You say no one has put down a deposit or bought a car? I did. I’m still waiting to drive the car. There is no stock. There is nothing to drive. I sighed a contract. MG couldn’t even say what the price was. They have not handle this very well at all. If MG want to sell these cars they need to be available to test drive a but MG no cars. I go to the website and it says click for a test drive. They put me in touch with a dealer. Sorry we don’t have a car yet maybe call back in three weeks.? Also with this review you did not speak about the seating position. Anyone that is normal height size 6 foot their eyes are looking at the top of the windscreen because of the battery pushes you out of the car. The seating position is terrible.
It's possible to not only buy one here in Thailand, they're also appearing in rental shops. Of course, the price is half that of Australia's, so that probably explains why. Good luck!
I don't disagree. Off camera we got to explore some much better roads, but from the launch we had limited time and limited locations to film at. This spot provided a great opportunity to showcase the car in the time available, but we're looking to do some more in-depth coverage down the track. - Kez
@@Drivecomau Those shots look like they were done at Brimbank Park. Where was the drive program run? I'm surprised MG didn't allocate time for you guys to film on the drive leg of the launch.
It’s got over 500 km on a full tank charge. You don’t need to recharge you just drive it. Put 100 k’s on it. Take it home charge it overnight. Now back to like 500kms available, problem Solved. where is the range anxiety?
It has a battery (not a tank!). If you drive it (hard) as a sports car, you wouldn't even get 100km out of it! The battery would overheat and run out of charge. There are very few chargers up in the hills/mountains where most keen drivers go for a day out = range anxiety.
@EtherOne NOT my imagination but ACTUAL experience with driving EV's hard. The range plummets and definately causes big range anxiety. The MG would not even complete 2 laps of the Nurburgring (40km) at 'track' pace.
No good for Australia. Go for a sporting/spirited day drive on good 'driving' roads in 'mountain' areas. The range will plummet and range anxiety will destroy the fun😬. If you go with others, they're not going to sit around for 45 minutes while you charge (if you can find a charger).
🫡🇨🇳I love my country...... Another super great product of the motherland......If it were not for Chinese investment, there would be no such beautiful car. You foreigners must be grateful to our great motherland for giving you this opportunity. Do you remember the old MG that were produced in UK that were unpleasant and poor quality? If the motherland hadn’t helped you raise them up, there would be no place today, and you wouldn’t be able to gain again. I'm on my 5th convertible and I WOULDN'T BUY THIS CAR. Why? Because it's electric. The vrrr is a big part of the fun, and ADDITIONALLY all convertibles are notorious for chassis and build noise because they don't have the roof to help rigidity. So all I see is a quiet car that will be annoyingly creaky after 6 months and no vrrr motor noise to override that issue. It will flop and resale will be terrible
Totally agree if you were to buy one buy it as a 2nd hand car in 2 or 3 years time. Me personally ? I will stick with my MX5 lightweight let’s play and have some fun
@converdis449 I'm with you! I'm driving an S5, but the MOST fun convertibles I had were the MR2 and MX5. Both were like driving a go cart, so much fun. But this that $115-120k you're close to Audi and Mercedes price points. Id take my S5 or a C63 everyday over this thing. Even at a lower price I'd take the mx5 . Just like you say, it's a lot of fun! You get a great car for the $$ 👍
@nyc863 then it would be a pain to 'limbo' under/around it to get into or out of the car. If you forgot to alter the opening height, you'd leave your paint signature on the concrete😬

Shame you only drove it up and down a park road at 30 km/h. Would have been nice to see some actually road testing.

I wonder what the resale value will be. Based on more premium European options I’d say not much.
What are the steering wheel pedals for?
The left paddle adjust the level of coasting regen, the right paddle is to cycle through drive modes.

Any underground/multi story carpark or low ceiling garage is a no go area!😂
apparently just over 2m but you can configure the default opening height in the screen.

It has sensors all over the door. It would never hit anything.
@assetpropertysales2779 ..............so when underneath a lower ceiling/concrete carpark roof, it would be harder to get in/out😖
I park ok rooftop anyway...cmon dont be lazy
