    The song that is "our song" is "You Make Me Feel Brand New" by the Stylistics. We're old school. Married 46 years and it's still our song. Having been married in Las Vegas in 1975, we had the privilege to hear them in person on our wedding night since they were performing at the Riviera Casino. It was fate. No internet back then to know that. We just got lucky. Wonderful memories come flooding back. Thanks for that.

    It was called The Sound of Philadelphia not Jazz. Those groups like The Stylistics were the soundtrack of my life growing up in the 1970s in Philly & many others during that time. You heard TSOP everywhere you went. We always had great singers from Philadelphia-it must be in the wooder as we say it in Philly! Nice review guys!

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Yes, Melissa, the genre was called, "The Sound of Philadelphia". And for short, "The Philly Sound". But it was was also called another name which I prefer, as it is much more descriptive: "Philly Soul". I wish the boys had done a live version (even if it was overdubbed, which was commonplace back then) from Soul Train or some other TV show, so they could've seen The Stylistics dancin' around in their suits!

    Guys, you just carried me back to my high school years! This song came out in 1971 and has been re-recorded by Prince, Aaron Nevile, Dion Warwick and others but you can’t beat the original! The Styllistics are the real deal. Glad you two appreciate such a wide variety of music.

    Great choice guys! I only discovered this song via Maysa Leak’s version which is also beautiful. As you really liked Luciano Pavarotti singing “Nessun Dorma” I recommend that you watch the recorded version by Sol3 Mio. Then watch their studio version of “No Diggity”. These are two brothers and their cousin who come from the island nation of Samoa then moved to New Zealand. They won scholarships to study opera in Wales and each graduated with a Master’s degree in Opera Singing. They’ve said that people often presume that they must be footballers or nightclub bouncers. Their stage name is a play on words - their first hit was Sole Mio but “sole” is slang for “brother” in Samoan.
    They’re young guys only a bit older than you two and I think you’ll find them inspiring. They do crossover songs like No Diggity and many more ballads and pop songs to introduce a wider audience to their first love, opera. Keep up your journey in musical education. All your fans here are so supportive and it’s a pleasure to read their comments and suggestions. 😘
