and LOWER combustion chamber temps! You are not choking on exhaust, deleting EGR RAISES your combustion temps. Put a proper cooler on!

    • @jbmorris2893
      @jbmorris2893 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's part of why so many people end up deleting their engine instead of upgrading their EGR cooler.

    • @raingreen1103
      @raingreen1103 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your not educated on the EGR properly. Somehow your about half right but then your solution is ignorance. Yes exhaust causes carbon, soot buildup in a few places and can ruin an engine. It’s never smart to recycle exhaust into an engine. It’s dirty, it’s not 100% oxygen and it causes lower temps in the chamber. This is bad because it’s exactly how soot builds up and clogs things up. Smh. You want higher temps it’s better for the engine and soot won’t buildup. Our atmosphere is vast enough to not be affected by nox. The egr was just another way to ruin engines and cause people to spend more money.

    egr delete is illegal, btw.

  • @mrD66M
    @mrD66M 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My thinking is the EGR system clogs because often people aren't using their diesel vehicles correctly. Diesel engines are made for high mileage and mid to heavy loads - if they are used too often in short travel (many times before the engine gets to proper working temp, which is the other reason the EGR is there - to help engine warm up and reduce wear) they will generate too much soot. When it is used properly it does not build up excessive gunk in less than 30k miles, and helps engine run leaner.
    Edit - in some cases the PCV system is as bad as the EGR for creating soot. Worth having a catch can.
